¹ Elisha the prophet called one of the young prophets and said to him: »Prepare to go to Ramoth in Gilead. Take this jar of olive oil with you.

¹ E Eliseu, o profeta, chamou um dos filhos dos profetas, e disse-lhe: Cinge os teus lombos, e toma esta caixa de azeite na tua mão, e vai até Ramote-Gileade;

² »When you get there look for Jehu, the son of Jehoshaphat and grandson of Nimshi. Take him to a private room away from his companions.

² e quando tu fores para lá, procura Jeú, o filho de Josafá, o filho de Ninsi, e entra, e faz com que ele se levante dentre os seus irmãos, e leva-o para uma câmara interior;

³ »Pour this olive oil on his head, and say: Jehovah anoints you king of Israel. Then leave there as fast as you can.«

³ então, toma a caixa de azeite, e a derrama sobre a sua cabeça, e diz: Assim diz o SENHOR: Tenho te ungido rei sobre Israel. Então, abre a porta, e foge, e não te detenhas.

⁴ The young prophet went to Ramoth.

⁴ Assim, o jovem profeta foi até Ramote-Gileade.

⁵ He found the army officers in conference. He said: »I have a message for you.« Jehu asked: »Who are you speaking to?« »To you, captain.« He replied.

⁵ E, quando ele chegou, eis que os capitães do exército estavam assentados; e ele disse: Eu tenho um recado para ti, ó capitão. E Jeú disse: Para qual dentre todos nós? E ele disse: Para ti, ó capitão.

⁶ The two of them went indoors. The prophet poured the olive oil on Jehu's head and said to him: »Jehovah, the God of Israel, says: I anoint you king of my people Israel.

⁶ E ele se levantou, e entrou na casa; e derramou o azeite sobre a sua cabeça, e lhe disse: Assim diz o SENHOR Deus de Israel: Tenho te ungido rei sobre o povo do SENHOR, a saber, sobre Israel.

⁷ »You are to kill your master the king of the house of Ahab. I am punishing Jezebel for murdering my prophets and my other servants.

⁷ E tu ferirás a casa de Acabe, o teu mestre, para que eu possa vingar o sangue dos meus servos, os profetas, e o sangue de todos os servos do SENHOR, da mão de Jezabel.

⁸ »The entire house of Ahab will perish. I will get rid of every male in his family, young and old alike.

⁸ Porque toda a casa de Acabe perecerá; e eu cortarei de Acabe aquele que mija contra a parede, e aquele que está escravo e livre em Israel;

⁹ »I will treat his family as I did the families of King Jeroboam son of Nebat and of King Baasha son of Ahijah.

⁹ e eu farei a casa de Acabe como a casa de Jeroboão, o filho de Nebate, e como a casa de Baasa, o filho de Aías;

¹⁰ »Jezebel will not be buried. Dogs in the territory of Jezreel will eat her body.« After saying this, the young prophet opened the door and fled.

¹⁰ e os cães comerão Jezabel na porção de Jezreel, e não haverá ali nenhum para enterrá-la. E ele abriu a porta, e fugiu.

¹¹ Jehu went back to his fellow officers. They asked him: »Is everything all right? What did this mad fellow want with you?« Jehu answered: »You know what he wanted.«

¹¹ Então, Jeú saiu até aos servos do seu senhor; e um lhe disse: Está tudo bem? Por que este louco veio até ti? E ele disse-lhes: Vós conheceis o homem e a sua comunicação.

¹² »No we do not!« They replied. »Tell us what he said!« They asked. »He told me that Jehovah says: I anoint you king of Israel.«

¹² E eles disseram: Isto é falso; conta-nos agora. E disse-lhe: Assim e assim falou ele a mim, dizendo: Assim diz o SENHOR: Tenho te ungido rei sobre Israel.

¹³ At once Jehu's fellow officers spread their cloaks at the top of the steps for Jehu to stand on. They blew trumpets and shouted: »Jehu is king!«

¹³ Então eles apressaram-se, e tomando cada um a sua vestimenta puseram debaixo dele, no alto das escadarias, e sopraram as trombetas, dizendo: Jeú é rei.

¹⁴ So Jehu, the son of Jehoshaphat, the son of Nimshi, plotted against Joram. Joram and all the army of Israel were keeping watch on Ramoth-gilead against Hazael, king of Aram:

¹⁴ Assim, Jeú, o filho de Josafá, o filho de Ninsi, conspirou contra Jorão. (Ora, Jorão havia aprisionado Ramote-Gileade, ele e todo o Israel, por causa de Hazael, rei da Síria.

¹⁵ King Joram went back to Jezreel to recuperate from the wounds he received from the Aramaeans when he fought against Hazael, king of Aram. Jehu said: »If this is your purpose let no one get away to give news of it in Jezreel.«

¹⁵ Porém o rei Jorão havia retornado a Jezreel para ser curado dos ferimentos que os sírios lhe haviam causado, quando ele lutou contra Hazael, rei da Síria). E Jeú disse: Se isto está em vossas mentes, então que ninguém saia nem escape da cidade para ir e contar isto em Jezreel.

¹⁶ So Jehu got into his carriage and went to Jezreel. Joram was ill in bed there and Ahaziah, king of Judah came to see him.

¹⁶ Assim, Jeú subiu em uma carruagem, e foi até Jezreel; porque Jorão ali estava deitado. E Acazias, rei de Judá, havia descido para ver Jorão.

¹⁷ The watchman on the tower in Jezreel saw Jehu and his company coming. He said: »I see a company of people.« Joram said: »Send out a horseman to them and let him ask: Do you come in peace?«

¹⁷ E um atalaia estava ali de pé sobre a torre em Jezreel, e ele espionava a companhia de Jeú enquanto ele vinha, e disse: Vejo uma companhia. E Jorão disse: Toma um cavaleiro, e envia-o para se encontrar com eles, e que ele diga: Isto é paz?

¹⁸ So a horseman went out to them and said: »The king asks: Do you come in peace? « Jehu said: »What have you to do with peace? Follow me.« The watchman reported that the horseman reached the group and was returning.

¹⁸ Assim lá se foi um em lombo de cavalo para se encontrar com ele, e disse: Assim diz o rei: Isto é paz? E Jeú disse: O que tens tu a fazer com a paz? Volve-te para trás de mim. E o atalaia contou, dizendo: O mensageiro chegou até eles, mas ele não retorna.

¹⁹ A second man was sent out on horseback. He approached them and asked the same thing: »Do you come in peace?« Jehu replied: »What have you to do with peace? Follow me.«

¹⁹ Então, ele enviou um segundo em lombo de cavalo, o qual veio a eles, e disse: Assim diz o rei: Isto é paz? E Jeú respondeu: O que tens tu a fazer com a paz? Volve-te para trás de mim.

²⁰ The watchman reported: »He went up to them and has not come back. The driving is like the driving of Jehu, son of Nimshi, for he is driving violently.«

²⁰ E o atalaia contou, dizendo: Ele chegou mesmo até eles, e não retorna; e o conduzir é semelhante ao conduzir de Jeú, o filho de Ninsi; pois conduz furiosamente.

²¹ Joram said: »Get ready.« They prepared his chariot and Joram, king of Israel, with Ahaziah, king of Judah, went out in their chariots to meet Jehu. They came face to face with him at the field of Naboth the Jezreelite.

²¹ E Jorão disse: Preparai-vos. E a sua carruagem foi preparada. E Jorão, rei de Israel, e Acazias, rei de Judá saíram, cada um na sua carruagem, e eles saíram contra Jeú, e o encontraram na porção de Nabote, o jezreelita.

²² When Joram saw Jehu he said: »Do you come in peace, Jehu?« He said in reply: »What peace is possible while all the land is full of the disgusting sins of your mother Jezebel, and her secret arts of witchcraft?«

²² E sucedeu, quando Jorão viu Jeú, que ele disse: Isto é paz, Jeú? E ele respondeu: Que paz, enquanto as prostituições da tua mãe, Jezabel, e as suas feitiçarias são tantas?

²³ Then Joram turned his horses and fled. He said to Ahaziah: »Broken faith, O Ahaziah!«

²³ E Jorão virou as suas mãos, e fugiu, e disse a Acazias: É traição, ó Acazias.

²⁴ Jehu drew his bow with his full strength and sent an arrow, wounding Joram between the arms. The arrow came out at his heart, and he went down on his face in his chariot.

²⁴ E Jeú entesou um arco com toda a sua força, e feriu Jorão entre os seus braços, e a flecha saiu no seu coração, e ele afundou-se na sua carruagem.

²⁵ Jehu said to Bidkar, his captain: »Pick him up, and put him in the field of Naboth the Jezreelite. I remember when you and I were riding together after Ahab, his father. Jehovah offered this prophesy against him.

²⁵ Então, disse Jeú a Bidcar, o seu capitão: Levanta-o e lança-o na porção do campo de Nabote, o jezreelita; porque te lembras como, quando eu e tu cavalgávamos juntos atrás de Acabe, o seu pai, o SENHOR colocou esta carga sobre ele;

²⁶ »Even as I saw the blood of Naboth and his sons yesterday, I will pay you back in this field, declares Jehovah. Now take him and throw him into the field as Jehovah predicted.«

²⁶ seguramente, ontem vi o sangue de Nabote, e o sangue dos seus filhos, diz o SENHOR; e eu me desforrarei de ti neste pedaço de terra, diz o SENHOR. Agora, portanto, toma-o e lança-o no pedaço de terra, segundo a palavra do SENHOR.

²⁷ When King Ahaziah of Judah saw this, he fled on the road leading to Beth Haggan. Jehu pursued him and ordered: »Shoot him down in his chariot.« They shot him at Gur Pass, near Ibleam. Ahaziah continued to flee until he got to Megiddo, where he died.

²⁷ Porém, quando Acazias, o rei de Judá, viu isto, ele fugiu pelo caminho da casa do jardim. E Jeú o perseguiu, e disse: Feri-o também na carruagem. E eles assim o fizeram na subida de Gur, a qual fica junto a Ibleão. E ele fugiu para Megido, e lá morreu.

²⁸ His servants brought him in a chariot to Jerusalem. They buried him in a tomb with his ancestors in the City of David.

²⁸ E os seus servos o carregaram em uma carruagem até Jerusalém, e o sepultaram no seu sepulcro com os seus pais, na cidade de Davi.

²⁹ Ahaziah became king over Judah. It was in the eleventh year of the rule of Joram, the son of Ahab.

²⁹ E no décimo primeiro ano de Jorão, o filho de Acabe, começou a reinar Acazias sobre Judá.

³⁰ Jehu went to Jezreel. Jezebel had news of what happened. Painting her eyes and dressing her hair with ornaments, she put her head out of the window.

³⁰ E quando Jeú chegou a Jezreel, Jezabel ouviu a respeito; e ela pintou a face, e ataviou a cabeça, e olhou por uma janela.

³¹ As Jehu entered the town, she said: »Have you come in peace, you Zimri, who killed his master?«

³¹ E quando Jeú entrou pelo portão, ela disse: Teve paz Zinri, que matou a seu senhor?

³² Then, looking up to the window, he said: »Who is on my side, who?« Two or three eunuchs look out at him.

³² E ele levantou a sua face em direção à janela, e disse: Quem está do meu lado? Quem? E ali olhavam para ele dois ou três eunucos.

³³ He said: »Take her and throw her out the window.« So they threw her down with force. Her blood splattered on the wall and on the horses. She was crushed under their feet.

³³ E ele disse: Lançai-a abaixo. Assim, eles a lançaram abaixo; e parte do seu sangue foi respingada na parede, e nos cavalos; e ele calcou-a sob os seus pés.

³⁴ He came in and ate and drank. He said: »Now see to this cursed woman. Bury her body in the earth, for she is a king's daughter.«

³⁴ E, quando ele havia entrado, ele comeu e bebeu, e disse: Ide e vede agora esta mulher maldita, e sepultai-a; porque ela é filha de um rei.

³⁵ They went to bury her, but they found nothing to bury. There were only the bones of her head, and her feet, and parts of her hands.

³⁵ E eles foram sepultá-la; mas dela não encontraram nada além da caveira, e os pés, e as palmas das suas mãos.

³⁶ So they came back and told him about it. He said: »This is what Jehovah said by his servant Elijah the Tishbite: In the heritage of Jezreel the flesh of Jezebel will become food for dogs.

³⁶ Pelo que eles retornaram, e contaram-lhe. E ele disse: Esta é a palavra do SENHOR, a qual ele falou pelo seu servo Elias, o tisbita, dizendo: Na porção de Jezreel os cães comerão a carne de Jezabel;

³⁷ »The dead body of Jezebel will be like waste dropped on the face of the earth in the heritage of Jezreel. They will not be able to say: »This is Jezebel.« «

³⁷ e a carcaça de Jezabel será como esterco sobre a face do campo na porção de Jezreel; de modo que não dirão: Esta é Jezabel.
