1 Amaziah son of Jehoash became king of Judah. It was in the second year of Jehoash son of Joahaz king of Israel.
1 No segundo ano de Jeoás, filho de Jeoacaz, rei de Israel, reinou Amazias, o filho de Joás, rei de Judá.
2 Amaziah was twenty-five years old when he became king. He ruled in Jerusalem for twenty-nine years. His mother's name was Jehoaddin of Jerusalem.
2 Ele tinha vinte e cinco anos de idade quando começou a reinar; e reinou vinte e nove anos em Jerusalém. E o nome da sua mãe era Jeoadã de Jerusalém.
3 He did what was right in the eyes of Jehovah. Though not like David his forefather; he did as Joash his father had done.
3 E ele fez aquilo que era reto à vista do SENHOR, todavia não como Davi, o seu pai; ele fez segundo todas as coisas, como fez Joás, o seu pai.
4 Still the high places were not taken away. The people continued making offerings and burning them in the high places.
4 Todavia, os lugares altos não foram removidos; até aquele momento o povo sacrificava e queimava incenso nos lugares altos.
5 As soon as he firmly established the kingdom he immediately put to death those servants who had taken the life of his father, the king.
5 E sucedeu, tão logo o reino foi confirmado na sua mão, que ele matou os seus servos que haviam matado o rei, o seu pai.
6 But he did not put their children to death. The orders of Jehovah recorded in the book of the law of Moses say: »The fathers are not to be put to death for the children, or the children for their fathers; but each man shall be put to death for his own sin.«
6 Porém os filhos dos assassinos ele não matou; segundo o que está escrito no livro da lei de Moisés, no qual o SENHOR ordenou, dizendo: Os pais não serão levados à morte pelos filhos, nem os filhos serão levados à morte pelos pais; mas cada homem será levado à morte pelo seu próprio pecado.
7 He put to the sword twelve thousand men of Edom in the Valley of Salt. He captured Sela in war, and named it Joktheel, as it is to this day.
7 Ele matou, de Edom, no vale do Sal, dez mil, e tomou Sela por guerra, e chamou o seu nome de Jocteel até este dia.
8 Then Amaziah sent representatives to Jehoash son of Jehoahaz son of Jehu, king of Israel, saying: »Come let us have a meeting face to face.«
8 Então, Amazias enviou mensageiros a Jeoás, o filho de Jeoacaz, filho de Jeú, rei de Israel, dizendo: Vem, olhemo-nos um a face do outro.
9 Jehoash king of Israel sent to Amaziah king of Judah, saying: »The thorn-tree in Lebanon sent to the cedar in Lebanon, saying: Give your daughter to my son for a wife. A beast from the woodland in Lebanon went by, crushing the thorn under his feet.
9 E Jeoás, o rei de Israel, mandou dizer a Amazias, o rei de Judá: O cardo que estava no Líbano mandou dizer ao cedro que estava no Líbano: Dá a tua filha para o meu filho como esposa; e ali passava um animal selvagem que estava no Líbano, e pisoteou o cardo.
10 »It is true that you have overcome Edom and your heart is uplifted. Let that glory be enough for you and stay in your own country. Why do you make causes for trouble, putting yourself and Judah with you in danger of downfall?«
10 Tu, na verdade, tens ferido a Edom, e o teu coração tem te exaltado; gloria-te disto, e detenha-te na tua casa; afinal por que mexerias com a tua dor, para que caias, de fato, tu, e contigo Judá?
11 But Amaziah paid no attention. So Jehoash king of Israel went to Amaziah king of Judah to meet face to face at Bethshemesh in Judah.
11 Porém Amazias não quis ouvir. Portanto, Jeoás, rei de Israel, subiu; e ele e Amazias, rei de Judá, olharam na face um do outro em Bete-Semes, que pertence a Judá.
12 Judah was defeated by Israel and every man fled home.
12 E Judá foi derrotado por Israel; e fugiram, cada homem, para suas tendas.
13 Jehoash king of Israel made Amaziah king of Judah son of Jehoash, son of Ahaziah, prisoner at Bethshemesh. He went to Jerusalem and had the wall of Jerusalem pulled down from the Gate of Ephraim to the gate in the angle, six hundred feet.
13 E Jeoás, rei de Israel, pegou Amazias, rei de Judá, o filho de Joás, o filho de Acazias, em Bete-Semes, e veio até Jerusalém, e demoliu o muro de Jerusalém, desde o portão de Efraim, até ao portão da esquina, quatrocentos côvados.
14 He took all the gold and silver and all the vessels in the Temple of Jehovah and in the storehouse of the king, together with those whose lives would be the price of broken faith, and went back to Samaria.
14 E ele tomou todo o ouro e prata, e todos os vasos que foram achados na casa do SENHOR, e nos tesouros da casa do rei, e reféns, e retornou a Samaria.
15 The rest of the acts of Jehoash, and his power, and how he went to war with Amaziah, king of Judah, are recorded in the Book of the History of the Kings of Israel.
15 Ora, o restante dos atos de Jeoás, e tudo o que ele fez, e o seu poder, e a forma como ele lutou contra Amazias, rei de Judá, não estão escritos no livro das Crônicas dos reis de Israel?
16 Jehoash went to rest with his fathers. They buried him in Samaria with the kings of Israel. Jeroboam his son became king in his place.
16 E Jeoás dormiu com os seus pais, e foi sepultado em Samaria com os reis de Israel; e Jeroboão, o seu filho, reinou no seu lugar.
17 Amaziah, the son of Jehoash, king of Judah, went on living for fifteen years after the death of Jehoash, son of Jehoahaz, king of Israel.
17 E viveu Amazias, o filho de Joás, rei de Judá, depois da morte de Jeoás, filho de Jeoacaz, rei de Israel, quinze anos.
18 The rest of the acts of Amaziah are recorded in the book of the History of the Kings of Judah.
18 E o restante dos atos de Amazias, não estão escritos no livro das Crônicas dos reis de Judá?
19 Conspiracy was plotted against him in Jerusalem. He went in flight to Lachish, but they sent after him to Lachish and killed him there.
19 Ora, fizeram conspiração contra ele em Jerusalém; e ele fugiu para Laquis; mas eles enviaram após ele a Laquis, e lá o mataram.
20 They took his body on horseback and buried him with his fathers in Jerusalem, the town of David.
20 E o trouxeram sobre cavalos; e ele foi sepultado em Jerusalém, com os seus pais, na cidade de Davi.
21 Then all the people of Judah took Azariah, who was sixteen years old, and made him king in place of his father Amaziah.
21 E todo o povo de Judá tomou Azarias, que tinha dezesseis anos de idade, e fê-lo rei em lugar do seu pai, Amazias.
22 He was the builder of Elath, which he got back for Judah after the death of the king.
22 Ele edificou Elate, e a restituiu a Judá, depois disto, o rei dormiu com os seus pais.
23 Jeroboam son of Joash king of Israel became king in Samaria. He ruled for forty-one years. This was in the fifteenth year of the rule of Amaziah son of Joash the king of Judah.
23 No décimo quinto ano de Amazias, o filho de Joás, rei de Judá, Jeroboão, o filho de Joás, rei de Israel, começou a reinar em Samaria, e reinou quarenta e um anos.
24 He did evil in the eyes of Jehovah. He did not turn away from the sin which Jeroboam, the son of Nebat, did and made Israel do.
24 E ele fez aquilo que era mau à vista do SENHOR; ele não se afastou de todos os pecados de Jeroboão, o filho de Nebate, que fez Israel pecar.
25 He got back the old limits of Israel from the way into Hamath to the sea of the Arabah. This was what Jehovah said by his servant Jonah, the son of Amittai, the prophet of Gathhepher.
25 Ele restituiu o termo de Israel, desde a entrada de Hamate até o mar da planície, segundo a palavra do SENHOR Deus de Israel, a qual Ele falou pela mão do seu servo Jonas, o filho de Amitai, o profeta, o qual era de Gate-Hefer.
26 Jehovah saw the bitter affliction of Israel. There was no one left, bond or free. There was no help for Israel.
26 Porque o SENHOR viu a aflição de Israel, que era mui amarga; porque não havia nenhum escravo, nem livre, tampouco algum ajudador para Israel.
27 Jehovah had not said that the name of Israel was to be taken away from the earth. So he gave them a savior in Jeroboam, the son of Joash.
27 E o SENHOR não disse que apagaria o nome de Israel de debaixo do céu; mas salvou-lhes pela mão de Jeroboão, o filho de Jeoás.
28 Now the rest of the acts of Jeroboam, and all he did, and his power, and how he went to war with Damascus, causing the wrath of Jehovah to be turned away from Israel, are recorded in the book of the History of the Kings of Israel.
28 Ora, o restante dos atos de Jeroboão, e tudo o que ele fez, e o seu poder, como ele guerreou, e como ele recuperou Damasco, e Hamate, a qual pertencia a Judá, para Israel, não estão escritos no livro das Crônicas dos reis de Israel?
29 Jeroboam went to rest with his fathers. He was buried with the kings of Israel. Zechariah his son became king in his place.
29 E Jeroboão dormiu com os seus pais, a saber, com os reis de Israel; e Zacarias, o seu filho, reinou no seu lugar.
