1 David said: »The house of Jehovah God is to be here, and also the altar of burnt offering for Israel.«
1 Então Davi disse: “Este será o lugar do templo do S enhor Deus e o lugar do altar para os holocaustos de Israel!”.
2 So David gave orders to assemble the foreigners living in Israel. He appointed stonecutters from among them to prepare dressed stone for building the house of God.
2 Davi deu ordens para reunir os estrangeiros que viviam em Israel e os encarregou de preparar as pedras cortadas para a construção do templo de Deus.
3 He provided a large amount of iron to make nails for the doors of the gateways and for the fittings, and more copper than could be weighed.
3 Davi providenciou grandes quantidades de ferro para os pregos necessários para as portas e suas dobradiças, e deu tanto bronze que não se podia pesar.
4 He also provided more cedar logs than could be counted. The Sidonians and Tyrians had brought large numbers of them to David.
4 Também providenciou inúmeras toras de cedro, pois os homens de Tiro e Sidom lhe haviam trazido grandes quantidades dessa madeira.
5 David said: »My son Solomon is young and inexperienced. The house to be built for Jehovah should be of great magnificence and fame and splendor in the sight of all the nations. Therefore I will make preparations for it. So David made extensive preparations before his death.«
5 Davi disse: “Meu filho Salomão ainda é jovem e inexperiente. Uma vez que o templo do S enhor deve ser um edifício magnífico, famoso e glorioso por todo o mundo, começarei desde já a fazer os preparativos”. Assim, antes de sua morte, Davi juntou grandes quantidades de materiais para a construção.
6 Then he called for his son Solomon and charged him to build a house for Jehovah, the God of Israel.
6 Então mandou chamar seu filho Salomão e lhe ordenou que construísse um templo para o S enhor , o Deus de Israel.
7 David said to Solomon: »My son, I had it in my heart to build a house for the Name of Jehovah my God.
7 Disse-lhe: “Meu filho, eu quis construir um templo em honra ao nome do S enhor , meu Deus,
8 »The word of Jehovah came to me, saying: You have shed much blood and have fought many wars. You are not to build a house for my name. This is because you have shed much blood on the earth in my sight.
8 mas o S enhor me disse: ‘Você matou muitos homens nas batalhas em que lutou. Derramou muito sangue diante de mim, por isso não será você quem construirá um templo em honra ao meu nome.
9 »You will have a son who will be a man of peace and rest, and I will give him rest from all his enemies on every side. His name will be Solomon peace, and I will grant Israel peace and quiet during his reign.
9 Contudo, você terá um filho que será um homem de paz. Darei a ele descanso de seus inimigos de todas as terras vizinhas. Seu nome será Salomão, e darei paz e tranquilidade a Israel durante seu reinado.
10 »He is the one who will build a house for my name. He will be my son, and I will be his father. I will establish the throne of his kingdom over Israel for a very ong time.«
10 Ele construirá um templo em honra ao meu nome. Ele será meu filho, e eu serei seu pai, e eu estabelecerei o trono de seu reino sobre Israel para sempre’.
11 »Now, my son, Jehovah is with you, and may you have success and build the house of Jehovah your God, as he said you would.
11 “Agora, meu filho, que o S enhor seja com você e lhe dê êxito na construção do templo do S enhor , seu Deus, exatamente como ele prometeu a seu respeito.
12 »May Jehovah give you discretion and understanding when he puts you in command over Israel, so that you may keep the law of Jehovah your God.
12 E que o S enhor lhe dê sabedoria e entendimento, para que você obedeça à lei do S enhor , seu Deus, ao governar Israel.
13 »You will have success if you are careful to observe the decrees and laws that Jehovah gave Moses for Israel. Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or discouraged.
13 Você terá êxito se for cuidadoso em obedecer aos decretos e estatutos que o S enhor ordenou a Israel por meio de Moisés. Seja forte e corajoso; não tenha medo nem desanime!
14 »I have taken great pains to provide for the temple of Jehovah three thousand seven hundred and fifty tons of gold, about thirty-seven thousand five hundred tons of silver, quantities of copper and iron too great to be weighed, and wood and stone. And you may add to them.
14 “Trabalhei arduamente para providenciar os materiais para a construção do templo do S enhor : 3.500 toneladas de ouro, 35.000 toneladas de prata e tanto ferro e bronze que não se pode pesar. Também juntei madeira e pedra, embora talvez você precise providenciar mais.
15 »You have many workmen: stonecutters, masons and carpenters, as well as men skilled in every kind of work
15 Você tem muitos trabalhadores habilidosos: cortadores de pedra, pedreiros, carpinteiros e artesãos de todo tipo,
16 in gold and silver, copper and iron, craftsmen beyond number. Now begin the work, and Jehovah will be with you.«
16 peritos nos trabalhos com ouro, prata, bronze e ferro. Agora comece a obra, e que o S enhor esteja com você!”.
17 David ordered all the leaders of Israel to help his son Solomon.
17 Então Davi ordenou a todos os líderes de Israel que ajudassem Salomão nesse projeto.
18 He said to them: »Is not Jehovah your God with you? And has he not granted you rest on every side? For he has handed the inhabitants of the land over to me, and the land is subject to Jehovah and to his people.
18 “O S enhor , seu Deus, está com vocês”, declarou. “Ele lhes deu descanso das nações ao redor. Entregou-as em minhas mãos, e agora estão sujeitas ao S enhor e ao seu povo.
19 »Devote your mind and heart to seek Jehovah your God. Begin to build the sanctuary of Jehovah God. That way you may bring the Ark of the Covenant of Jehovah and the sacred articles belonging to God into the Temple that will be built for the name of Jehovah.«
19 Agora busquem o S enhor , seu Deus, de todo o coração e de toda a alma. Construam o santuário do S enhor Deus, a fim de trazer a arca da aliança do S enhor e os utensílios sagrados para o templo edificado em honra ao nome do S enhor .”
