1 UJesu wakhuluma kubo njalo ngemizekeliso wathi:
1 Jesus tornou a falar-lhes por meio de parábolas:
2 “Umbuso wezulu unjengenkosi eyalungisela indodana yayo idili lomthimba.
2 The kingdom of the heavens has become like a king who made a wedding feast for his son,
3 Yathuma izinceku zayo kulabo ababenxusiwe edilini ukuba beze kodwa bala ukuza.
3 and sent his bondmen to call the persons invited to the wedding feast, and they would not come.
4 Yaphinda yathuma ezinye izinceku yathi, ‘Batsheleni labo abanxusiweyo ukuthi sengililungisile idili. Ngihlabe inkabi lenkomo ezinonisiweyo, konke sekulungile. Wozani edilini lomthimba.’
4 Again he sent other bondmen, saying, Say to the persons invited, Behold, I have prepared my dinner; my oxen and my fatted beasts are killed, and all things ready; come to the wedding feast.
5 Kodwa kabakunanzanga lokho, bazihambela, omunye waya ensimini yakhe, omunye emsebenzini wakhe.
5 But they made light of it, and went, one to his own land, and another to his commerce.
6 Abanye bazibamba izinceku zayo, bazihlukuluza bazibulala.
6 And the rest, laying hold of his bondmen, ill-treated and slew {them}.
7 Inkosi yathukuthela. Yathumela impi yayo yababhuqa labobabulali yatshisa idolobho labo.
7 And {when} the king {heard of it he} was wroth, and having sent his forces, destroyed those murderers and burned their city.
8 Yasisithi ezincekwini zayo, ‘Idili lomthimba selilungile kodwa labo engibanxusileyo bebengasafanele ukuza.
8 Then he says to his bondmen, The wedding feast is ready, but those invited were not worthy;
9 Hambani liye emahlanganweni ezindlela linxuse loba ngubani elimbonayo.’
9 go therefore into the thoroughfares of the highways, and as many as ye shall find invite to the wedding feast.
10 Ngakho izinceku zangena ezitaladini zabutha bonke abantu ezababonayo, abalungileyo lababi, indlu yomthimba yagcwala izethekeli.
10 And those bondmen went out into the highways, and brought together all as many as they found, both evil and good; and the wedding feast was furnished with guests.
11 Kodwa kwathi inkosi ingena ukuzabona izethekeli, yananzelela khonapho indoda eyeyingavunulanga izigqoko zomthimba.
11 And the king, having gone in to see the guests, beheld there a man not clothed with a wedding garment.
12 Yabuza yathi, ‘Mngane, ungene njani lapha ungelazigqoko zomthimba?’ Indoda yatsha amathe.
12 And he says to him, {My} friend, how camest thou in here not having on a wedding garment? But he was speechless.
13 Inkosi yasitshela izinceku zayo yathi, ‘Mbopheni izandla lezinyawo limphosele ngaphandle ebumnyameni, lapho okuzakuba khona ukukhala lokugedla kwamazinyo.’
13 Then said the king to the servants, Bind him feet and hands, and take him away, and cast him out into the outer darkness: there shall be the weeping and the gnashing of teeth.
14 Ngoba banengi ababiziweyo kodwa balutshwana abakhethiweyo.”
14 For many are called ones, but few chosen ones.
15 Lapho-ke abaFarisi basuka baphuma bayaceba ukuthi bambambe ngamazwi akhe.

16 Bathuma abafundi babo kuye behamba lamaHerodiya. Bathi, “Mfundisi, siyazi ukuthi uyindoda eqotho lokuthi ufundisa indlela kaNkulunkulu ngokweqiniso. Kawusuye uthathekile ngoba kawulani lokuthi bangobani.
16 And they send out to him their disciples with the Herodians, saying, Teacher, we know that thou art true and teachest the way of God in truth, and carest not for any one, for thou regardest not men's person;
17 Sitshele-ke, uthini ngalokhu? Kusemthethweni na ukuthela kuKhesari kumbe hatshi?”
17 tell us therefore what thou thinkest: Is it lawful to give tribute to Caesar, or not?
18 UJesu ngokwazi inhloso yabo embi wathi, “Lina bazenzisi, lenzani lizama ukungithiya na?
18 But Jesus, knowing their wickedness, said, Why tempt ye me, hypocrites?
19 Ake lingitshengise uhlamvu lwemali okuthelwa ngayo.” Bamlethela idenari,
19 Shew me the money of the tribute. And they presented to him a denarius.
20 wasebabuza wathi, “Ngumfanekiso kabani lo? Njalo luphawu lukabani lolu?”
20 And he says to them, Whose {is} this image and superscription?
21 Baphendula bathi, “NgokukaKhesari.”
21 They say to him, Caesar's. Then he says to them, Pay then what is Caesar's to Caesar, and what is God's to God.
22 Bathi besizwa lokhu bamangala. Ngakho basuka kuye bahamba.
22 And when they heard {him}, they wondered, and left him, and went away.
23 Ngalelolanga abaSadusi, abathi kakukho ukuvuka kwabafileyo, beza kuye belombuzo.

24 Bathi, “Mfundisi, uMosi wasitshela wathi, nxa indoda ingafa ingazalanga mntwana, umfowabo kamthathe umfelokazi amzalele abantwana.
24 saying, Teacher, Moses said, If any one die, not having children, his brother shall marry his wife and shall raise up seed to his brother.
25 Kwakulabafowabo abayisikhombisa phakathi kwethu. Wathatha owakuqala wasesifa, kwathi ngoba engazuzanga mntwana watshiyela umkakhe umfowabo.
25 Now there were with us seven brethren; and the first having married died, and not having seed, left his wife to his brother.
26 Kwaphinda lokho kowesibili lowesithathu njalo kwaze kwaba ngowesikhombisa.
26 In like manner also the second and the third, unto the seven.
27 Ekucineni wafa lowomfazi.
27 And last of all the woman also died.
28 Pho-ke, ekuvukeni kwabafileyo uzakuba ngumkabani phakathi kwabayisikhombisa njengoba bonke babemthethe?”
28 In the resurrection therefore of which of the seven shall she be wife, for all had her?
29 UJesu waphendula wathi, “Liyalahleka ngoba kaliyazi imibhalo lamandla kaNkulunkulu.
29 And Jesus answering said to them, Ye err, not knowing the scriptures nor the power of God.
30 Ekuvukeni kwabafileyo abantu kabayikuthatha loba bendiswe; bazakuba njengezingilosi ezulwini.
30 For in the resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are as angels of God in heaven.
31 Kodwa mayelana lokuvuka kwabafileyo, kalibalanga yini lokho uNkulunkulu akutsho kini ukuthi,
31 Quanto à ressurreição dos mortos, não lestes o que Deus vos disse:
32 ‘NginguNkulunkulu ka-Abhrahama, uNkulunkulu ka-Isaka loNkulunkulu kaJakhobe’? KasuNkulunkulu wabafileyo kodwa owabaphilayo.”
32 Eu sou o Deus de Abraão, o Deus de Isaac e o Deus de Jacó {Ex 3,6}? Ora, ele não é Deus dos mortos, mas Deus dos vivos.
33 Kwathi amaxuku abantu esizwa lokhu amangaliswa yikufundisa kwakhe.
33 E, ouvindo esta doutrina, as turbas se enchiam de grande admiração.
34 AbaFarisi sebezwile ukuthi uJesu wayesebathulisile abaSadusi, bahlangana ndawonye.
34 Sabendo os fariseus que Jesus reduzira ao silêncio os saduceus, reuniram-se
35 Omunye wabo owayeyisazi somthetho wamlinga ngombuzo wathi,
35 e um deles, doutor da lei, fez-lhe esta pergunta para pô-lo à prova:
36 “Mfundisi, yiwuphi umlayo omkhulu kulayo yonke eMthethweni?”
36 Mestre, qual é o maior mandamento da lei?
37 UJesu waphendula wathi, “ ‘Thanda iNkosi uNkulunkulu wakho ngenhliziyo yakho yonke langomphefumulo wakho wonke langengqondo yakho yonke.’
37 Respondeu Jesus: Amarás o Senhor teu Deus de todo teu coração, de toda tua alma e de todo teu espírito {Dt 6,5}.
38 Yiwo owokuqala njalo odlula yonke imilayo.
38 Este é o maior e o primeiro mandamento.
39 Owesibili unjengawo: ‘Thanda umakhelwane wakho njengoba uzithanda wena.’
39 E o segundo, semelhante a este, é: Amarás teu próximo como a ti mesmo {Lv 19,18}.
40 Wonke uMthetho labaPhrofethi kweyeme kuyonale imilayo emibili.”
40 Nesses dois mandamentos se resumem toda a lei e os profetas.
41 Kwathi abaFarisi behlangene ndawonye uJesu wababuza wathi,
41 Como os fariseus se agrupassem, Jesus interrogou-os:
42 “Licabangani ngoKhristu? Uyindodana kabani?”
42 Que pensais vós de Cristo? De quem é filho? Responderam: De Davi!
43 Wathi kubo, “Kungani pho uDavida wathi ekhuluma ngoMoya umbiza athi ‘Nkosi’? Ngoba uthi,
43 Como então, prosseguiu Jesus, Davi, falando sob inspiração do Espírito, chama-o Senhor, dizendo:
44 ‘INkosi yathi eNkosini yami:
44 O Senhor disse a meu Senhor: Senta-te à minha direita, até que eu ponha teus inimigos por escabelo dos teus pés {Sl 109,1}?
45 Pho, nxa uDavida esithi kuye, ‘Nkosi,’ angaba yindodana yakhe njani?”
45 Se, pois, Davi o chama Senhor, como é ele seu filho?
46 Kakho loyedwa owaba lelizwi lokumphendula. Kwathi-ke kusukela ngalolosuku kakho owaqunga isibindi sokumbuza eminye imibuzo.
46 Ninguém pôde responder-lhe nada. E, depois daquele dia, ninguém mais ousou interrogá-lo.
