1 The scattering one is coming up against your face. Guard the rampart. Watch the way, make your loins strong, firm up [your] power mightily.
1 O destruidor avança contra você, Nínive! Guarde a fortaleza! Vigie a estrada! Prepare a resistência! Reúna todas as suas forças!
2 For the LORD has turned away the glory of Jacob, as the glory of Israel. For the plunderers have plundered them, and have destroyed their vine branches.
2 O SENHOR restaurará o esplendor de Jacó; restaurará o esplendor de Israel, embora os saqueadores tenham devastado e destruído as suas videiras.
3 The shield of his mighty ones has become red; the mighty men [are] in scarlet; the chariots flame like iron torches in the day of his preparation. And the cypresses are made to quiver.
3 Os escudos e os uniformes dos soldados inimigos são vermelhos. Os seus carros de guerra reluzem quando se alinham para a batalha; agitam-se as lanças de pinho.
4 The chariots race madly in the streets; they shall run to and fro in the open squares. Their appearance [is] like torches; they dart about like lightnings.
4 Os carros de guerra percorrem loucamente as ruas e se cruzam velozmente pelos quarteirões. Parecem tochas de fogo e arremessam-se como relâmpagos.
5 He shall remember his nobles; they shall stumble in their walking; they shall make haste to its wall, and the covering shall be prepared.
5 Convocam-se as suas tropas de elite, mas elas vêm tropeçando; correm para a muralha da cidade para formar a linha de proteção.
6 The gates of the rivers shall be opened, and the palace shall be melted.
6 As comportas dos canais são abertas, e o palácio desaba.
7 And she who stood firm is uncovered and caused to go away. And her slave women are moaning like the sound of doves, beating their breast.
7 Está decretado: a cidade irá para o exílio, será deportada. As jovens tomadas como escravas batem no peito; seu gemer é como o arrulhar das pombas.
8 But Nineveh [is] like a pool of water from her days; yet they are fleeing. Halt! Halt! they cry, but none looks back.
8 Nínive é como um açude antigo cujas águas estão vazando. “Parem, parem”, eles gritam, mas ninguém sequer olha para trás.
9 Seize the silver; seize the gold; for [there is] no end to the treasures; riches from all precious vessels.
9 Saqueiem a prata! Saqueiem o ouro! Sua riqueza não tem fim; está repleta de objetos de valor!
10 [She is] empty and void and waste; and the heart melts, and the knees knock, and trembling [is] on all the loins; and all their faces collect heat.
10 Ah! Devastação! Destruição! Desolação! Os corações se derretem, os joelhos vacilam, todos os corpos tremem e o rosto de todos empalidece!
11 Where is the den of the lions, and the feeding place of the young lions, where the lion [and] the lioness walked, [and] the lion's cub, and no one made [them] afraid?
11 Onde está agora a toca dos leões? Onde o lugar em que alimentavam seus filhotes, para onde iam o leão, a leoa e os leõezinhos, sem nada temer?
12 The lion tears in pieces enough for his cubs, and strangles for his lionesses, and filled his holes [with] prey, and his dens with torn prey.
12 Onde está o leão que caçava o bastante para os seus filhotes e estrangulava animais para as suas leoas, e que enchia as suas covas de presas e suas tocas de vítimas?
13 Behold, I [am] against you, says the LORD of hosts, and I will burn her chariots in the smoke, and the sword shall devour your young lions. I will cut off your prey from the earth, and the voice of your messengers shall be heard no more.
13 “Estou contra você”, declara o SENHOR dos Exércitos, “queimarei no fogo os seus carros de guerra, e a espada matará os seus leões. Eliminarei da terra a sua caça, e a voz dos seus mensageiros jamais será ouvida”.
