1 And Solomon made an alliance by marriage with Pharaoh king of Egypt, and took Pharaoh's daughter and brought her into the city of David until he finished building his own house, and the house of the LORD, and the wall around Jerusalem.
1 Salomão fez um acordo com o faraó, rei do Egito, e se casou com uma das filhas dele. Trouxe-a para morar na Cidade de Davi até terminar a construção do palácio real, do templo do S enhor e do muro ao redor de Jerusalém.
2 Only the people sacrificed in high places because there was no house built to the name of the LORD until those days.
2 Nessa época, o povo de Israel oferecia sacrifícios nos altares das colinas de suas regiões, pois ainda não havia sido construído um templo em honra ao nome do S enhor .
3 And Solomon loved the LORD, walking in the statutes of David his father. Only he sacrificed and burnt incense in high places.
3 Salomão amava o S enhor , seguindo os decretos de seu pai, Davi, exceto pelo fato de oferecer sacrifícios e queimar incenso nos altares das colinas.
4 And the king went to Gibeon to sacrifice there. For that [was] the great high place. Solomon offered a thousand burnt offerings on that altar.
4 O lugar de adoração mais importante ficava em Gibeom, por isso o rei Salomão foi para lá e ofereceu mil holocaustos.
5 In Gibeon the LORD appeared to Solomon in a dream by night. And God said, Ask what I shall give you!
5 Naquela noite, o S enhor apareceu a Salomão num sonho e lhe disse: “Peça o que quiser, e eu lhe darei”.
6 And Solomon said, You have shown to Your servant David my father great mercy, according as he walked before You in truth and in righteousness and in uprightness of heart with You. And You have kept this great kindness for him, that You have given him a son to sit on his throne, as [it is] today.
6 Salomão respondeu: “Tu mostraste grande amor leal ao teu servo, meu pai, Davi, pois ele foi fiel, justo e verdadeiro diante de ti. Agora, continuaste a mostrar teu grande amor leal dando-lhe um filho para sentar-se em seu trono.
7 And now, O LORD my God, You have made Your servant king instead of David my father. And I [am] a little child; I do not know to go out or come in!
7 “Agora, ó S enhor , meu Deus, tu me fizeste reinar em lugar de meu pai, Davi, mas sou como uma criança pequena que não sabe o que fazer.
8 And Your servant [is] in the midst of Your people whom You have chosen, a numerous people who cannot be numbered nor counted for multitude.
8 Aqui estou, no meio do teu povo escolhido, uma nação tão grande e numerosa que nem se pode contar!
9 And give to Your servant an understanding heart, to judge Your people, to discern between good and bad. For who is able to judge this, Your great people?
9 Dá a teu servo um coração compreensivo, para que eu possa governar bem o teu povo e saber a diferença entre o certo e o errado. Pois quem é capaz de governar sozinho este teu grande povo?”.
10 And the word was good in the eyes of the LORD, that Solomon had asked this thing.
10 O Senhor se agradou do pedido de Salomão.
11 And God said to him, Because you have asked this thing, and have not asked for yourself long life, and have not asked riches for yourself, nor have asked the life of your enemies, but have asked for yourself understanding to judge justly,
11 Por isso, Deus respondeu: “Uma vez que você pediu sabedoria para governar meu povo com justiça, e não vida longa, nem riqueza, nem a morte de seus inimigos,
12 behold, I have done according to your words. Lo, I have given you a wise and an understanding heart, so that there was none like you before you, and after you none shall arise like you.
12 atenderei a seu pedido. Eu lhe darei um coração sábio e compassivo, como ninguém teve nem jamais terá.
13 And I also have given you that which you have not asked, both riches and honor, so that there shall not be any among the kings like you all your days.
13 Também lhe darei o que não pediu: riquezas e fama. Nenhum outro rei em todo o mundo se comparará a você pelo resto de sua vida.
14 And if you will walk in My ways, to keep My statutes and My commandments, as your father David walked, then I will lengthen your days.
14 E, se você me seguir e obedecer a meus decretos e mandamentos, como fez seu pai, Davi, eu lhe darei vida longa”.
15 And Solomon awoke, and, behold, [it was] a dream. And he came to Jerusalem and stood before the ark of the covenant of the LORD and offered up burnt offerings, and offered peace offerings, and made a feast to all his servants.
15 Então Salomão acordou e percebeu que tinha sido um sonho. Voltou a Jerusalém e se colocou diante da arca da aliança do S enhor , onde apresentou holocaustos e ofertas de paz. Depois, ofereceu um grande banquete a todos os seus oficiais.
16 Then there came two women, harlots, to the king, and stood before him.
16 Algum tempo depois, duas prostitutas compareceram diante do rei para resolver uma questão.
17 And the one woman said, O my lord, this woman and I live in one house. And I was bore a child with her in the house.
17 Disse uma delas: “Por favor, meu senhor, esta mulher e eu moramos na mesma casa. Eu dei à luz um filho quando ela estava comigo na casa.
18 And it happened the third day after I gave birth, this woman bore a child also. And we [were] together; there was no stranger with us in the house, except the two of us in the house.
18 Três dias depois, esta mulher também deu à luz um filho. Estávamos só nós duas na casa; não havia mais ninguém ali.
19 And this woman's child died in the night, because she laid on it.
19 “O bebê dela morreu durante a noite, porque ela rolou sobre ele enquanto dormia.
20 And she arose at midnight and took my son from beside me, while your servant was sleeping, and laid it in her bosom, and laid her dead child in my bosom.
20 Então ela se levantou de noite, tirou meu filho do meu lado enquanto eu dormia e o pôs para dormir ao lado dela. Depois, colocou o filho dela, que estava morto, em meus braços.
21 When I arose in the morning to give my child suck, behold, [it was] dead. And when I had looked at it in the morning, behold, it was not my son whom I bore.
21 De manhã, bem cedo, quando fui amamentar meu filho, ele estava morto! Quando o observei mais de perto, na claridade do dia, vi que não era meu”.
22 And the other woman said, No, but the living [is] my son, and the dead [is] your son. And this one said, No, but the dead is your son, and the living is my son. So they spoke before the king.
22 “Não!”, interrompeu a outra mulher. “O filho morto era seu, e o vivo é meu!” “Não!”, disse a primeira mulher. “O filho vivo é meu, e o morto era seu!” E assim elas discutiram diante do rei.
23 And the king said, The one says, This [is] my son who lives, and your son [is] the dead. And the other says, No, but your son [is] the dead, and my son [is] the living.
23 Então o rei disse: “Vamos esclarecer as coisas. As duas afirmam que o filho vivo é seu, e cada uma diz que o morto é da outra.
24 And the king said, Bring me a sword. And they brought a sword before the king.
24 Pois bem, tragam-me uma espada”. E trouxeram uma espada para o rei.
25 And the king said, Divide the living child in two, and give half to the one and half to the other.
25 Ele disse: “Cortem a criança viva ao meio e deem metade a uma mulher e metade à outra!”.
26 And the woman whose son [was] the living child said to the king, for her womb yearned over her son. And she said, O my lord, give her the living child, and in no way kill it. But the other said, Let it be neither mine nor yours; divide [it] !
26 Então, por causa de seu amor pelo menino, a verdadeira mãe gritou: “Não, meu senhor! Dê o menino a ela. Por favor, não o mate!”. A outra mulher, porém, disse: “Muito bem, ele não será nem meu nem seu. Dividam a criança ao meio!”.
27 And the king answered and said, Give her the living child, and in no way kill it. She [is] the mother of it.
27 Então o rei disse: “Não matem o bebê. Deem o menino à mulher que deseja que ele viva, pois ela é a mãe”.
28 And all Israel heard of the judgment which the king had judged. And they feared the king, for they saw that the wisdom of God [was] in him to do judgment.
28 Quando todo o Israel soube da decisão do rei, teve grande respeito por ele, pois viu a sabedoria que Deus lhe tinha dado para fazer justiça.
