1 My son, forget not my teaching, and let thy heart keep my commandments;
1 Meu filho, não se esqueça dos meus ensinos, e que o seu coração guarde os meus mandamentos,
2 For length of days, and years of life, and peace, will they increase unto thee.
2 porque eles aumentarão os seus dias e lhe acrescentarão anos de vida e paz.
3 Let kindness and truth not forsake thee; bind them about thy throat; write them upon the table of thy heart:
3 Não deixe que a bondade e a fidelidade abandonem você. Amarre-as ao pescoço; escreva-as na tábua do seu coração
4 So shalt thou find grace and good favor in the eyes of God and man.
4 e você encontrará favor e boa compreensão diante de Deus e das outras pessoas.
5 Trust in the Lord with all thy heart: and upon thy own understanding do not rely.
5 Confie no Senhor de todo o seu coração e não se apoie no seu próprio entendimento.
6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he will make level thy paths.
6 Reconheça o Senhor em todos os seus caminhos, e ele endireitará as suas veredas.
7 Be not wise in thy own eyes: fear the Lord, and depart from evil.
7 Não seja sábio aos seus próprios olhos; tema o
8 It will be healing to thy body, and marrow to thy bones.
8 Isto será como um remédio para o seu corpo e refrigério para os seus ossos.
9 Honor the Lord with thy wealth, and with the firstfruits of all thy products:
9 Honre o Senhor com os seus bens e com as primícias de toda a sua renda;
10 So shall thy storehouses be filled with plenty, and with new wine shall thy presses overflow.
10 e os seus celeiros ficarão completamente cheios, e os seus lagares transbordarão de vinho.
11 The correction of the Lord, my son, do not despise; and feel no loathing for his admonition;
11 Meu filho, não rejeite a disciplina do nem se aborreça com a sua repreensão.
12 Because whomever the Lord loveth he admonisheth; and as a father who delighteth in his son.
12 Porque o Senhor repreende a quem ama, assim como um pai repreende o filho a quem quer bem.
13 Happy the man that hath found wisdom, and the man that acquireth understanding.
13 Feliz é quem acha a sabedoria; feliz é aquele que alcança o entendimento.
14 For the obtaining of her is better than the obtaining of silver, and better than fine gold is her product.
14 Porque o lucro que a sabedoria dá é melhor do que o lucro da prata, e a sua renda é melhor do que o ouro mais fino.
15 She is more precious than pearls; and all the things thou valuest are not equal unto her.
15 A sabedoria é mais preciosa do que as joias, e tudo o que você possa desejar não se compara com ela.
16 Length of days is in her right hand: in her left are riches and honor.
16 Em sua mão direita ela oferece vida longa, e na sua mão esquerda ela tem riquezas e honra.
17 Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace.
17 Os seus caminhos são caminhos agradáveis, e todas as suas veredas são paz.
18 A tree of life is she to those that lay hold on her: and every one that firmly graspeth her will be made happy.
18 Ela é árvore de vida para os que a alcançam, e felizes são todos os que a retêm.
19 The Lord hath through wisdom founded the earth: he hath established the heavens through understanding.
19 O Senhor com sabedoria lançou os fundamentos da terra; com inteligência estabeleceu os céus.
20 By his knowledge were the depths split open, and the skies drop down the dew.
20 Pelo seu conhecimento os abismos se romperam, e as nuvens destilam o orvalho.
21 My son, let them not be removed from thy eyes; keep before thee sound wisdom and discretion:
21 Meu filho, que estas coisas não se afastem dos seus olhos; guarde a verdadeira sabedoria e o discernimento;
22 And they will be life unto thy soul, and grace to thy throat.
22 porque serão vida para a sua alma e enfeite para o seu pescoço.
23 Then wilt thou walk in safety on thy way, and thy foot will not strike against aught:
23 Então você andará seguro no seu caminho, e o seu pé não tropeçará.
24 When thou layest thyself down, thou shalt feel no dread; and as thou liest down, thy sleep shall be pleasant.
24 Quando se deitar, você não terá medo; sim, você se deitará e o seu sono será tranquilo.
25 Thou needest not to be afraid of sudden dread, neither of the unlookedfor tempest over the wicked, when it cometh.
25 Não temerá o pavor repentino, nem a desgraça dos ímpios, quando vier.
26 For the Lord will be thy confidence, and he will guard thy foot from being caught.
26 Porque o Senhor será a sua segurança e ele não deixará que os seus pés sejam presos.
27 Withhold not a benefit from him who is deserving it, when it is in the power of thy hand to do it.
27 Não deixe de fazer o bem aos que dele precisam, estando em sua mão o poder de fazê-lo.
28 Say not unto thy neighbor, Go, and return, and tomorrow will I give: when thou hast it by thee.
28 Não diga ao seu próximo: “Vá e volte mais tarde; amanhã eu terei algo para dar”, se você tem isso em suas mãos agora.
29 Contrive not against thy neighbor any evil, when he dwelleth in safety with thee.
29 Não planeje nenhum mal contra o seu próximo, pois ele mora ao seu lado e confia em você.
30 Quarrel not with any man without cause, if he have done thee no harm.
30 Não entre em litígio com alguém, se ele não tiver feito nenhum mal a você.
31 Envy not the man of violence, and choose none of his ways.
31 Não tenha inveja do homem violento, nem siga nenhum de seus caminhos;
32 For the froward is an abomination to the Lord; but with the upright is his goodwill.
32 porque o Senhor detesta o perverso, mas aos retos trata com intimidade.
33 The curse of the Lord is in the house of the wicked; but the habitation of the righteous will he bless.
33 A maldição do Senhor está sobre a casa dos ímpios, porém a morada dos justos ele abençoa.
34 If it concern the scornful he will himself render them a scorn; but unto the lowly doth he give grace.
34 Certamente ele zomba dos zombadores, mas dá graça aos humildes.
35 The wise shall inherit glory; but fools shall obtain disgrace as their portion.
35 Os sábios herdarão honra, mas aos tolos está reservada a vergonha.
