1 And the Lord addressed Job, and said,
1 O Senhor disse a Jó:
2 Will he that contendeth with the Almighty yet find fault? him that reproveth God answer this.
2 "Aquele que contende com o Todo-poderoso poderá repreendê-lo? Que responda a Deus aquele que o acusa! "
3 Then answered Job the Lord, and said,
3 Então Jó respondeu ao Senhor:
4 Behold, I am too vile: what shall I answer thee? my hand do I place on my mouth.
4 "Sou indigno; como posso responder-te? Ponho a mão sobre a minha boca.
5 Once have I spoken; but I will not answer: yea, twice; but I will not repeat it again.
5 Falei uma vez, mas não tenho resposta; sim, duas vezes, mas não direi mais nada".
6 Then answered the Lord unto Job out of the stormwind, and said,
6 Depois, o Senhor falou a Jó do meio da tempestade:
7 Do but gird up like a mighty man thy loins: I will ask thee, and do thou inform me.
7 "Prepare-se como simples homem que é; eu lhe farei perguntas, e você me responderá.
8 Wilt thou indeed annul my decree? wilt thou condemn me, in order that thou mayest appear righteous?
8 "Você vai pôr em dúvida a minha justiça? Vai condenar-me para justificar-se?
9 But if thou hast an arm like God, or if thou canst thunder loudly like him:
9 Seu braço é como o de Deus, e sua voz pode trovejar como a dele?
10 Then do deck thyself with excellence and greatness, and clothe thyself in majesty and glory.
10 Adorne-se, então, de esplendor e glória, e vista-se de majestade e honra.
11 Scatter abroad the ragings of thy wrath, and look on every proud one, and humble him.
11 Derrame a fúria da sua ira, olhe para todo orgulhoso e lance-o por terra,
12 Look on every proud one, and bend him low; and tread down the wicked in their place.

13 Hide them in the dust altogether: bind up their faces in concealment.
13 Enterre-os todos juntos no pó; encubra os rostos deles no túmulo.
14 Then will I also myself praise thee, when thy own right hand hath helped thee.
14 Então admitirei que a sua mão direita pode salvar você.
15 Only behold Behemoth, which I made near thee: grass he eateth like the ox.
15 "Veja o Beemote que criei quando criei você e que come de capim como o boi.
16 Only see, how great is his strength in his loins, and his force, in the muscles of his belly.
16 Que força ele tem em seus lombos! Que poder nos músculos do seu ventre!
17 He stretcheth out his tail like a cedar: the sinews of his loins are closely wrapped together.
17 A cauda dele balança como o cedro; os nervos de suas coxas são firmemente entrelaçados.
18 His bones are like pipes of brass: his frame is like bars of iron.
18 Seus ossos são canos de bronze, seus membros são varas de ferro.
19 He is the first in rank of the works of God: he that made him can alone bring his sword near unto him.
19 Ele ocupa o primeiro lugar entre as obras de Deus. No entanto, o seu Criador pode chegar a ele com sua espada.
20 But truly the mountains bear for him his food, and all the beasts of the field play there.
20 Os montes lhe oferecem os seus produtos, e todos os animais selvagens brincam por perto.
21 Under shady trees he lieth down, in the covert of the reeds, and swamp.
21 Sob os lotos se deita, oculto entre os juncos do brejo.
22 Shady trees cover him as his shadow: willows of the brook encompass him about.
22 Os lotos o escondem à sua sombra; os salgueiros junto ao regato o cercam.
23 Behold, a river sweepeth violently along, but he hasteneth not away: he remaineth quiet, though a Jordan rusheth up to his mouth.
23 Quando o rio se enfurece, ele não se abala; mesmo que o Jordão encrespe as ondas contra a sua boca, ele se mantém calmo.
24 Can one catch him before his eyes? pierce his nose by means of snares?
24 Poderá alguém capturá-lo pelos olhos, ou prendê-lo em armadilha e enganchá-lo pelo nariz?
