1 At that time sent Merodach–baladan, the son of Baladan, the king of Babylon, letters and a present to Hezekiah; for he had heard that he had been sick, and was become strong again.
1 Pouco tempo depois, Merodaque-Baladã, filho de Baladã, rei da Babilônia, enviou cartas e um presente para Ezequias, pois soube que o rei tinha estado muito doente e havia se recuperado.
2 And Hezekiah was rejoiced on their account, and showed them his treasure–house, the silver, and the gold, and the spices, and the precious oil, and the whole of his armor–house, and all that was found in his treasures: there was nothing that Hezekiah showed them not, in his house, and in all his dominion.
2 Ezequias recebeu com alegria os mensageiros babilônios e lhes mostrou tudo que havia na casa do tesouro: a prata, o ouro, as especiarias e os óleos aromáticos. Também os levou para conhecer seu arsenal e lhes mostrou tudo que havia nos tesouros do rei. Não houve nada em seu palácio nem em seu reino que Ezequias não lhes mostrasse.
3 Then came Isaiah the prophet unto king Hezekiah, and said unto him, What did these men say? and whence did they come unto thee? And Hezekiah said, From a far–off country are they come unto me, from Babylon.
3 Então o profeta Isaías foi ver o rei Ezequias e lhe perguntou: “O que esses homens queriam? De onde vieram?”. Ezequias respondeu: “Vieram da Babilônia, uma terra distante”.
4 And he said, What did they see in thy house? And Hezekiah said, all that is in my house have they seen; there is nothing that I did not show them in my treasures.
4 “O que viram em seu palácio?”, perguntou Isaías. “Viram tudo”, Ezequias respondeu. “Eu lhes mostrei tudo que possuo, todos os meus tesouros.”
5 And Isaiah said to Hezekiah, Hear the word of the Lord of hosts,
5 Então Isaías disse a Ezequias: “Ouça esta mensagem do S enhor dos Exércitos:
6 Behold, days are coming when all that is in thy house, and that which thy fathers have laid up in store until this day, shall be carried to Babylon: nothing shall be left, saith the Lord.
6 ‘Está chegando o dia em que tudo em seu palácio, todos os tesouros que seus antepassados acumularam até agora, será levado para a Babilônia. Não ficará coisa alguma’, diz o S enhor .
7 And of thy sons that will issue from thee, whom thou wilt beget, shall they take; and they shall be court–servants in the palace of the king of Babylon.
7 ‘Até mesmo alguns de seus descendentes serão levados para o exílio. Eles se tornarão eunucos e servirão no palácio do rei da Babilônia’”.
8 Then said Hezekiah to Isaiah, Good is the word of the Lord which thou hast spoken. He said moreover, For there shall be peace and stability in my days.
8 Ezequias disse a Isaías: “A mensagem do S enhor que você transmitiu é boa”. Pois o rei pensava: “Pelo menos haverá paz e segurança durante minha vida”.
