1 At that time sent Merodach–baladan, the son of Baladan, the king of Babylon, letters and a present to Hezekiah; for he had heard that he had been sick, and was become strong again.
1 Nesse tempo, Merodaque-Baladã, filho de Baladã, rei da Babilônia, enviou cartas e um presente a Ezequias, porque soube que estivera doente e já tinha convalescido.
2 And Hezekiah was rejoiced on their account, and showed them his treasure–house, the silver, and the gold, and the spices, and the precious oil, and the whole of his armor–house, and all that was found in his treasures: there was nothing that Hezekiah showed them not, in his house, and in all his dominion.
2 Ezequias se agradou disso e mostrou aos mensageiros a casa do seu tesouro, a prata, o ouro, as especiarias, os óleos finos, todo o seu arsenal e tudo quanto se achava nos seus tesouros; nenhuma coisa houve, nem em sua casa, nem em todo o seu domínio, que Ezequias não lhes mostrasse.
3 Then came Isaiah the prophet unto king Hezekiah, and said unto him, What did these men say? and whence did they come unto thee? And Hezekiah said, From a far–off country are they come unto me, from Babylon.
3 Então, Isaías, o profeta, veio ao rei Ezequias e lhe disse: Que foi que aqueles homens disseram e donde vieram a ti? Respondeu Ezequias: De uma terra longínqua vieram a mim, da Babilônia.
4 And he said, What did they see in thy house? And Hezekiah said, all that is in my house have they seen; there is nothing that I did not show them in my treasures.
4 Perguntou ele: Que viram em tua casa? Respondeu Ezequias: Viram tudo quanto há em minha casa; coisa nenhuma há nos meus tesouros que eu não lhes mostrasse.
5 And Isaiah said to Hezekiah, Hear the word of the Lord of hosts,
5 Então, disse Isaías a Ezequias: Ouve a palavra do Senhor dos Exércitos:
6 Behold, days are coming when all that is in thy house, and that which thy fathers have laid up in store until this day, shall be carried to Babylon: nothing shall be left, saith the Lord.
6 Eis que virão dias em que tudo quanto houver em tua casa, com o que entesouraram teus pais até ao dia de hoje, será levado para a Babilônia; não ficará coisa alguma, disse o Senhor .
7 And of thy sons that will issue from thee, whom thou wilt beget, shall they take; and they shall be court–servants in the palace of the king of Babylon.
7 Dos teus próprios filhos, que tu gerares, tomarão, para que sejam eunucos no palácio do rei da Babilônia.
8 Then said Hezekiah to Isaiah, Good is the word of the Lord which thou hast spoken. He said moreover, For there shall be peace and stability in my days.
8 Então, disse Ezequias a Isaías: Boa é a palavra do Senhor que disseste. Pois pensava: Haverá paz e segurança em meus dias.
