1 On that day shall this song be sung in the land of Judah: A strong city have we; his aid will he grant us as walls and defence.
1 Naquele dia se entoará este cântico na terra de Judá: Temos uma cidade forte, a que Deus pôs a salvação por muros e antemuros.
2 Open ye the gates, that there may enter in the righteous nation which guardeth the truth.
2 Abri as portas, para que entre nelas a nação justa, que observa a verdade.
3 The confiding mind wilt thou keep in perfect peace; because he trusteth in thee.
3 Tu conservarás em paz aquele cuja mente está firme em ti; porque ele confia em ti.
4 Trust ye in the Lord unto eternity; for in Yah the Lord is everlasting protection.
4 Confiai no SENHOR perpetuamente; porque o SENHOR DEUS é uma rocha eterna.
5 For he bendeth down the dwellers of the height; the lofty fortresshe layeth it low; he layeth it low, along the ground; he casteth it down to the dust.
5 Porque ele abate os que habitam no alto, na cidade elevada; humilha-a, humilha-a até ao chão, e derruba-a até ao pó.
6 The foot shall tread it down, the feet of the poor, the steps of the needy.
6 O pé pisá-la-á; os pés dos aflitos, e os passos dos pobres.
7 The path of the just is straight: thou, most upright, dost ever level the road of the just.
7 O caminho do justo é todo plano; tu retamente pesas o andar do justo.
8 Yea, on the path of thy judgments, O Lord, have we waited for thee; for thy name, and for the remembrance of thee, was the longing of our soul.
8 Também no caminho dos teus juízos, Senhor, te esperamos; no teu nome e na tua memória está o desejo da nossa alma.
9 In my soul have I longed for thee in the night; yea, with my spirit within me will I seek for thee; for when thy judgments are sent on the earth, the inhabitants of the world learn righteousness.
9 Com minha alma te desejei de noite, e com o meu espírito, que está dentro de mim, madrugarei a buscar-te; porque, havendo os teus juízos na terra, os moradores do mundo aprendem justiça.
10 If favor be shown to the wicked, he will not learn righteousness; in the land of uprightness will he deal unjustly, and will not regard the majesty of the Lord.
10 Ainda que se mostre favor ao ímpio, nem por isso aprende a justiça; até na terra da retidão ele pratica a iniqüidade, e não atenta para a majestade do Senhor.
11 Lord, thy hand was raised high, but they would not see: oh that they might see, and be ashamed, thy zeal for the people; yea, the fire which shall devour themthy enemies.
11 Senhor, a tua mão está exaltada, mas nem por isso a vêem; vê-la-ão, porém, e confundir-se-ão por causa do zelo que tens do teu povo; e o fogo consumirá os teus adversários.
12 Lord, thou wilt ordain peace for us; for also all our works hast thou accomplished for us.
12 Senhor, tu nos darás a paz, porque tu és o que fizeste em nós todas as nossas obras.
13 O Lord our God, lords have had dominion over us beside thee; but of thee only would we make mention,of thy name.
13 Ó Senhor Deus nosso, já outros senhores têm tido domínio sobre nós; porém, por ti só, nos lembramos de teu nome.
14 They are dead, they will not live again; they are departed, they will not rise again; therefore hast thou visited and destroyed them, and made to perish every memorial of them.
14 Morrendo eles, não tornarão a viver; falecendo, não ressuscitarão; por isso os visitaste e destruíste, e apagaste toda a sua memória.
15 Thou hast done more for the nation, O Lord, thou hast done more for the nation; thou hast glorified thyself: thou hast enlarged all the ends of the earth.
15 Tu, Senhor, aumentaste a esta nação, tu aumentaste a esta nação, fizeste-te glorioso; alargaste todos os confins da terra.
16 Lord, in trouble have they sought thee, they poured out earnest prayers when thy chastening was upon them.
16 Ó Senhor, na angústia te buscaram; vindo sobre eles a tua correção, derramaram a sua oração secreta.
17 Like as a pregnant woman, that is near giving birth, is in pain, and crieth out in her pangs: so have we been in thy presence, O Lord.
17 Como a mulher grávida, quando está próxima a sua hora, tem dores de parto, e dá gritos nas suas dores, assim fomos nós diante de ti, ó Senhor!
18 We have been pregnant and in pain, but it was as though we brought forth wind; we have not wrought any deliverance in the land; and the inhabitants of the world have not fallen.
18 Bem concebemos nós e tivemos dores de parto, porém demos à luz o vento; livramento não trouxemos à terra, nem caíram os moradores do mundo.
19 Thy dead shall live, my dead bodies shall arise. Awake and sing ye, that dwell in the dust; for a dew on herbs is thy dew, and the earth shall cast out the departed.
19 Os teus mortos e também o meu cadáver viverão e ressuscitarão; despertai e exultai, os que habitais no pó, porque o teu orvalho será como o orvalho das ervas, e a terra lançará de si os mortos.
20 Go, my people, enter thou into thy chambers, and shut thy door behind thee: hide thyself but for a little moment, until the indignation be passed away.
20 Vai, pois, povo meu, entra nos teus quartos, e fecha as tuas portas sobre ti; esconde-te só por um momento, até que passe a ira.
21 For, behold, the Lord cometh out of his place to visit the iniquity of the inhabitants of the earth on them: and the earth shall disclose her blood, and shall no more be a cover over her slain.
21 Porque eis que o Senhor sairá do seu lugar, para castigar os moradores da terra, por causa da sua iniqüidade, e a terra descobrirá o seu sangue, e não encobrirá mais os seu mortos.
