1 And it came to pass in the eleventh year, in the third month, on the first day of the month, that the word of the Lord came unto me, saying,
1 No décimo primeiro ano, no terceiro mês, no primeiro dia do mês, a palavra do Senhor veio a mim, dizendo:
2 Son of man, say unto Pharaoh the king of Egypt, and to his multitude, Unto whom art thou like in thy arrogance?
2 — Filho do homem, diga a Faraó, rei do Egito, e à multidão do seu povo: “A quem você é semelhante em sua grandeza?
3 Behold, Asshur was a cedar in Lebanon beautiful in its boughs, and a shadowing thicket, and high in stature; and among the thickboughed trees was its highest branch.
3 Eis que a Assíria era um cedro no Líbano, de lindos ramos, de sombrosa folhagem e de grande estatura, cujo topo chegava até as nuvens.
4 The waters made it great, the deep made it high, with its rivers it was flowing round the place where it was planted, and its ditches it sent forth unto all the trees of the field.
4 As águas o fizeram crescer; as fontes do abismo o fortaleceram, fazendo correr as suas torrentes no lugar em que ele estava plantado e enviando os seus ribeiros para todas as árvores do campo.
5 Therefore became its stature higher than all the trees of the field, and its boughs were multiplied, and its branches became long because of the multitude of waters, when it stretched itself forth.
5 Cresceu mais do que todas as árvores do campo; os seus galhos se multiplicaram e os seus ramos se alongaram, por causa das muitas águas durante o seu crescimento.
6 In its boughs made all the fowls of heaven their nest, and under its branches did all the beasts of the field bring forth their young, and under its shade dwelt all great nations.
6 Todas as aves do céu se aninhavam nos seus galhos, todos os animais do campo davam cria debaixo dos seus ramos, e todos os grandes povos se assentavam à sua sombra.
7 And it was beautiful in its greatness, in the length of its light branches; for its root was by many waters.
7 Ele era formoso na sua grandeza e na extensão dos seus ramos, porque as suas raízes estavam junto às muitas águas.
8 The cedars could not obscure it in the garden of God; the firs were not like its boughs, and the chestnuttrees were not like its branches: not any tree in the garden of God was like unto it in its beauty.
8 Os cedros no jardim de Deus não lhe eram rivais; os ciprestes não igualavam os seus ramos, e os plátanos não tinham renovos como os seus; nenhuma árvore no jardim de Deus se assemelhava a esse cedro na sua formosura.
9 Beautiful had I made it by the multitude of its light branches: so that all the trees of Eden that were in the garden of God, envied it.
9 Eu o fiz formoso, com a multidão dos seus ramos. Todas as árvores do Éden, que estavam no jardim de Deus, tinham inveja dele.”
10 Therefore thus hath said the Lord Eternal, Because thou wast so high in stature, and it had placed its highest branch between the thickboughed trees, and its heart was lifted up through its height:
10 — Portanto, assim diz o Senhor Deus: Visto que ela elevou a sua estatura, o seu topo chegou até as nuvens e o seu coração ficou orgulhoso da sua altura,
11 Therefore do I give it up into the hand of the mighty one of the nations; he shall surely deal with it at his pleasure; for its wickedness do I drive it out.
11 eu entregarei essa árvore nas mãos da mais poderosa das nações, que certamente lhe dará o tratamento que a sua impiedade merece. Eu a rejeitei.
12 And strangers, the fiercest of nations, cut it down, and cast it to the ground: on the mountains and in all the valleys fall its light branches, and its boughs are lying broken in all the ravines of the land; and all the people of the earth are gone away from its shade, and have cast it to the ground.
12 Os mais terríveis estrangeiros dentre as nações a cortaram e a abandonaram. Os seus galhos caíram sobre os montes e por todos os vales; os seus ramos jazem quebrados em todos os ribeiros da terra; todos os povos da terra se retiraram da sua sombra e a deixaram.
13 Upon its fallen fragments dwell all the fowls of the heaven, and on its branches are all the beasts of the field:
13 Todas as aves do céu habitarão nas suas ruínas, e todos os animais selvagens se acolherão sob os seus ramos.
14 In order that none of all the trees by the waters shall exalt themselves for their height, nor place their highest branch among the thickboughed trees, and that all those that are nourished by water shall not place themselves erect, because of their height; for they are all given up unto death, to the land of the nether world, in the midst of the children of men, with those that go down to the pit.
14 Isso aconteceu para que todas as árvores junto às águas não elevem a sua estatura nem levantem o seu topo até as nuvens, e para que as bem-regadas não venham a confiar em si, por causa da sua altura. Porque todas foram entregues à morte, às profundezas da terra, no meio dos filhos dos homens, com os que descem à cova.
15 Thus hath said the Lord Eternal, On the day when it went down to the grave I caused a mourning; I covered the deep for its sake, and I restrained its rivers, and the great waters were withheld; and I caused Lebanon to be clothed in black attire for its sake, and all the trees of the field were famished because of it.
15 — Assim diz o Senhor Deus: No dia em que a árvore desceu ao mundo dos mortos, fiz com que houvesse luto. Por causa dela, cobri o abismo, retive as suas cadeias, e as suas muitas águas se detiveram; cobri o Líbano de preto, por causa dela, e todas as árvores do campo ficaram murchas por causa dela.
16 Through the noise of its downfall I caused nations to quake, when I cast it down into the tomb with the others that descend into the pit: and in the land of the nether world comforted themselves all the trees of Eden, the choice and best of Lebanon, all that were nourished by water.
16 Fiz tremer as nações ao som da sua queda, quando a fiz descer ao mundo dos mortos com os que descem ao abismo. Todas as árvores do Éden, as mais bonitas e as melhores do Líbano, todas as que foram regadas pelas águas se consolavam nas profundezas da terra.
17 They also went down with it into the tomb unto those that were slain with the sword, and its helpers that had dwelt under its shade in the midst of the nations.
17 Também estas, com ela, descerão ao mundo dos mortos, para juntar-se com os que foram mortos à espada; sim, os que foram o braço dela e que estavam assentados à sua sombra entre as nações.
18 To whom art thou then like in glory and in greatness among the trees of Eden? And thou too shalt be brought down with the trees of Eden unto the land of the nether world: in the midst of the uncircumcised shalt thou lie with those slain by the sword; yes, he, Pharaoh, and all his multitude, saith the Lord Eternal.
18 — A quem, pois, você é semelhante em glória e em grandeza entre as árvores do Éden? No entanto, você descerá às profundezas da terra com as árvores do Éden. No meio dos incircuncisos, você jazerá com os que foram mortos à espada. Este é Faraó e toda a sua pompa, diz o Senhor Deus.
