1 And it came to pass in the eleventh year, in the third month, on the first day of the month, that the word of the Lord came unto me, saying,
1 E aconteceu no undécimo ano, no terceiro mês, no primeiro dia do mês, que a palavra do SENHOR veio a mim, dizendo:
2 Son of man, say unto Pharaoh the king of Egypt, and to his multitude, Unto whom art thou like in thy arrogance?
2 Filho do homem, dize a Faraó, rei do Egito, e à sua multidão: A quem és semelhante na tua grandeza?
3 Behold, Asshur was a cedar in Lebanon beautiful in its boughs, and a shadowing thicket, and high in stature; and among the thickboughed trees was its highest branch.
3 Eis que a Assíria era um cedro no Líbano, com ramos formosos, de sombrosa cobertura e de alta estatura, e o seu topo estava entre os ramos espessos.
4 The waters made it great, the deep made it high, with its rivers it was flowing round the place where it was planted, and its ditches it sent forth unto all the trees of the field.
4 As águas o fizeram grande, o abismo fê-lo crescer; os seus rios corriam por suas plantas, e ele enviava seus riachos a todas as árvores do campo.
5 Therefore became its stature higher than all the trees of the field, and its boughs were multiplied, and its branches became long because of the multitude of waters, when it stretched itself forth.
5 Por isso sua altura foi exaltada sobre todas as árvores do campo, e seus ramos se multiplicaram, e seus galhos se tornaram longos, por causa da quantidade de águas que o fazia crescer.
6 In its boughs made all the fowls of heaven their nest, and under its branches did all the beasts of the field bring forth their young, and under its shade dwelt all great nations.
6 Todas as aves do céu fizeram seus ninhos em seus ramos, e debaixo de seus galhos todos os animais do campo geraram seus filhotes, e debaixo da sua sombra, habitaram todas as grandes nações.
7 And it was beautiful in its greatness, in the length of its light branches; for its root was by many waters.
7 Assim ele era formoso na sua grandeza, na extensão dos seus ramos, porque a sua raiz estava junto às grandes águas.
8 The cedars could not obscure it in the garden of God; the firs were not like its boughs, and the chestnuttrees were not like its branches: not any tree in the garden of God was like unto it in its beauty.
8 Os cedros, no jardim de Deus, não o podiam esconder; as árvores de cipreste não eram como seus galhos, e as castanheiras não eram como seus galhos; nem nenhuma árvore no jardim de Deus era como ele em sua beleza.
9 Beautiful had I made it by the multitude of its light branches: so that all the trees of Eden that were in the garden of God, envied it.
9 Eu o fiz belo pela multidão de seus galhos; de maneira que, todas as árvores do Éden, que estavam no jardim de Deus o invejavam.
10 Therefore thus hath said the Lord Eternal, Because thou wast so high in stature, and it had placed its highest branch between the thickboughed trees, and its heart was lifted up through its height:
10 Portanto, assim diz o Senhor DEUS: Porquanto te elevaste em altura, e brotou seu topo entre os galhos espessos, e seu coração se eleva em sua altura;
11 Therefore do I give it up into the hand of the mighty one of the nations; he shall surely deal with it at his pleasure; for its wickedness do I drive it out.
11 eu, portanto, o entreguei na mão do poderoso dos pagãos; ele certamente tratará com ele; eu o levei para fora por sua perversidade.
12 And strangers, the fiercest of nations, cut it down, and cast it to the ground: on the mountains and in all the valleys fall its light branches, and its boughs are lying broken in all the ravines of the land; and all the people of the earth are gone away from its shade, and have cast it to the ground.
12 E estranhos, os terríveis das nações, o cortaram fora, e o deixaram; sobre os montes e em todos os vales seus ramos estão caídos, e seus galhos estão quebrados por todos os rios da terra; e todas as pessoas da terra se retiraram da sua sombra, e o deixaram.
13 Upon its fallen fragments dwell all the fowls of the heaven, and on its branches are all the beasts of the field:
13 Sobre a sua ruína, todas as aves do céu permanecem, e todos os animais do campo ficarão sobre seus galhos;
14 In order that none of all the trees by the waters shall exalt themselves for their height, nor place their highest branch among the thickboughed trees, and that all those that are nourished by water shall not place themselves erect, because of their height; for they are all given up unto death, to the land of the nether world, in the midst of the children of men, with those that go down to the pit.
14 ao fim de que nenhuma de todas as árvores ao longo das águas se exalte por sua altura, nem eleve sua copa entre as nuvens, nem confie em si mesma por sua estatura todas as que bebem água; porque são todas entregues à morte, às partes baixas da terra, no meio dos filhos de homens, com aqueles que descem à cova.
15 Thus hath said the Lord Eternal, On the day when it went down to the grave I caused a mourning; I covered the deep for its sake, and I restrained its rivers, and the great waters were withheld; and I caused Lebanon to be clothed in black attire for its sake, and all the trees of the field were famished because of it.
15 Assim diz o Senhor DEUS: No dia em que ele desceu ao túmulo, eu causei um pranto; cobri o abismo por ele, e retive suas correntes, e as grandes águas onde estava; e fiz com que o Líbano pranteasse por ele, e todas as árvores do campo desmaiassem por ele.
16 Through the noise of its downfall I caused nations to quake, when I cast it down into the tomb with the others that descend into the pit: and in the land of the nether world comforted themselves all the trees of Eden, the choice and best of Lebanon, all that were nourished by water.
16 Eu fiz as nações tremerem ao som de sua queda, quando o lancei ao inferno com aqueles que desceram à cova; e todas as árvores do Éden, a escolha e o melhor do Líbano, todos aqueles que bebem água, serão consolados nas partes baixas da terra.
17 They also went down with it into the tomb unto those that were slain with the sword, and its helpers that had dwelt under its shade in the midst of the nations.
17 Eles também desceram ao inferno, com ele os que foram mortos à espada; e os que foram seu braço, que habitavam debaixo de sua sombra no meio dos pagãos.
18 To whom art thou then like in glory and in greatness among the trees of Eden? And thou too shalt be brought down with the trees of Eden unto the land of the nether world: in the midst of the uncircumcised shalt thou lie with those slain by the sword; yes, he, Pharaoh, and all his multitude, saith the Lord Eternal.
18 A quem és tu assim, semelhante em glória e em grandeza entre as árvores do Éden? Todavia, tu serás trazido para baixo com as árvores do Éden às partes baixas da terra. Jazerás no meio dos incircuncisos com aqueles que são mortos à espada. Este é Faraó e toda a sua multidão, diz o Senhor DEUS.
