1 And it came to pass in the eleventh year, in the third month, on the first day of the month, that the word of the Lord came unto me, saying,
1 E sucedeu, no ano undécimo, no terceiro mês, ao primeiro do mês, que veio a mim a palavra do SENHOR, dizendo:
2 Son of man, say unto Pharaoh the king of Egypt, and to his multitude, Unto whom art thou like in thy arrogance?
2 Filho do homem, dize a Faraó, rei do Egito, e à sua multidão: A quem és semelhante na tua grandeza?
3 Behold, Asshur was a cedar in Lebanon beautiful in its boughs, and a shadowing thicket, and high in stature; and among the thickboughed trees was its highest branch.
3 Eis que a Assíria era um cedro no Líbano, de ramos formosos, de sombrosa ramagem e de alta estatura, e a sua copa estava entre os ramos espessos.
4 The waters made it great, the deep made it high, with its rivers it was flowing round the place where it was planted, and its ditches it sent forth unto all the trees of the field.
4 As águas o fizeram crescer, o abismo o exalçou; as suas correntes corriam em torno da sua plantação, e ele enviava os regatos a todas as árvores do campo.
5 Therefore became its stature higher than all the trees of the field, and its boughs were multiplied, and its branches became long because of the multitude of waters, when it stretched itself forth.
5 Por isso se elevou a sua estatura sobre todas as árvores do campo, e se multiplicaram os seus ramos, e se alongaram as suas varas, por causa das muitas águas quando brotava.
6 In its boughs made all the fowls of heaven their nest, and under its branches did all the beasts of the field bring forth their young, and under its shade dwelt all great nations.
6 Todas as aves do céu se aninhavam nos seus ramos, e todos os animais do campo geravam debaixo dos seus ramos, e todas as grandes nações habitavam à sua sombra.
7 And it was beautiful in its greatness, in the length of its light branches; for its root was by many waters.
7 Assim era ele formoso na sua grandeza, na extensão dos seus ramos, porque a sua raiz estava junto às muitas águas.
8 The cedars could not obscure it in the garden of God; the firs were not like its boughs, and the chestnuttrees were not like its branches: not any tree in the garden of God was like unto it in its beauty.
8 Os cedros, no jardim de Deus, não o podiam obscurecer; as faias não igualavam os seus ramos, e os castanheiros não eram como os seus renovos; nenhuma árvore no jardim de Deus se assemelhou a ele na sua formosura.
9 Beautiful had I made it by the multitude of its light branches: so that all the trees of Eden that were in the garden of God, envied it.
9 Formoso o fiz com a multidão dos seus ramos; e todas as árvores do Éden, que estavam no jardim de Deus, tiveram inveja dele.
10 Therefore thus hath said the Lord Eternal, Because thou wast so high in stature, and it had placed its highest branch between the thickboughed trees, and its heart was lifted up through its height:
10 Portanto assim diz o Senhor DEUS: Porquanto te elevaste na tua estatura, e se levantou a sua copa no meio dos espessos ramos, e o seu coração se exalçou na sua altura,
11 Therefore do I give it up into the hand of the mighty one of the nations; he shall surely deal with it at his pleasure; for its wickedness do I drive it out.
11 Eu o entregarei na mão do mais poderoso dos gentios, que lhe dará o tratamento merecido; pela sua impiedade o lançarei fora.
12 And strangers, the fiercest of nations, cut it down, and cast it to the ground: on the mountains and in all the valleys fall its light branches, and its boughs are lying broken in all the ravines of the land; and all the people of the earth are gone away from its shade, and have cast it to the ground.
12 E estrangeiros, das mais terríveis nações o cortarão, e deixá-lo-ão; cairão os seus ramos sobre os montes e por todos os vales, e os seus renovos serão quebrados por todos os rios da terra; e todos os povos da terra se retirarão da sua sombra, e o deixarão.
13 Upon its fallen fragments dwell all the fowls of the heaven, and on its branches are all the beasts of the field:
13 Todas as aves do céu habitarão sobre a sua ruína, e todos os animais do campo se acolherão sob os seus renovos;
14 In order that none of all the trees by the waters shall exalt themselves for their height, nor place their highest branch among the thickboughed trees, and that all those that are nourished by water shall not place themselves erect, because of their height; for they are all given up unto death, to the land of the nether world, in the midst of the children of men, with those that go down to the pit.
14 Para que todas as árvores junto às águas não se exaltem na sua estatura, nem levantem a sua copa no meio dos ramos espessos, nem as que bebem as águas venham a confiar em si, por causa da sua altura; porque todos estão entregues à morte, até à terra mais baixa, no meio dos filhos dos homens, com os que descem à cova.
15 Thus hath said the Lord Eternal, On the day when it went down to the grave I caused a mourning; I covered the deep for its sake, and I restrained its rivers, and the great waters were withheld; and I caused Lebanon to be clothed in black attire for its sake, and all the trees of the field were famished because of it.
15 Assim diz o Senhor DEUS: No dia em que ele desceu ao inferno, fiz eu que houvesse luto; fiz cobrir o abismo, por sua causa, e retive as suas correntes, e detiveram-se as muitas águas; e cobri o Líbano de preto por causa dele, e todas as árvores do campo por causa dele desfaleceram.
16 Through the noise of its downfall I caused nations to quake, when I cast it down into the tomb with the others that descend into the pit: and in the land of the nether world comforted themselves all the trees of Eden, the choice and best of Lebanon, all that were nourished by water.
16 Ao som da sua queda fiz tremer as nações, quando o fiz descer ao inferno, com os que descem à cova; e todas as árvores do Éden, a flor e o melhor do Líbano, todas as árvores que bebem águas, se consolavam nas partes mais baixas da terra.
17 They also went down with it into the tomb unto those that were slain with the sword, and its helpers that had dwelt under its shade in the midst of the nations.
17 Também estes com ele descerão ao inferno a juntar-se aos que foram traspassados à espada, sim, aos que foram seu braço, e que habitavam à sombra no meio dos gentios.
18 To whom art thou then like in glory and in greatness among the trees of Eden? And thou too shalt be brought down with the trees of Eden unto the land of the nether world: in the midst of the uncircumcised shalt thou lie with those slain by the sword; yes, he, Pharaoh, and all his multitude, saith the Lord Eternal.
18 A quem, pois, és semelhante em glória e em grandeza entre as árvores do Éden? Todavia serás precipitado com as árvores do Éden às partes mais baixas da terra; no meio dos incircuncisos jazerás com os que foram traspassados à espada; este é Faraó e toda a sua multidão, diz o Senhor DEUS.
