Amós 3
Leeser Old Testament (LEESER) vs NVI
1 Hear this word which the Lord hath spoken concerning you, O children of Israel, concerning the whole family which I have brought up from the land of Egypt, saying,
1 Ouçam esta palavra que o SENHOR falou contra vocês, ó israelitas; contra toda esta família que tirei do Egito:
2 Only you have I loved out of all the families of the earth: therefore will I visit upon you all your iniquities.
2 "Escolhi apenas vocês de todas as famílias da terra; por isso eu os castigarei por causa de todas as suas maldades".
3 Will two walk together, except they had agreed to do so?
3 Duas pessoas andarão juntas se não tiverem de acordo?
4 Will a lion roar in the forest, when he hath no prey? will a young lion send forth his voice out of his den, unless he have caught something?
4 O leão ruge na floresta se não apanhou presa alguma? O leão novo ruge em sua toca se nada caçou?
5 Can a bird fall in a snare upon the earth, when there is no gin for him? is ever a snare taken up from the ground, when it hath caught nothing at all?
5 Cai o pássaro num laço se não há nenhuma armadilha? Será que a armadilha do laço se desarma se nada foi apanhado?
6 Shall a cornet be blown in a city, and the people not become afraid? shall there be evil in a city, and the Lord have not done it?
6 Quando a trombeta toca na cidade, o povo não treme? Ocorre alguma desgraça na cidade, sem que o SENHOR a tenha mandado?
7 For the Lord Eternal will do nothing, unless he have revealed his secret unto his servants the prophets.
7 Certamente o SENHOR Soberano não faz coisa alguma sem revelar o seu plano aos seus servos, os profetas.
8 The lion hath roared, who will not fear? the Lord Eternal hath spoken, who will not prophesy?
8 O leão rugiu, quem não temerá? O SENHOR Soberano falou, quem não profetizará?
9 Publish at the palaces in Ashdod, and at the palaces in the land of Egypt, and say, Assemble yourselves upon the mountains of Samaria, and behold the great confusions in her midst, and the oppressions that are within her.
9 Proclamem os palácios de Asdode e do Egito: "Reúnam-se nos montes de Samaria para verem o grande tumulto que há ali e a opressão no meio do seu povo".
10 For they know not how to act rightly, saith the Lord, who treasure up violence and robbery in their palaces.
10 "Eles não sabem como agir direito", declara o SENHOR, "eles, que acumulam em seus palácios o que roubaram e saquearam".
11 Therefore thus hath said the Lord Eternal, The adversary is there and surroundeth the land: and he shall bring down from thee thy strength, and thy palaces shall be plundered.
11 Portanto, assim diz o SENHOR Soberano: "Um inimigo está cercando o país. Ele derrubará as suas fortalezas e saqueará os seus palácios".
12 Thus hath said the Lord, As the shepherd snatcheth out of the mouth of the lion at most two legbones, or a tip of the ear: so shall be delivered the children of Israel that sit in Samaria on the corner of a bed, and on Damascus couches.
12 Assim diz o SENHOR: "Assim como o pastor arranca da boca do leão só dois ossos da perna ou um pedaço da orelha, assim serão arrancados os israelitas de Samaria, com um canto de cama e um pedaço de sofá.
13 Hear ye, and give warning in the house of Jacob, saith the Lord Eternal, the God of hosts.
13 "Ouçam isto e testemunhem contra a descendência de Jacó", declara o SENHOR Soberano, o Deus dos Exércitos.
14 For on the day when I visit the transgressions of Israel upon him, will I also inflict punishment on the altars of Bethel: and then shall be hewn off the horns of the altar, and they shall fall to the ground.
14 "No dia em que eu castigar Israel por causa dos seus pecados, destruirei os altares de Betel; as pontas do altar serão cortadas e cairão no chão.
15 And I will smite the winterhouse together with the summerhouse: and the houses of ivory shall disappear, and the great houses shall be no more, saith the Lord.
15 Derrubarei a casa de inverno junto com a casa de verão; as casas enfeitadas de marfim serão destruídas, e as mansões desaparecerão", declara o SENHOR.
