1 And when Solomon had made an end of praying, a fire came down from heaven, and consumed the burntoffering and the sacrifices; and the glory of the Lord filled the house.
1 Quando Salomão terminou de orar, desceu fogo do céu e queimou os holocaustos e os sacrifícios, e a presença gloriosa do S enhor encheu o templo.
2 And the priests were not able to enter into the house of the Lord; because the glory of the Lord had filled the Lords house.
2 Os sacerdotes não podiam entrar no templo do S enhor , pois a presença gloriosa do S enhor havia enchido o templo
3 And all the children of Israel were looking on as the fire came down, and the glory of the Lord was resting upon the house; and they kneeled down with their faces to the ground upon the pavement, and prostrated themselves, and gave thanks unto the Lord, for he is good; because unto everlasting endureth his kindness.
3 Quando todos os israelitas viram o fogo descer e a presença gloriosa do S enhor encher o templo, prostraram-se com o rosto no chão, adoraram e louvaram o S enhor , dizendo: “Ele é bom! Seu amor dura para sempre!”.
4 And the king and all the people offered sacrifices before the Lord.
4 Então o rei e todo o povo ofereceram sacrifícios ao S enhor .
5 And king Solomon offered a sacrifice of twenty and two thousand oxen, and a hundred and twenty thousand sheep: and so they dedicated the house of God, the king and all the people.
5 O rei Salomão apresentou um sacrifício de 22 mil bois e 120 mil ovelhas. Assim, o rei e todo o povo fizeram a dedicação do templo do S enhor .
6 And the priests were standing on their stations, and the Levites with the instruments of the music of the Lord, which king David had made to give thanks unto the Lord, because unto everlasting endureth his kindness, with the song of praise of David in their hand; and the priests blew the trumpets opposite to them, and all Israel were standing.
6 Os sacerdotes tomaram seus lugares designados, bem como os levitas, que cantavam: “Seu amor dura para sempre!”. Os levitas acompanhavam o cântico com os instrumentos musicais que o rei Davi tinha feito para louvar o S enhor . Os sacerdotes, de frente para os levitas, tocavam as trombetas, e todo o Israel estava em pé.
7 And Solomon hallowed the interior of the court that was before the house of the Lord; for he prepared there the burntofferings, and the fat of the peaceofferings; because the copper altar which Solomon had made was not able to contain the burntofferings, and the meatofferings, and the fat.
7 Em seguida, Salomão consagrou a parte central do pátio em frente ao templo do S enhor . Ali apresentou holocaustos e a gordura das ofertas de paz, pois o altar de bronze que ele havia construído era pequeno demais para tantos holocaustos, ofertas de cereal e gordura das ofertas de paz.
8 And Solomon held the feast at that time seven days, and all Israel with him, a very great assembly, from the entrance of Chamath unto the river of Egypt.
8 Durante os sete dias seguintes, Salomão e todo o Israel celebraram a Festa das Cabanas. Uma grande multidão havia se reunido, de lugares distantes como Lebo-Hamate, ao norte, e o ribeiro do Egito, ao sul.
9 And they held on the eighth day a solemn assembly; for the dedication of the altar they held seven days, and the feast seven days.
9 No oitavo dia, foi realizada uma cerimônia de encerramento, pois haviam comemorado a dedicação do altar por sete dias e a Festa das Cabanas por mais sete dias.
10 And on the threeandtwentieth day of the seventh month he dismissed the people unto their tents, joyful and glad of heart because of the good that the Lord had done for David, and for Solomon, and for Israel his people.
10 Terminada a festa, Salomão mandou o povo para casa. Foram embora alegres e exultantes, pois o S enhor tinha mostrado toda a sua bondade a Davi, a Salomão e a seu povo, Israel.
11 Thus did Solomon complete the house of the Lord, and the kings house; and in all that came into Solomons heart to make in the house of the Lord, and in his own house, he prospered.
11 Salomão terminou o templo do S enhor e o palácio real. Concluiu tudo que havia planejado fazer na construção do templo e do palácio.
12 Then appeared the Lord to Solomon during the night, and said unto him, I have heard thy prayer, and I have made choice of this place for myself as a house of sacrifice.
12 Então, certa noite, o S enhor lhe apareceu e disse: “Ouvi sua oração e escolhi este templo como o lugar para se fazer sacrifícios.
13 If I shut up the heavens that there be no rain, or if I give a charge to the locusts to devour off the land, or if I send a pestilence among my people:
13 Se, por vezes, eu fechar o céu para que não chova, ou ordenar que gafanhotos devorem suas colheitas, ou enviar pragas entre meu povo,
14 And if my people, over whom my name is called, do then humble themselves, and pray, and seek my presence, and turn away from their evil ways: then will I also hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
14 então, se meu povo, que se chama pelo meu nome, humilhar-se e orar, buscar minha presença e afastar-se de seus maus caminhos, eu os ouvirei dos céus, perdoarei seus pecados e restaurarei sua terra.
15 Now, my eyes shall be open, and my ears attentive unto the prayer on this place.
15 Olharei e ouvirei atentamente cada oração feita neste lugar.
16 And now I have chosen and hallowed this house, that my name may be there for ever; and my eyes and my heart shall be there at all times.
16 Pois escolhi e consagrei este templo, onde meu nome será honrado para sempre. Olharei continuamente para ele, com todo o meu coração.
17 And as for thee, if thou wilt walk before me, as David thy father hath walked, so as to do in accordance with all that I have commanded thee, and wilt keep my statutes and my ordinances:
17 “Quanto a você, se me seguir fielmente, como fez seu pai, Davi, obedecendo a todos os meus mandamentos, decretos e estatutos,
18 Then will I establish the throne of thy kingdom, just as I have covenanted with David thy father, saying, There shall never fail thee a man to be ruler in Israel.
18 estabelecerei o trono de sua dinastia. Pois fiz esta aliança com seu pai, Davi: ‘Um de seus descendentes sempre governará Israel’.
19 But if ye will indeed turn away, and forsake my statutes and my commandments, which I have set before you, and will go and serve other gods, and bow down to them:
19 “Mas, se você ou seus descendentes me abandonarem e desobedecerem a meus decretos e mandamentos, seguindo e adorando outros deuses,
20 Then will I pluck them up out of my land which I have given unto them; and this house, which I have hallowed for my name, will I cast away from my sight, and I will render it to be for a proverb and for a byword among all the people.
20 arrancarei o povo desta terra que lhe dei. Rejeitarei este templo que consagrei em honra ao meu nome, e farei dele objeto de zombaria e desprezo entre as nações.
21 And this house, which hath been so exalted, shall become an astonishment to every one that passeth by it: so that he will say, Why hath the Lord done thus unto this land, and unto this house?
21 E, embora este templo seja agora imponente, todos que passarem perto dele ficarão chocados. Perguntarão: ‘Por que o S enhor fez coisas tão terríveis com esta terra e com este templo?’.
22 And men shall then say, For the cause that they forsook the Lord the God of their fathers, who had brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, and they took hold of other gods, and bowed down to them, and served them: therefore hath he brought upon them all this evil.
22 “E a resposta será: ‘Porque os israelitas abandonaram o S enhor , o Deus de seus antepassados, que os tirou da terra do Egito e, em lugar dele, adoraram outros deuses e se prostraram diante deles. Por isso ele trouxe sobre eles todas essas calamidades’”.
