1 And when David was old and full of days, he made Solomon his son king over Israel.
1 Já envelhecido e de idade avançada, Davi fez do seu filho Salomão rei sobre Israel.
2 And he gathered together all the princes of Israel, with the priests and the Levites.
2 Ele reuniu todos os líderes de Israel, bem como os sacerdotes e os levitas.
3 And then were numbered the Levites from thirty years old and upward: and their number by their polls, of men, was thirty and eight thousand.
3 Os levitas de trinta anos para cima foram contados, e o número total deles chegou a trinta e oito mil.
4 Of these were twenty and four thousand to superintend the work of the house of the Lord; and six thousand were officers and judges;
4 Davi escolheu vinte e quatro mil desses para supervisionarem o trabalho do templo do Senhor e seis mil para serem oficiais e juízes;
5 And four thousand were gatekeepers: and four thousand those who praised the Lord with the instruments which I have made, to praise therewith.
5 quatro mil para serem guardas das portas e quatro mil para louvarem o Senhor com os instrumentos musicais que Davi preparou com esse propósito.
6 And David divided them into divisions after the sons of Levi, after Gershon, Kehath, and Merari.
6 Davi repartiu os levitas em grupos que descendiam dos filhos de Levi, Gérson, Coate e Merari.
7 Of the Gershunites: La’dan, and Shim’i.
7 Dos filhos de Gérson: Ladã e Simei.
8 The sons of La’dan: The chief was Jechiel, and Zetham, and Joel, three.
8 Estes foram os filhos de Ladã: Jeiel, o primeiro, Zetã e Joel, três ao todo.
9 The sons of Shim’i: Shelomith, and Chaziel, and Haran, three. These were the chiefs of the families of La’dan.
9 Estes foram os filhos de Simei: Selomote, Haziel e Harã, três ao todo. Esses foram os chefes das famílias de Ladã.
10 And the sons of Shim’i were, Jachath, Zina, and Je’ush, and Beri’ah. These four were the sons of Shim’i.
10 E os filhos de Simei foram: Jaate, Ziza, Jeús e Berias. Esses foram os filhos de Simei, quatro ao todo.
11 And Jachath was the chief, and Zizah the second; but Je’ush and Beri’ah had not many sons: therefore were they accounted as one family division in the numbering.
11 Jaate foi o primeiro e Ziza, o segundo, mas Jeús e Berias não tiveram muitos descendentes, por isso foram contados como uma única família.
12 The sons of Kehath: ‘Amram, Yizhar, Hebron, and ‘Uzziel, four.
12 Dos filhos de Coate: Anrão, Isar, Hebrom e Uziel, quatro ao todo.
13 The sons of ‘Amram, Aaron and Moses: and Aaron was set apart, to sanctify him as most holy, he with his sons for ever, to burn incense before the Lord, to minister unto him, and to bless in his name for ever.
13 Estes foram os filhos de Anrão: Arão e Moisés. Arão foi separado, ele e seus descendentes para sempre, para consagrar as coisas santíssimas, oferecer sacrifícios ao Senhor, ministrar diante dele e pronunciar bênçãos em seu nome, para sempre.
14 But as regardeth Moses the man of God, his sons were named after the tribe of Levi.
14 Os filhos de Moisés, homem de Deus, foram contados como parte da tribo de Levi.
15 The sons of Moses were, Gershom, and Eli’ezer.
15 Estes foram os filhos de Moisés: Gérson e Eliézer.
16 Of the sons of Gershom, Shebuel was the chief.
16 Sebuel foi o chefe dos descendentes de Gérson.
17 And the sons of Eli’ezer were, Rechahyah the chief. And Eli’ezer had no other sons; but the sons of Rechahyah became exceedingly numerous.
17 Reabias foi o chefe dos descendentes de Eliézer. Eliézer não teve nenhum outro filho, mas Reabias teve muitos filhos.
18 Of the sons of Yizhar, was Shelomith the chief.
18 Selomite foi o chefe dos filhos de Isar.
19 The sons of Hebron: Jeriyahu the chief, Amaryah the second, Jachaziel the third, and Jekam’am the fourth.
19 Estes foram os filhos de Hebrom: Jerias foi o primeiro, Amarias, o segundo, Jaaziel, o terceiro, e Jecameão foi o quarto.
20 The sons of ‘Uzziel: Michah the chief, and Yishiyah the second.
20 Estes foram os filhos de Uziel: Mica, o primeiro, e Issias, o segundo.
21 The sons of Merari: Machli, and Mushi. The sons of Machli: El’azar, and Kish.
21 Dos filhos de Merari: Mali e Musi. Estes foram os filhos de Mali: Eleazar e Quis.
22 And El’azar died, and had no sons, but daughters; and the sons of Kish, their brethren, took them for wives.
22 Eleazar morreu sem ter filhos, pois teve apenas filhas. Os primos delas, os filhos de Quis, casaram-se com elas.
23 The sons of Mushi: Machli, and ‘Eder, and Jeremoth, three.
23 Estes foram os filhos de Musi: Mali, Éder e Jeremote, três ao todo.
24 These were the sons of Levi after their family divisions, even the chiefs of the families, as they were counted by numbering the names after their polls, that did the work for the service of the house of the Lord, from twenty years old and upward.
24 Esses foram os descendentes de Levi pelas suas famílias: os chefes de famílias conforme registrados por seus nomes e contados individualmente, ou seja, os de vinte anos para cima, que serviam no templo do Senhor.
25 For David said, The Lord the God of Israel hath given rest unto his people, and he dwelleth in Jerusalem for evermore.
25 Pois Davi dissera: "Uma vez que o Senhor, o Deus de Israel, concedeu descanso ao seu povo e veio habitar para sempre em Jerusalém,
26 And also the Levites are no more bound to carry the tabernacle, and all its vessels for the service thereof.
26 os levitas não mais precisam carregar o tabernáculo nem os utensílios usados em seu serviço".
27 Therefore by the last words of David were there numbered of the Levites those who were from twenty years old and above;
27 De acordo com as instruções finais de Davi, foram contados os levitas de vinte anos para cima.
28 Because their station was to be at the side of the sons of Aaron for the service of the house of the Lord, in the courts, and in the chambers, and by the purification of all holy things, and the work of the service of the house of God;
28 O dever dos levitas era ajudar os descendentes de Arão no serviço do templo do Senhor. Encarregavam-se dos pátios, das salas laterais, da purificação de todas as coisas sagradas e dos outros deveres na casa de Deus.
29 And for the shew–bread, which was put in rows, and for the fine flour for meat–offering, and for the unleavened cakes, and for that which is baked in the pan, and for that which is sodden, and for all manner of dry and wet measure;
29 Estavam encarregados do pão consagrado, da farinha para as ofertas de cereal, dos bolos sem fermento, de assar o pão e misturar a massa, e de todos os pesos e medidas.
30 And to stand every morning to thank and praise the Lord, and so also at evening,
30 Além disso, deviam se apresentar todas as manhãs e todas as tardes para agradecer e louvar ao Senhor, e fazer o mesmo
31 And at all the offering of burnt–offerings unto the Lord on the sabbaths, on the new moons, and on the appointed feasts, according to the number, and after the manner prescribed for them, continually before the Lord;
31 sempre que holocaustos fossem apresentados ao Senhor nos sábados, nas festas da lua nova e nas festas fixas. Deviam servir regularmente diante do Senhor, conforme o número prescrito para eles.
32 And that they should keep the charge of the tabernacle of the congregation, and the charge of the sanctuary, and the charge of the sons of Aaron their brethren, in the service of the house of the Lord.
32 Dessa maneira os levitas ficaram responsáveis pela Tenda do Encontro, pelo Lugar Santo e, pela assistência aos seus irmãos, os descendentes de Arão, e pelo serviço do templo do Senhor.
