¹ Deponde, pois, toda malícia, toda astúcia, fingimentos, invejas e toda espécie de maledicência.

² as newborn babes desire earnestly the pure mental milk of the word, that by it ye may grow up to salvation,

³ Ɛrɨ mǎmbɔ́ŋ ɛkwak ɛnyu yɔ mbɔnyunɛ mǎnaŋ bǎrɨŋɨ nɛ́nɛ ndǔ nɛpɛ́m ɛnɛka ɛnyǔ bɛrɨ̌ntɨ ɛbhɛn Acha Yesu Kristo átɔ̀ŋ bhɛsɛ.

³ if indeed ye have tasted that the Lord {is} good.

⁴ Twɔ́ yɛ ka ntá Acha. Yí achi mbɔ ntay ɛnɛn nɛchi nɛpɛ́m, ɛnɛ́n bǒ mmɨk bábyaka bɛ nɛpu yɛ̌nyɨŋ, kɛ Mandɛm ayap nɔ nɛbhɔŋ mɛnwɔp bɛsí bhi.

⁵ Bě nkwɔ bǎchi nɛpɛ́m. Bák yɛ ka mbɔ batay anɛ básɔ̀t bɛte ɛkɛt ɛnɛ Ɛfóŋó Mandɛm ábhàk arɛ́. Bǎchi bo abhɛn yi ábhʉ́rɛ́ nyáŋá bɛ mǎmbák nnɛrɛ́kɛt anɛ́ bachiǎkap, ndu bɛchyɛ mmʉɛt ɛyɛka nkɛm ntá yi ɛnyu ɛnɛ́ ɛ́chyɛ̀ Mandɛm maŋák ɛ̌ti Yesu Kristo.

⁵ yourselves also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.

⁶ Ɛchi mbɔ ɛnyu básɨ́ŋɨ́ amɛm Ɛkáti Mandɛm bɛ,

⁶ Because it is contained in the scripture: Behold, I lay in Zion a corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believes on him shall not be put to shame.

⁷ Bě abhɛn mǎnókó yi, ntá yɛka yi arɨ acha kɛ ntá bo abhɛn babhɨkɨ noko yi basɨŋ bɛ, “Nkúbhɛ́ ntay ɛnɛn batěkɛt bábyáká, nɔ́ kɛ nɛ́yíbhírí nɛ́rɔ́bhɛ́ ntay ɛnɛn nɛ́kɛ̀m ɛkɛt.”

⁷ To you therefore who believe {is} the preciousness; but to the disobedient, the stone which the builders cast away as worthless, this is become head of {the} corner,

⁸ Basɨŋ nkwɔ amɛm ɛkáti bɛ, “Ntay ɛnɛ́n nɛ́kʉ̀ chɔŋ bo mántɛm ɛkak mánkwɛ́n, nkúbhɛ́ nɔ́ kɛ nɛchi sɛtárɛ́bhɛ́ ɛsɛn sɛ́kʉ̀ bo mánkwɛn.” Bátɛ̀m ɛkak arɛ́ mbɔnyunɛ bápú bhʉɛrɛ Ɛyɔŋ Mandɛm nkúbhɛ́ mbɔ ɛnyu Mandɛm atɨ nyaka bɛ ɛ́mbák.

⁸ and a stone of stumbling and rock of offence; {who} stumble at the word, being disobedient to which also they have been appointed.

⁹ Kɛ mbák chi bhe, Mandɛm ayap bhe bɛ mǎmbak nnɛrɛ́kɛt anɛ bachiǎkap ntá Mfɔ ywɛsɛ. Bǎchi nyáŋá bɛsí Mandɛm. Ayap be bɛ mǎmbák bǒbhi mǎngátí nɔ́kɔ́ bho bɛtɨkɨ́ maknkay ɛbhi, yi mmu áfɛ́rɛ́ bhe ndǔ ɛjuri abhʉrɛ amɛm ɛrɛmɛ́ bɛdiɛ́rɛ́.

⁹ But *ye* {are} a chosen race, a kingly priesthood, a holy nation, a people for a possession, that ye might set forth the excellencies of him who has called you out of darkness to his wonderful light;

¹⁰ Mpok yɔ, bǎbhɨ́kɨ́ rɔ ntínso Mandɛm nɛmbak nɛ bhe kɛ nɛ́nɛ, bǎrɔ ntínso Mandɛm nɛmbak nɛ bhe.

¹⁰ who once {were} not a people, but now God's people; who were not enjoying mercy, but now have found mercy.

¹¹ Abhɛ́n ɛkɔŋ, bǎchi mankɔ nɛ bǎfʉɛrɛ fʉɛt fá amɨk. Ndu ɛchi nɔ, nnɨkmʉɛt, fɛrɛ́ ká amɔ́ ndǔ barak abʉ́abʉ anɛ mmʉɛt ɛyɛka ɛ́kʉ̀ mǎŋwaka bɛkʉ mbɔnyunɛ mɛnyǔ mɛnyɨŋ ɛbhɔ mɛ́nù nɛ bɛfóŋó ɛbhɛka.

¹¹ Beloved, I exhort {you}, as strangers and sojourners, to abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;

¹² Kɛ́m ká ɛrɨ́tɨ́ ɛkakánɛkɔ yɛka nɛntɨ bo abhɛn babhɨkɨ rɨŋɨ Mandɛm bɛ yɛ̌ bárɛ̀m chi ɛbʉ́bʉ ɛ̌ti yɛka, mánáŋ mángɔ́ bɛrɨ́ ɛbhɛn bǎkʉ̀, mánchyɛ kɛnókó ntá Mandɛm ndǔ nywɔp ɛnɛn yi átwɔ bɛtaŋ bo.

¹² having your conversation honest among the Gentiles, that {as to that} in which they speak against you as evildoers, they may through {your} good works, {themselves} witnessing {them}, glorify God in {the} day of visitation.

¹³ Ɛ̌ti Acha Yesu, sɛptí ká mmʉɛt ntá yɛ̌ntɨkɨ mǔnti ywɛka, nɛ yɛ̌ chi mfɔ ngo mmu bo mankɛm bachi antɛnɛ yi,

¹⁴ or to rulers as sent by him, for vengeance on evildoers, and praise to them that do well.

¹⁵ Mandɛm áyàŋ bɛ mǎnkʉ́ nɔ́kɔ́ mɛnyɨŋ ɛbhɛn bɛchi chak bɛ manyu ánchók bɛchɨŋtǐ bho abhɛn babhɨkɨ rɨŋɨ yɛ̌nyɨŋ.

¹⁵ Because so is the will of God, that by well-doing ye put to silence the ignorance of senseless men;

¹⁶ Bák ká mbɔ bo abhɛn bábhɔŋɔ ngǎngaŋ bɛbhak ndǔ mmʉɛt ɛyap. Kɛ bǎkɛ́ rɛm bɛ ɛ̌ti bǎbhɔŋ ngǎngaŋ, bǎkway bɛkʉ bɛbʉ́. Bák ká mbɔ bǒ bɛtok Mandɛm.

¹⁶ as free, and not as having liberty as a cloak of malice, but as God's bondmen.

¹⁷ Chiɛ́ nɔ́kɔ́ ka bo mankɛm kɛnókó.

¹⁷ Shew honour to all, love the brotherhood, fear God, honour the king.

¹⁸ Bǒ bɛtok, bɔ́ŋ ká nɛsɛptǐmʉɛt bɛsí bachi abhɛka nɛ kɛnókó kɛnkɛm. Bǎkɛ́ bhak ɛnyu ɛyɔ ndiɛrɛ nɛ abhɛn bɛrɨ̌ntɨ nɛ abhɛn bákɛ̀m be sayri. Bák ká ɛnyu yɔ yɛ̌ chi nɛ abhɛn báchí bɛběbɛbe.

¹⁸ Servants, {be} subject with all fear to your masters, not only to the good and gentle, but also to the ill-tempered.

¹⁹ Mmu anɛ ákɛpntɨ ndǔ ɛsɔŋɔri ɛnɛ báchyɛ̀ yi ndɛ́ndɛm ndu yi árɨ́ŋɨ́ bɛ Mandɛm achi nɛ yi, Mandɛm ǎbhɔŋ maŋák nɛ yi.

¹⁹ For this {is} acceptable, if one, for conscience sake towards God, endure griefs, suffering unjustly.

²⁰ Kɛ ntá mmu anɛ ákʉ́ ɛbɛ́ptí ɛnyɨŋ, mbák mándɛ́n wɔ ɔ́nkɛpntɨ, nsáy anɛ ɔ́bhɔ̀ŋ ǎbhák bɛ yi? Kɛ mbák ɔ́kʉ̀ ɛnyɨŋ ɛnɛ́ ɛchi chak kɛ ɔ́mbɔŋ ɛsɔŋɔri nɛ ɔ́nkɛpntɨ ndǔ ɛsɔŋɔri yɔ, Mandɛm ǎbhɔ́ŋ maŋák nɛ wɔ.

²⁰ For what glory {is it}, if sinning and being buffeted ye shall bear {it}? but if, doing good and suffering, ye shall bear {it}, this is acceptable with God.

²¹ Chi ndu ɛsɔŋɔri nɛ ɛkɛ́bhɛ́ntɨ kɛ Mandɛm abhɨŋɨ bhe mbɔ ɛnyǔ Yesu Kristo nkwɔ abhɔ̌ŋ nyaka ɛsɔŋɔri ɛ̌ti yɛka, arɔ be ɛrɨŋ bɛ mǎnkóŋó nɔ́kɔ́ bayat yi.

²¹ For to this have ye been called; for Christ also has suffered for you, leaving you a model that ye should follow in his steps:

²² Abhɨ́kɨ́ kʉ nyaka yɛ̌ bɛbʉ́, nɛ yɛ̌ mmu yi abhɨkɨ rwɔ.

²² who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth;

²³ Mpok básɔ̀kɔti yi, abhɨ́kɨ́ kɛmɛ yɛ̌ nsɔk. Mpok yi ághɔ̀ ɛsɔŋɔri, abhɨ́kɨ́ pa yɛ̌ mmu. Árɔ barak ankɛm ntá Mandɛm mmu átàŋ manyé ɛnyu ɛnɛ ɛchi chak.

²³ who, {when} reviled, reviled not again; {when} suffering, threatened not; but gave {himself} over into the hands of him who judges righteously;

²⁴ Yímbɔŋ ápɔ́kɔ́ bɛbʉ́ ɛbhɛsɛ mɛnkɛm amʉɛt ndǔ ɛkotákátí. Akʉ nɔ bɛ sɛ́ndɔ bɛbʉ́ ɛbhɛsɛ sɛ́mbak chak. Bɛfʉɛt ɛbhɛ́n báfyɛ́ yi amʉɛt bɛ́bǔ bhe.

²⁴ who himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, in order that, being dead to sins, we may live to righteousness: by whose stripes ye have been healed.

²⁵ Bǎchí nyaka mbɔ bághɔ́ŋɔmɛ́n anɛ́ ánɛ́mɛ́ ɛbhɨ, kɛ nɛ́nɛ bápɛtnsɛm ntá Mbabhɛri bághɔ́ŋɔmɛ́n, mmu achi Mbabhɛri bapɛ́m ayɛka.

²⁵ For ye were going astray as sheep, but have now returned to the shepherd and overseer of your souls.
