Jeremias 18

1 The word which came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying,
1 Palavra que veio a Jeremias da parte do SENHOR, dizendo:
2 Arise and go down to the potter's house, and there I will cause thee to hear my words.
2 Levanta-te e desce à casa do oleiro, e lá eu te farei ouvir as minhas palavras.
3 Then I went down to the potter's house; and, behold, he wrought a work upon [a] wheel.
3 Então eu desci à casa do oleiro, e eis que ele realizou um trabalho nas rodas.
4 And the vessel that he made of clay was broken in the hand of the potter: so he made it again another vessel, as seemed good to the potter to make [it].
4 E o vaso que ele fez de barro estava desfigurado na mão do oleiro. Então fez dele novamente outro vaso, como pareceu bem ao oleiro fazê-lo.
5 Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
5 Então a palavra do SENHOR veio a mim, dizendo:
6 O house of Israel, can I not do with you as this potter? saith the LORD. Behold, as the clay [is] in the potter's hand, so [are] ye in my hand, O house of Israel.
6 Ó casa de Israel, não posso eu fazer convosco como este oleiro? diz o SENHOR. Eis que como o barro está na mão do oleiro, assim estais vós em minha mão, ó casa de Israel.
7 In an instant I shall speak against Gentiles and against kingdoms, to pluck up and to pull down and to destroy.
7 No momento em que eu falar acerca de uma nação, e acerca de um reino, para remover completamente, e para demolir, e para destruí-lo,
8 But if these Gentiles shall turn from their evil, I will repent of the evil that I thought to do unto them.
8 se aquela nação, contra quem eu tenha pronunciado, se desviar de seu mal, eu me arrependerei do mal que pensei em fazer com eles.
9 And in an instant I shall speak concerning the nation and concerning the kingdom, to build and to plant [it];
9 E no momento em que eu falar a respeito de uma nação, e a respeito de um reino, para construir e para plantá-lo.
10 but if it should do evil in my sight, not hearing my voice, then I will repent of the good that I had determined to do unto them.
10 Se este fizer o mal aos meus olhos, e não obedecer a minha voz, então eu me arrependerei do bem com o qual eu disse que iria beneficiá-los.
11 Now therefore, speak to every man of Judah and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, saying, Thus hath the LORD said: Behold, I ordain evil against you and devise plans against you; return ye now each one from his evil way, and better your ways and your doings.
11 Agora, pois, vai, fala aos homens de Judá e aos habitantes de Jerusalém, dizendo: Assim diz o SENHOR: Eis que eu moldo o mal contra vós, e planejo um plano ruim contra vós. Convertei-vos agora cada um de seu mau caminho, e faça os seus caminhos e os seus feitos bons.
12 And they said, This is useless, for we must walk after our own devices, and we must each one do the imagination of his evil heart.
12 E eles disseram: Não há esperança. Porém nós andaremos após nossos próprios intentos malignos, e nós faremos cada um a imaginação de seu coração maligno.
13 Therefore thus hath the LORD said; Ask now among the Gentiles, who has heard such things: the virgin of Israel has done a very horrible thing.
13 Portanto assim diz o SENHOR: Perguntai vós agora no meio dos pagãos, quem ouviu tais coisas. A virgem de Israel fez uma coisa muito horrível.
14 Will anyone leave the snow of the rock of the field that flows from Lebanon? [or] shall they forsake the singular, cold, flowing waters?
14 Irá um homem deixar a neve do Líbano, por uma rocha do campo? Ou será abandonada a corrente de águas frias que vem de outro lugar?
15 Because my people have forgotten me, they have burned incense to vanity, and they have caused themselves to stumble in their ways, in the ancient paths, to walk in paths, [in] a way not trodden;
15 Porque o meu povo me abandonou, eles queimaram incenso à vaidade, e fizeram-nos tropeçar nos seus caminhos, e nas veredas antigas, para andar em veredas, em um caminho não construído.
16 to make their land desolate, and a perpetual hissing; every one that passes thereby shall be astonished and wag his head.
16 Para fazer a sua terra desolada, e um perpétuo assobio. Cada um que passar estará atônito, e sacudirá a sua cabeça.
17 I will scatter them as with an east wind before the enemy; I will show them the back, and not the face, in the day of their perdition.
17 Eu os espalharei como que com um vento oriental perante o inimigo. Eu lhes mostrarei as costas, e não a face, no dia da sua calamidade.
18 Then they said, Come, and let us devise devices against Jeremiah; for the law shall not perish from the priest, nor counsel from the wise, nor the word from the prophet. Come, and let us smite him with the tongue, and let us not consider any of his words.
18 Então eles disseram: Vinde, e planejemos intentos malignos contra Jeremias. Porque não perecerá a lei do sacerdote, nem o conselho do sábio, nem a palavra do profeta. Vinde, e firamo-lo com a língua, e não atentemos a qualquer de suas palavras.
19 Consider me, O LORD, and hear the voice of those that contend with me.
19 Dê atenção para mim, ó SENHOR, e escuta a voz daqueles que contendem comigo.
20 Shall evil be recompensed for good? for they have dug a pit for my soul. Remember that I stood before thee to speak good for them [and] to turn away thy wrath from them.
20 Será o mal recompensado por bem? Pois eles cavaram uma cova para minha alma. Lembra que eu permaneci diante de ti para falar-lhes o bem, e para desviar deles a tua ira.
21 Therefore deliver up their sons to the famine, and pour out their [blood] by the force of the sword; and let their wives be bereaved of their children, and [be] widows; and let their men be put to death; [let] their young men [be] slain by the sword in battle.
21 Portanto entrega os seus filhos à fome, e derrama o seu sangue pela força da espada, e sejam suas esposas enlutadas de seus filhos, e sejam viúvas; e os seus homens sejam mortos; seus jovens sejam mortos pela espada em batalha.
22 Let a cry be heard from their houses, when thou shalt bring a troop suddenly upon them; for they have dug a pit to take me and hid snares for my feet.
22 Ouça-se um clamor de suas casas, quando tu trouxeres de repente uma tropa sobre eles. Pois eles cavaram uma cova para me capturar, e esconderam armadilhas para os meus pés.
23 Yet, LORD, thou dost know all their counsel against me to slay [me]; do not forgive their iniquity, neither blot out their sin from thy sight, but let them be overthrown before thee; deal [thus] with them in the time of thine anger.:
23 Contudo, SENHOR, tu conheces todos os seus conselhos contra mim, para matar-me. Não perdoes a iniquidade deles, nem apague o seu pecado de tua vista, porém sejam eles derrubados diante de ti. Procede desta forma com eles no tempo de tua ira.
