Isaías 59

1 Behold, the LORD'S hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; nor his ear heavy, that it cannot hear:
1 Ouçam! O braço do S enhor não é fraco demais para salvá-los, nem seu ouvido é surdo para ouvi-los.
2 But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid [his] face from you, that he will not hear.
2 Foram suas maldades que os separaram de Deus; por causa de seus pecados, ele se afastou e já não os ouvirá.
3 For your hands are defiled with blood, and your fingers with iniquity; your lips pronounce lies; your tongue speaks evil.
3 Suas mãos estão manchadas de sangue, e seus dedos, imundos de pecado. Seus lábios estão cheios de mentiras, e sua boca transborda de corrupção.
4 No one calls for righteousness, nor [do any] judge by the truth; they trust in vanity, and speak vanities; they conceive trouble and bring forth iniquity.
4 Ninguém se preocupa em ser justo e íntegro; os processos judiciais se baseiam em mentiras. As pessoas concebem maldades e dão à luz o pecado.
5 They hatch cockatrice' eggs and weave the spider's web; whosoever shall eat of their eggs shall die, and if they should squeeze them, a viper shall come out.
5 Chocam serpentes venenosas e tecem teias de aranha. Quem comer seus ovos morrerá, quem neles pisar fará sair uma víbora.
6 Their cloth is unfit to be a garment, neither shall they cover themselves with their works; their works [are] works of violence, and the work of iniquity is in their hands.
6 Suas teias não servem de roupa, e ninguém pode se cobrir com elas. Tudo que fazem é cheio de pecado, e a violência é sua marca.
7 Their feet run to evil, and they make haste to shed innocent blood; their thoughts [are] thoughts of iniquity; wasting and destruction are their paths.
7 Seus pés correm para fazer o mal e se apressam em cometer homicídio. Pensam somente em pecar; por onde passam, deixam sofrimento e destruição.
8 The way of peace they did not know; nor is there anything straight about their ways; they have wilfully made themselves crooked paths; whosoever goes therein shall not know peace.
8 Não sabem onde encontrar paz, não entendem o que significa ser justo. Traçaram caminhos tortuosos, e quem os segue não sabe o que é paz.
9 Therefore judgment has withdrawn from us, and righteousness has never overtaken us: we wait for light, but behold obscurity; for brightness, [but] we walk in darkness.
9 Não há retidão em nosso meio, não sabemos viver de modo justo. Procuramos luz, mas só encontramos trevas; procuramos claridade, mas andamos na escuridão.
10 We grope for the wall like the blind, and as if [we had] no eyes we walk by touch; we stumble at noonday as in the night; [we are] in graves as dead [men].
10 Apalpamos as paredes, como cegos; andamos tateando, como quem não tem olhos. Mesmo no mais claro meio-dia, tropeçamos como se fosse noite. Entre os vivos, somos como os mortos.
11 We all roar like bears and mourn sore like doves: we look for judgment, but [there is] none; for saving health, [but] it has withdrawn from us.
11 Rugimos como ursos, gememos como pombas. Procuramos justiça, mas ela nunca chega; procuramos salvação, mas ela está distante de nós.
12 For our rebellions are multiplied before thee, and our sins have testified against us; for our iniquities [are] with us; and we know our sins:
12 Nossos pecados estão amontoados diante de Deus e testemunham contra nós; sim, sabemos que somos pecadores.
13 To rebel and to lie against the LORD, and to depart away from our God; the speaking of libel and rebellion, to conceive, and to speak from the heart words of falsehood,
13 Sabemos que nos rebelamos e negamos o S enhor ; demos as costas para nosso Deus. Sabemos que fomos injustos e opressores; planejamos cada uma de nossas mentiras.
14 and that which is right has departed, and righteousness withdrew afar off: for truth is fallen in the street, and equity could not enter.
14 Nossos tribunais se opõem ao que é certo; não há justiça em parte alguma. A verdade anda tropeçando pelas ruas, e a honestidade foi banida.
15 And the truth was taken captive; and he [that] departed from evil [was] imprisoned: and the LORD saw [it], and it was displeasing in his eyes because that which is right was lost.
15 Sim, a verdade sumiu, e quem rejeita o mal é perseguido. O S de não encontrar justiça alguma.
16 And he saw that [there was] no man and wondered that [there was] no intercessor; therefore his arm brought salvation unto him, and his righteousness, it sustained him.
16 Admirou-se porque ninguém se apresentou para ajudar os oprimidos. Então ele mesmo interveio para salvá-los com seu braço forte, e sua justiça o susteve.
17 For he put on righteousness as a coat of mail, and a helmet of saving health upon his head; and he put on the garments of vengeance [for] clothing and was clad with zeal as a cloak,
17 Vestiu a justiça como armadura e pôs na cabeça o capacete da salvação. Cobriu-se com a túnica da vingança e envolveu-se com o manto do zelo.
18 so as to give payment, so as to repay the vengeance of his enemies, and repay his adversaries; to the islands he will give recompense.
18 Ele retribuirá a seus inimigos pelo mal que fizeram; sua fúria cairá sobre seus adversários, e até os confins da terra lhes dará o castigo merecido.
19 So shall they fear the name of the LORD from the west, and his glory from the rising of the sun; for he shall come like a violent river impelled by the breath of the LORD.
19 No oeste, temerão o nome do S enhor ; no leste, o glorificarão. Pois ele virá como uma forte correnteza, impelida pelo sopro do S
20 And the Redeemer shall come to Zion and unto those that turn from the rebellion in Jacob, said the LORD.
20 “O Redentor virá a Jerusalém para resgatar em Israel aqueles que se afastaram de seus pecados”, diz o S
21 And this shall be my covenant with them, said the LORD; My spirit that [is] upon thee, and my words, which I have put in thy mouth, shall not depart out of thy mouth, nor out of the mouth of thy seed, nor out of the mouth of thy seed's seed, saith the LORD, from now one and for ever.:
21 “E esta é minha aliança com eles”, diz o S enhor . “Meu Espírito não os deixará, nem estas palavras que lhes dei. Estarão em seus lábios, nos lábios de seus filhos e nos lábios de seus descendentes, para sempre. Eu, o S enhor , falei!”
