Isaías 59

1 Behold, the LORD'S hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; nor his ear heavy, that it cannot hear:
1 Vocês estão pensando que o Senhor perdeu a força e não pode nos salvar? Ou pensam que ele está surdo e não pode nos ouvir?
2 But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid [his] face from you, that he will not hear.
2 Pois são os pecados de vocês que os separam do seu Deus, são as suas maldades que fazem com que ele se esconda de vocês e não atenda as suas orações.
3 For your hands are defiled with blood, and your fingers with iniquity; your lips pronounce lies; your tongue speaks evil.
3 Vocês têm as mãos manchadas de sangue e os dedos sujos de crimes; vocês só sabem contar mentiras, e os seus lábios estão sempre dizendo coisas que não prestam.
4 No one calls for righteousness, nor [do any] judge by the truth; they trust in vanity, and speak vanities; they conceive trouble and bring forth iniquity.
4 Não é para procurar a justiça que vão ao tribunal, e ninguém diz a verdade ao juiz. Todos confiam em mentiras e falsidades; inventam maldades e praticam crimes.
5 They hatch cockatrice' eggs and weave the spider's web; whosoever shall eat of their eggs shall die, and if they should squeeze them, a viper shall come out.
5 Os seus planos perversos são como os ovos de uma cobra venenosa: quem come os ovos morre, e, se um se quebra, dele sai outra cobra venenosa. Os seus planos não prestam para nada; parecem teias de aranha;
6 Their cloth is unfit to be a garment, neither shall they cover themselves with their works; their works [are] works of violence, and the work of iniquity is in their hands.
6 elas não servem para fazer roupa, e ninguém pode se vestir com elas. Tudo o que vocês fazem é mau, todas as suas ações são criminosas.
7 Their feet run to evil, and they make haste to shed innocent blood; their thoughts [are] thoughts of iniquity; wasting and destruction are their paths.
7 Vocês correm para fazer o que é errado e se apressam para matar pessoas inocentes; vocês pensam somente em maltratar os outros e, por onde passam, deixam a destruição e a desgraça.
8 The way of peace they did not know; nor is there anything straight about their ways; they have wilfully made themselves crooked paths; whosoever goes therein shall not know peace.
8 Não conhecem o caminho da paz, e todas as suas ações são injustas. Vocês preferem seguir caminhos errados e por isso não têm segurança.
9 Therefore judgment has withdrawn from us, and righteousness has never overtaken us: we wait for light, but behold obscurity; for brightness, [but] we walk in darkness.
9 Deus ainda não nos salvou, pois temos pecado, e por isso ele demora em nos socorrer. Procuramos a luz, mas só encontramos a escuridão; buscamos lugares claros, mas continuamos nas trevas.
10 We grope for the wall like the blind, and as if [we had] no eyes we walk by touch; we stumble at noonday as in the night; [we are] in graves as dead [men].
10 Andamos apalpando as paredes como se fôssemos cegos, como se não tivéssemos olhos; ao meio-dia tropeçamos como se fosse de noite e, em plena flor da idade, parecemos mortos.
11 We all roar like bears and mourn sore like doves: we look for judgment, but [there is] none; for saving health, [but] it has withdrawn from us.
11 Rugimos como ursos assustados, gememos como pombas; esperamos a salvação, porém ela demora; desejamos socorro, mas ele está longe de nós.
12 For our rebellions are multiplied before thee, and our sins have testified against us; for our iniquities [are] with us; and we know our sins:
12 Temos pecado muito contra ti, ó Deus, e os nossos pecados nos acusam. Não podemos esquecer as nossas maldades; reconhecemos que somos culpados.
13 To rebel and to lie against the LORD, and to depart away from our God; the speaking of libel and rebellion, to conceive, and to speak from the heart words of falsehood,
13 Não temos sido fiéis, temos nos revoltado contra ti e nos afastado de ti, o nosso Deus. Temos falado de crimes e de revoltas e temos feito planos para enganar os outros.
14 and that which is right has departed, and righteousness withdrew afar off: for truth is fallen in the street, and equity could not enter.
14 A justiça é posta de lado, e o direito é afastado. A verdade anda tropeçando no tribunal, e a honestidade não consegue chegar até lá.
15 And the truth was taken captive; and he [that] departed from evil [was] imprisoned: and the LORD saw [it], and it was displeasing in his eyes because that which is right was lost.
15 A verdade desapareceu, e os que procuram ser honestos são perseguidos. O ao ver que não havia justiça.
16 And he saw that [there was] no man and wondered that [there was] no intercessor; therefore his arm brought salvation unto him, and his righteousness, it sustained him.
16 Ele ficou espantado quando viu que não havia ninguém que socorresse o seu povo. Então com a sua própria força ele venceu e, por ser o Deus justo, conseguiu a vitória.
17 For he put on righteousness as a coat of mail, and a helmet of saving health upon his head; and he put on the garments of vengeance [for] clothing and was clad with zeal as a cloak,
17 O Senhor vestiu a couraça da justiça e pôs na cabeça o capacete da salvação; a vingança lhe serviu de roupa, a sua
18 so as to give payment, so as to repay the vengeance of his enemies, and repay his adversaries; to the islands he will give recompense.
18 Ele dará a cada um o castigo que merece. Na sua ira, castigará os seus inimigos, e povos de países distantes receberão o que merecem.
19 So shall they fear the name of the LORD from the west, and his glory from the rising of the sun; for he shall come like a violent river impelled by the breath of the LORD.
19 Todos, desde o Leste até o Oeste, Pois ele virá como uma forte correnteza que é levada por um vento furioso.
20 And the Redeemer shall come to Zion and unto those that turn from the rebellion in Jacob, said the LORD.
20 O Senhor Deus diz: “Eu virei a para salvar as pessoas do meu povo que se arrependerem.”
21 And this shall be my covenant with them, said the LORD; My spirit that [is] upon thee, and my words, which I have put in thy mouth, shall not depart out of thy mouth, nor out of the mouth of thy seed, nor out of the mouth of thy seed's seed, saith the LORD, from now one and for ever.:
