1 Now we beseech you, brethren, regarding the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered together unto him,
1 Irmãos, no que diz respeito à vinda de nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo e à nossa reunião com ele, nós vos exortamos
2 that ye not be easily shaken in understanding or be troubled neither by spirit nor by word nor by letter as from us, as if the day of Christ is at hand.
2 a que não vos demovais da vossa mente, com facilidade, nem vos perturbeis, quer por espírito, quer por palavra, quer por epístola, como se procedesse de nós, supondo tenha chegado o Dia do Senhor.
3 Let no one deceive you by any means: for [that day shall not come] except there come a falling away first and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition,
3 Ninguém, de nenhum modo, vos engane, porque isto não acontecerá sem que primeiro venha a apostasia e seja revelado o homem da iniquidade, o filho da perdição,
4 opposing and exalting himself against all that is called God, or divinity, so that he as God sits in the temple of God, making himself appear to be God.
4 o qual se opõe e se levanta contra tudo que se chama Deus ou é objeto de culto, a ponto de assentar-se no santuário de Deus, ostentando-se como se fosse o próprio Deus.
5 Remember ye not, that when I was yet with you, I told you these things?
5 Não vos recordais de que, ainda convosco, eu costumava dizer-vos estas coisas?
6 And ye know what impedes this now, that he might be revealed in his time.
6 E, agora, sabeis o que o detém, para que ele seja revelado somente em ocasião própria.
7 For the mystery of iniquity is already working, except that he who dominates now will dominate until he is taken out of the way.
7 Com efeito, o mistério da iniquidade já opera e aguarda somente que seja afastado aquele que agora o detém;
8 And then shall that Wicked [one] be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the Spirit of his mouth and remove with the clarity of his coming:
8 então, será, de fato, revelado o iníquo, a quem o Senhor Jesus matará com o sopro de sua boca e o destruirá pela manifestação de sua vinda.
9 [that wicked one], who shall come by the working of Satan with great power and signs and lying miracles,
9 Ora, o aparecimento do iníquo é segundo a eficácia de Satanás, com todo poder, e sinais, e prodígios da mentira,
10 and with all deception of iniquity [working] in those that perish because they did not receive the charity of the truth, to be saved.
10 e com todo engano de injustiça aos que perecem, porque não acolheram o amor da verdade para serem salvos.
11 Therefore, for this cause, God shall send the operation of error in them, that they should believe the lie;
11 É por este motivo, pois, que Deus lhes manda a operação do erro, para darem crédito à mentira,
12 that they all might be condemned who did not believe the truth, but consented to the iniquity.
12 a fim de serem julgados todos quantos não deram crédito à verdade; antes, pelo contrário, deleitaram-se com a injustiça.
13 But we should always give thanks to God for you, brethren, beloved of the Lord, because God has from the beginning chosen you to saving health through the sanctification of the Spirit and faith in [the] truth,
13 Entretanto, devemos sempre dar graças a Deus por vós, irmãos amados pelo Senhor, porque Deus vos escolheu desde o princípio para a salvação, pela santificação do Espírito e fé na verdade,
14 unto which he called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.
14 para o que também vos chamou mediante o nosso evangelho, para alcançardes a glória de nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo.
15 Therefore, brethren, stand fast and retain the doctrine which ye have been taught, whether by word or our epistle.
15 Assim, pois, irmãos, permanecei firmes e guardai as tradições que vos foram ensinadas, seja por palavra, seja por epístola nossa.
16 Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God, even our Father, who has loved us and has given [us] eternal consolation and good hope through grace,
16 Ora, nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo mesmo e Deus, o nosso Pai, que nos amou e nos deu eterna consolação e boa esperança, pela graça,
17 comfort your hearts and confirm you in every good word and work.:
17 consolem o vosso coração e vos confirmem em toda boa obra e boa palavra.
