1 And after this it, came to pass that David smote the Philistines and subdued them, and David took Methegammah out of the hand of the Philistines.
1 Depois disso, Davi atacou os filisteus, derrotou-os e tomou das mãos deles o controle daquela região.
2 He also smote those of Moab and measured them with a line, causing them to lie down on the ground, and he measured them with two lines, [with one] to put to death and the [other] full line to keep alive. And [so] the Moabites became David's servants, bringing presents.
2 Também derrotou os moabitas. Fez com que se deitassem no chão e os mediu com uma corda: os que ficaram dentro de duas medidas foram mortos, e os que ficaram dentro da terceira medida foram deixados com vida. Assim, os moabitas se tornaram servos de Davi e lhe pagavam tributo.
3 David smote also Hadadezer, the son of Rehob, king of Zobah, as he went to extend his border to the river Euphrates.
3 Davi também derrotou Hadadezer, filho de Reobe, rei de Zobá, quando aquele foi restabelecer o seu domínio sobre o rio Eufrates.
4 And David took from him a thousand seven hundred horsemen and twenty thousand footmen, and David hamstrung all the chariot [horses] but reserved of them [for] one hundred chariots.
4 Davi tomou-lhe mil e setecentos cavaleiros e vinte mil soldados de infantaria. Mutilou todos os cavalos dos carros de guerra, com exceção dos que puxavam cem deles.
5 And when the Syrians of Damascus came to succour Hadadezer king of Zobah, David slew of the Syrians twenty-two thousand men.
5 Os sírios de Damasco foram socorrer Hadadezer, rei de Zobá, mas Davi matou vinte e dois mil deles.
6 Then David put garrisons in Syria of Damascus, and the Syrians became servants to David, bringing presents. And the LORD saved David wherever he went.
6 Davi pôs guarnições na Síria de Damasco, e os sírios se tornaram servos de Davi e lhe pagavam tributo. E o Senhor dava vitórias a Davi por onde quer que ele ia.
7 And David took the shields of gold that were on the servants of Hadadezer and brought them to Jerusalem.
7 Davi tomou os escudos de ouro que eram usados pelos oficiais de Hadadezer e os trouxe a Jerusalém.
8 Likewise from Betah and from Berothai, cities of Hadadezer, King David took a great quantity of brass.
8 De Betá e Berotai, cidades de Hadadezer, o rei Davi tomou grande quantidade de bronze.
9 When Toi, king of Hamath, heard that David had smitten all the host of Hadadezer,
9 Quando Toí, rei de Hamate, soube que Davi tinha derrotado todo o exército de Hadadezer,
10 then Toi sent Joram, his son, unto king David, to greet him peacefully and to bless him because he had fought against Hadadezer and smitten him, for Hadadezer had wars with Toi. And [Joram] brought vessels of silver and vessels of gold and vessels of brass in his hand,
10 mandou seu filho Jorão ao rei Davi, para o saudar e cumprimentá-lo por ter lutado contra Hadadezer e por havê-lo vencido. Acontece que Hadadezer de contínuo fazia guerra a Toí. Jorão trouxe consigo objetos de prata, de ouro e de bronze,
11 which King David dedicated unto the LORD with the silver and gold that he had dedicated of all Gentiles which he subdued
11 que o rei Davi consagrou ao Senhor , juntamente com a prata e o ouro que já havia consagrado de todas as nações que havia subjugado:
12 of the Sirians and of the Moabites and of the sons of Ammon and of the Philistines and of Amalekites and of the spoil of Hadadezer, son of Rehob, king of Zobah.
12 da Síria, de Moabe, dos filhos de Amom, dos filisteus, de Amaleque e dos despojos de Hadadezer, filho de Reobe, rei de Zobá.
13 And David received fame when he returned from smiting of the Syrians in the valley of salt eighteen thousand [men].
13 Davi ficou ainda mais famoso quando, ao voltar do ataque aos sírios, matou dezoito mil homens no vale do Sal.
14 And he put garrisons in Edom; he put garrisons throughout all Edom, and all those of Edom became David's servants. And the LORD saved David wherever he went.
14 Pôs guarnições em todo o Edom, e todos os edomitas se tornaram servos de Davi. E o Senhor dava vitórias a Davi por onde quer que ele ia.
15 And David reigned over all Israel, and David executed justice and righteousness unto all his people.
15 Davi reinou sobre todo o Israel; julgava e fazia justiça a todo o seu povo.
16 And Joab, the son of Zeruiah, [was] over the host, and Jehoshaphat, the son of Ahilud, [was] the writer of chronicles;
16 Joabe, filho de Zeruia, era comandante do exército; Josafá, filho de Ailude, era cronista.
17 and Zadok, the son of Ahitub, and Ahimelech the son of Abiathar, [were] the priests, and Seraiah [was] the scribe,
17 Zadoque, filho de Aitube, e Aimeleque, filho de Abiatar, eram sacerdotes, e Seraías, escrivão.
18 and Benaiah, the son of Jehoiada, [was over] both the Cherethites and the Pelethites; and David's sons were priests.:
18 Benaia, filho de Joiada, era o comandante da guarda real. Os filhos de Davi, porém, eram seus ministros.
