1 In the seventh year of Jehu, Jehoash began to reign, and he reigned forty years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name [was] Zibiah of Beersheba.
1 No ano sétimo de Jeú, começou Joás a reinar e quarenta anos reinou em Jerusalém. Era o nome de sua mãe Zíbia, de Berseba.
2 And Jehoash did [that which was] right in the sight of the LORD all the time that Jehoiada, the priest, instructed him.
2 Fez Joás o que era reto perante o Senhor , todos os dias em que o sacerdote Joiada o dirigia.
3 But with all this, the high places were not taken away; the people still sacrificed and burnt incense in the high places.
3 Tão somente os altos não se tiraram; e o povo ainda sacrificava e queimava incenso nos altos.
4 And Jehoash said to the priests, All the money of the sanctified things that is brought into the house of the LORD, the money of the [redemptions of] each one that passes [the account], the money of each soul according to the estimation of each one, [and] all the money that comes into any man's heart to bring into the house of the LORD,
4 Disse Joás aos sacerdotes: Todo o dinheiro das coisas santas que se trouxer à Casa do Senhor , a saber, a taxa pessoal, o resgate de pessoas segundo a sua avaliação e todo o dinheiro que cada um trouxer voluntariamente para a Casa do Senhor ,
5 let the priests receive it, each man of his kinsmen; and let them repair the breaches of the house, wherever any breach shall be found.
5 recebam-no os sacerdotes, cada um dos seus conhecidos; e eles reparem os estragos da casa onde quer que se encontrem.
6 But it was so [that], in the year twenty-three of King Jehoash, the priests had not repaired the breaches of the house.
6 Sucedeu, porém, que, no ano vigésimo terceiro do rei Joás, os sacerdotes ainda não tinham reparado os estragos da casa.
7 Then King Jehoash called for Jehoiada, the priest, and the [other] priests and said unto them, Why do ye not repair the breaches of the house? Now, therefore, receive no [more] money of your kinsmen, but deliver it to repair the breaches of the house.
7 Então, o rei Joás chamou o sacerdote Joiada e os mais sacerdotes e lhes disse: Por que não reparais os estragos da casa? Agora, pois, não recebais mais dinheiro de vossos conhecidos, mas entregai-o para a reparação dos estragos da casa.
8 And the priests consented to receive no [more] money from the people, neither to be responsible to repair the breaches of the house.
8 Consentiram os sacerdotes, assim, em não receberem mais dinheiro do povo, como em não repararem os estragos da casa.
9 Then Jehoiada, the priest, took an ark and bored a hole in the lid of it and set it beside the altar, on the right side of the entrance to the house of the LORD; and the priests that kept the door put all the money [that was] brought into the house of the LORD in it.
9 Porém o sacerdote Joiada tomou uma caixa, e lhe fez na tampa um buraco, e a pôs ao pé do altar, à mão direita dos que entravam na Casa do Senhor ; os sacerdotes que guardavam a entrada da porta depositavam ali todo o dinheiro que se trazia à Casa do Senhor .
10 And when they saw that there was much money in the ark, the king's scribe and the high priest came up and counted the money that was found in the house of the LORD and guarded it.
10 Quando viam que já havia muito dinheiro na caixa, o escrivão do rei subia com um sumo sacerdote, e contavam e ensacavam o dinheiro que se achava na Casa do Senhor .
11 And they gave sufficient money into the hands of those that did the work and of those that had the responsibility of the house of the LORD; and they laid it out to the carpenters and builders that repaired the house of the LORD,
11 O dinheiro, depois de pesado, davam nas mãos dos que dirigiam a obra e tinham a seu cargo a Casa do Senhor ; estes pagavam aos carpinteiros e aos edificadores que reparavam a Casa do Senhor ,
12 and to the masons and hewers of stone and to buy timber and hewed stone to repair the breaches of the house of the LORD and for all that was laid out for the house to repair [it].
12 como também aos pedreiros e aos cabouqueiros, e compravam madeira e pedras lavradas para repararem os estragos da Casa do Senhor , e custeavam todo o necessário para a conservação da Casa do Senhor .
13 But of that money that was brought into the house of the LORD, they did not make bowls of silver nor snuffers nor basins nor trumpets nor any vessels of gold or vessels of silver for house of the LORD
13 Mas, do dinheiro que se trazia à Casa do Senhor , não se faziam nem taças de prata, nem espevitadeiras, nem bacias, nem trombetas, nem vaso algum de ouro ou de prata para a Casa do Senhor .
14 because they gave it to the workmen and repaired the house of the LORD with it.
14 Porque o davam aos que dirigiam a obra e reparavam com ele a Casa do Senhor .
15 Moreover they did not require accounts from the men into whose hands they delivered the money to be bestowed on workmen, for they dealt faithfully.
15 Também não pediam contas aos homens em cujas mãos entregavam aquele dinheiro, para o dar aos que faziam a obra, porque procediam com fidelidade.
16 The guilt money and sin money was not brought into the house of the LORD, for it was the priests'.
16 Mas o dinheiro de oferta pela culpa e o dinheiro de oferta pelos pecados não se traziam à Casa do Senhor ; eram para os sacerdotes.
17 Then Hazael, king of Syria, went up, and fought against Gath and took it; and Hazael set his face to go up against Jerusalem.
17 Então, subiu Hazael, rei da Síria, e pelejou contra Gate, e a tomou; depois, Hazael resolveu marchar contra Jerusalém.
18 And Jehoash, king of Judah, took all the holy things that Jehoshaphat and Jehoram and Ahaziah, his fathers, kings of Judah, had dedicated and his own holy things and all the gold [that was] found in the treasury of the house of the LORD and in the king's house and sent [it] to Hazael, king of Syria; and he went away from Jerusalem.
18 Porém Joás, rei de Judá, tomou todas as coisas santas que Josafá, Jeorão e Acazias, seus pais, reis de Judá, haviam dedicado, como também todo o ouro que se achava nos tesouros da Casa do Senhor e na casa do rei e os mandou a Hazael, rei da Síria; e este se retirou de Jerusalém.
19 And the rest of the acts of Joash and all that he did, [are] they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?
19 Quanto aos mais atos de Joás e a tudo o que fez, porventura, não estão escritos no Livro da História dos Reis de Judá?
20 And his servants arose and made a conspiracy and slew Joash in the house of Millo, as he was going down to Silla.
20 Levantaram-se os seus servos, conspiraram e feriram Joás na casa de Milo, que está na descida para Sila.
21 For Jozachar, the son of Shimeath, and Jehozabad, the son of Shomer, his servants, smote him, and he died; and they buried him with his fathers in the city of David; and Amaziah, his son, reigned in his stead.:
21 Porque Jozacar, filho de Simeate, e Jozabade, filho de Somer, seus servos, o feriram, e morreu; e o sepultaram com seus pais na Cidade de Davi. E Amazias, seu filho, reinou em seu lugar.
