1 And Solomon determined to build a house for the name of the LORD and a house for his kingdom.
1 Salomão resolveu construir um templo em honra ao nome do S enhor , e um palácio para si próprio.
2 And Solomon counted seventy thousand men to bear burdens and eighty thousand to hew in the mountain, and three thousand six hundred to oversee them.
2 Convocou 70.000 carregadores, 80.000 homens para cortarem pedras na região montanhosa e 3.600 chefes para supervisionarem as obras.
3 And Solomon sent to Hiram, the king of Tyre, saying, As thou didst deal with David, my father, sending him cedars to build himself a house to dwell in, [even so deal with me].
3 Salomão enviou a seguinte mensagem a Hirão, rei de Tiro: “Peço que me forneça madeira de cedro, como fez com meu pai, Davi, quando ele construiu seu palácio.
4 Behold, I must build a house unto the name of the LORD my God, to dedicate [it] to him [and] to burn aromatic incense before him and for the continual showbread and for the burnt offerings morning and evening on the sabbaths and on the new moons and on the solemn feasts of the LORD our God, which is to be perpetual in Israel.
4 Estou para construir um templo em honra ao nome do S enhor , meu Deus. Será um lugar consagrado para queimar incenso aromático diante dele, para apresentar os pães da presença e para oferecer holocaustos todas as manhãs e todas as tardes, nos sábados, nas luas novas e nas festas fixas estabelecidas pelo S enhor , nosso Deus. Ele ordenou que Israel fizesse isso para sempre.
5 And the house which I must build [is] great, for great [is] our God above all gods.
5 “O templo que vou construir será imponente, pois nosso Deus é maior que todos os outros deuses.
6 But who is so powerful as to build him a house, seeing the heavens and heavens of the heavens cannot contain him? Who [am] I then that I should build him a house, except to burn incense before him?
6 Contudo, quem poderia construir uma casa digna dele? Nem mesmo os mais altos céus seriam capazes de contê-lo! E quem sou eu para pensar em construir um templo para ele, a não ser como lugar para queimar sacrifícios diante dele?
7 Send me now, therefore, a wise man who knows how to work in gold and in silver and in brass and in iron and in purple and crimson and blue and that knows how to engrave figures with the craftsmen that [are] with me in Judah and in Jerusalem, whom David, my father, provided.
7 “Portanto, envie-me um mestre artífice competente, que saiba trabalhar com ouro, prata, bronze, ferro, com tecido púrpura, vermelho e azul, que seja habilidoso para fazer entalhes e que trabalhe com os artífices de Judá e Jerusalém que meu pai, Davi, escolheu.
8 Send me also cedar trees, fir trees, and pine trees, out of Lebanon, for I know that thy servants are skillful at cutting timber in Lebanon, and, behold, my servants [shall] be with thy servants
8 “Mande-me, também, madeira de cedro, cipreste e sândalo do Líbano, pois sei que ninguém no Líbano corta madeira como seus servos. Enviarei meus servos para ajudá-los.
9 to prepare me timber in abundance, for the house which I am about to build [shall be] great and wonderful.
9 Será necessária muita madeira, pois o templo que vou construir será grande e imponente.
10 And, behold, I will give to thy servants, the hewers that cut timber, twenty thousand measures of beaten wheat and twenty thousand measures of barley and twenty thousand baths of wine and twenty thousand baths of oil.
10 Como pagamento a seus cortadores de madeira, enviarei vinte mil cestos grandes de trigo batido, vinte mil cestos grandes de cevada, vinte mil tonéis de vinho e vinte mil tonéis de azeite”.
11 Then Hiram, the king of Tyre, answered in writing, which he sent to Solomon, Because the LORD has loved his people, he has placed thee as king over them.
11 Hirão, rei de Tiro, enviou esta resposta a Salomão: “O S
12 Hiram said, moreover, Blessed [be] the LORD God of Israel, that made the heavens and the earth, who has given to King David a wise son with knowledge, good sense and understanding, that he might build a house for the LORD and a house for his kingdom.
12 Louvado seja o S enhor , o Deus de Israel, que criou os céus e a terra! Ele deu ao rei Davi um filho sábio, que tem inteligência e entendimento, e que construirá um templo para o S enhor e um palácio para si próprio.
13 And now I have sent a wise man, with knowledge and understanding, of Hiram my father,
13 “Envio-lhe Hurão-Abi, mestre artífice muito talentoso.
14 the son of a woman of the daughters of Dan, and his father [was] a man of Tyre, skillful to work in gold and in silver, in brass, in iron, in stone, and in timber, in purple, in blue, in fine linen, and in crimson; also to engrave any manner of figure and to invent any design which shall be put to him, with thy craftsmen and with the craftsmen of my lord David, thy father.
14 Sua mãe é da tribo de Dã, em Israel, e seu pai é de Tiro. Ele tem habilidade para trabalhar com ouro, prata, bronze e ferro, e também com pedra, madeira, tecido púrpura, vermelho e azul e linho fino. É habilidoso para fazer entalhes e capaz de executar qualquer projeto que você lhe der. Ele trabalhará com seus artífices e com os homens indicados por meu senhor Davi, seu pai.
15 Now, therefore, let my lord send unto his servants the wheat and the barley the oil and the wine, which he has spoken of;
15 “Agora, envie o trigo, a cevada, o azeite e o vinho, conforme meu senhor mencionou.
16 and we will cut wood out of Lebanon, as much as thou shalt need, and we will bring it to thee in rafts by sea to Joppa, and thou shalt cause it to be carried up to Jerusalem.
16 Cortaremos toda a madeira necessária das montanhas do Líbano, colocaremos as toras em balsas e as faremos flutuar ao longo da costa do mar Mediterrâneo até Jope. Dali você as transportará até Jerusalém”.
17 And Solomon numbered all the strangers that [were] in the land of Israel, after David, his father, had already numbered them; and one hundred and fifty-three thousand six hundred were found.
17 Salomão fez um censo de todos os estrangeiros na terra de Israel, como o censo que seu pai, Davi, havia feito, e descobriu que eram 153.600.
18 And he set seventy thousand of them [to be] bearers of burdens and eighty thousand [to be] hewers in the mountain, and three thousand six hundred overseers to make the people work.:
18 Designou 70.000 deles como carregadores, 80.000 como cortadores de pedra na região montanhosa e 3.600 como chefes para supervisionar a obra.
