1 Now Jehoshaphat slept with his fathers and was buried with his fathers in the city of David. And Jehoram, his son, reigned in his stead.
1 Ora, Josafá dormiu com os seus pais, e foi sepultado com os seus pais na cidade de Davi. E Jeorão, o seu filho, reinou no seu lugar.
2 And he had brethren, sons of Jehoshaphat, Azariah, Jehiel, Zechariah, Azariah, Michael, and Shephatiah; all these [were] the sons of Jehoshaphat, king of Israel.
2 E tinha irmãos, os filhos de Josafá: Azarias, e Jeiel, e Zacarias, e Azariau, e Micael, e Sefatias; todos estes eram os filhos de Josafá, rei de Israel.
3 And their father had given them great gifts of silver and of gold and of precious things, with fenced cities in Judah, but he gave the kingdom to Jehoram because he [was] the firstborn.
3 E o seu pai deu-lhes grandes presentes de prata, e de ouro, e de coisas preciosas, assim como cidades fortificadas em Judá; mas o reino ele deu a Jeorão; porque ele era o seu primogênito.
4 Now Jehoram rose up against the kingdom of his father, and he strengthened himself and slew all his brethren with the sword and likewise [some] of the princes of Israel.
4 Tendo Jeorão se levantado sobre o reino de seu pai e tendo-se fortificado, matou todos os seus irmãos com a espada, e também diversos príncipes de Israel.
5 Jehoram [was] thirty-two years old when he began to reign, and he reigned eight years in Jerusalem.
5 Jeorão tinha trinta e dois anos quando começou a reinar, e reinou oito anos em Jerusalém.
6 And he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, like as did the house of Ahab, for he had the daughter of Ahab to wife; and he wrought [that which was] evil in the eyes of the LORD.
6 E ele andou no caminho dos reis de Israel, como fez a casa de Acabe; porque teve a filha de Acabe por esposa; e fez aquilo que era mau aos olhos do SENHOR.
7 However, the LORD would not destroy the house of David because of the covenant that he had made with David and as he promised to give a light to him and to his sons for ever.
7 Todavia, o SENHOR não quis destruir a casa de Davi, por causa do pacto que ele tinha feito com Davi, e porque prometeu dar uma lâmpada para ele e para os seus filhos para sempre.
8 In his days Edom rebelled from under the dominion of Judah and made themselves a king.
8 Nos seus dias os edomitas se revoltaram por estar debaixo do domínio de Judá, e fizeram para si um rei.
9 Then Jehoram went forth with his princes and all his chariots with him, and he rose up by night and smote Edom who had compassed him in and all the captains of the chariots.
9 Então, Jeorão saiu com os seus príncipes, e com ele todas as suas carruagens; e ele levantou-se à noite, e feriu os edomitas que o cercavam, e os capitães das suas carruagens.
10 With all this Edom [remained in] rebellion, out from under the hand of Judah unto this day. Libnah also rebelled at the same time to not be under his hand because he had forsaken the LORD God of his fathers.
10 Assim, os edomitas se revoltaram por estar sob a mão de Judá até este dia. Ao mesmo tempo também Libna se revoltou por estar sob a sua mão; porque ele havia abandonado o SENHOR Deus dos seus pais.
11 Moreover he made high places in the mountains of Judah and caused the inhabitants of Jerusalem to commit fornication and compelled Judah [unto this].
11 Além disso, ele fez lugares altos nos montes de Judá, e fez com que os habitantes de Jerusalém cometessem fornicação, e compeliu Judá a isto.
12 And a writing came to him from Elijah, the prophet, that said this: Thus hath LORD, the God of David, thy father, said, Because thou hast not walked in the ways of Jehoshaphat thy father nor in the ways of Asa, king of Judah,
12 E lhe chegou um escrito de Elias, o profeta, dizendo: Assim diz o SENHOR Deus de Davi, o teu pai: Porque não andastes nos caminhos de Josafá, o teu pai, nem nos caminhos de Asa, rei de Judá,
13 but hast walked in the way of the kings of Israel and hast made Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem fornicate, like unto the fornication of the house of Ahab, and also hast slain thy brethren of thy father's house, [who were] better than thyself,
13 mas andastes no caminho dos reis de Israel, e fizestes Judá e os habitantes de Jerusalém se prostituir, à semelhança das prostituições da casa de Acabe, e também mataste os teus irmãos, da casa do teu pai, os quais eram melhores do que tu;
14 behold, the LORD shall smite thy people with a great plague, and thy sons and thy wives and all thy goods;
14 eis que, com uma grande praga o SENHOR ferirá o teu povo, e os teus filhos, e as tuas esposas, e todos os teus bens;
15 and thou [shalt have] great sickness, with disease of thy bowels, until thy bowels fall out by reason of the sickness day by day.
15 e tu terás uma grande enfermidade por um mal nas tuas entranhas, dia após dia, até que em razão da enfermidade, te saiam as tuas entranhas.
16 Then the LORD stirred up against Jehoram the spirit of the Philistines and of the Arabians, that [were] near the Ethiopians;
16 Além disso, o SENHOR suscitou contra Jeorão o espírito dos filisteus, e dos árabes, que estavam próximos aos etíopes;
17 and they came up against Judah and invaded the land and carried away all the substance that was found in the king's house, and his sons also and his wives so that none of his sons remained except Jehoahaz, the youngest of his sons.
17 e eles subiram até Judá, e irromperam e levaram consigo todos os bens que se achou na casa do rei, e também os seus filhos, e as suas esposas; de modo que não lhe restou mais nenhum filho, exceto Jeoacaz, o mais moço dos seus filhos.
18 And after all this the LORD smote him in his bowels with an incurable disease.
18 E depois de tudo isso, o SENHOR o feriu nas suas entranhas com uma enfermidade incurável.
19 And it came to pass, that in process of time, after the end of two years, his bowels fell out by reason of his sickness; so he died of sore diseases. And his people made no burning for him, like they had done for his fathers.
19 E sucedeu que, no processo do tempo, ao fim de dois anos, saíram-lhe as entranhas por causa da doença; assim ele morreu dessa grave enfermidade. E o seu povo não lhe queimou como queimara a seus pais.
20 He was thirty-two years old when he began to reign, and he reigned in Jerusalem eight years and departed without being desired. And they buried him in the city of David, but not in the sepulchres of the kings.:
20 Trinta e dois anos de idade ele tinha quando começou a reinar; e reinou em Jerusalém por oito anos, e partiu sem ser lembrado. Todavia, eles o sepultaram na cidade de Davi, mas não nos sepulcros dos reis.
