1 O LORD, Thou God to whom vengeance belongeth, Thou God to whom vengeance belongeth, shine forth.
1 Senhor, Deus justiceiro, Deus das vinganças, aparecei em vosso esplendor.
2 Lift up Thyself, Thou Judge of the earth; render to the proud their recompense.
2 Levantai-vos, juiz da terra, castigai os soberbos como eles merecem.
3 LORD, how long shall the wicked, how long shall the wicked exult?
3 Até quando, Senhor, triunfarão os ímpios?
4 They gush out, they speak arrogancy; all the workers of iniquity bear themselves loftily.
4 Até quando se desmandarão em discursos arrogantes, e jactanciosos estarão esses obreiros do mal?
5 They crush Thy people, O LORD, and afflict Thy heritage.
5 Eles esmagam o povo, Senhor, e oprimem vossa herança.
6 They slay the widow and the stranger, and murder the fatherless.
6 Trucidam a viúva e o estrangeiro, tiram a vida aos órfãos.
7 And they say: 'The LORD will not see, neither will the God of Jacob give heed.'
7 E dizem: O Senhor não vê, o Deus de Jacó não presta atenção nisso!
8 Consider, ye brutish among the people; and ye fools, when will ye understand?
8 Tratai de compreender, ó gente estulta. Insensatos, quando cobrareis juízo?
9 He that planted the ear, shall He not hear? He that formed the eye, shall He not see?
9 Pois não ouvirá quem fez o ouvido? O que formou o olho não verá?
10 He that instructeth nations, shall not He correct? even He that teacheth man knowledge?
10 Aquele que dá lições aos povos não há de punir, ele que ensina ao homem o saber...
11 The LORD knoweth the thoughts of man, that they are vanity.
11 O Senhor conhece os pensamentos dos homens, e sabe que são vãos.
12 Happy is the man whom Thou instructest, O LORD, and teachest out of Thy law;
12 Feliz o homem a quem ensinais, Senhor, e instruís em vossa lei,
13 That Thou mayest give him rest from the days of evil, until the pit be digged for the wicked.
13 para lhe dar a paz no dia do infortúnio, enquanto uma cova se abre para o ímpio,
14 For the LORD will not cast off His people, neither will He forsake His inheritance.
14 porque o Senhor não rejeitará o seu povo, e não há de abandonar a sua herança.
15 For right shall return unto justice, and all the upright in heart shall follow it.
15 Mas o julgamento com justiça se fará, e a seguirão os retos de coração.
16 Who will rise up for me against the evil-doers? Who will stand up for me against the workers of iniquity?
16 Quem se erguerá por mim contra os malfeitores? Quem será meu defensor contra os artesãos do mal?
17 Unless the LORD had been my help, my soul had soon dwelt in silence.
17 Se o Senhor não me socorresse, em breve a minha alma habitaria a região do silêncio.
18 If I say: 'My foot slippeth', Thy mercy, O LORD, holdeth me up.
18 Quando penso: Vacilam-me os pés, sustenta-me, Senhor, a vossa graça.
19 When my cares are many within me, Thy comforts delight my soul.
19 Quando em meu coração se multiplicam as angústias, vossas consolações alegram a minha alma.
20 Shall the seat of wickedness have fellowship with Thee, which frameth mischief by statute?
20 Acaso poderá aliar-se a vós um tribunal iníquo, que pratica vexames sob a aparência de lei?
21 They gather themselves together against the soul of the righteous, and condemn innocent blood.
21 Atentam contra a alma do justo, e condenam o sangue inocente.
22 But the LORD hath been my high tower, and my God the rock of my refuge.
22 Mas o Senhor certamente será o meu refúgio, e meu Deus o rochedo em que me abrigo.
23 And He hath brought upon them their own iniquity, and will cut them off in their own evil; the LORD our God will cut them off.
23 Ele fará recair sobre eles suas próprias maldades, ele os fará perecer por sua própria malícia. O Senhor, nosso Deus, os destruirá.
