1 For the Leader. A Psalm of David. O LORD, Thou hast searched me, and known me.
1 Senhor , tu me sondas e me conheces.
2 Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, Thou understandest my thought afar off.
2 Sabes quando me sento e quando me levanto; de longe conheces os meus pensamentos.
3 Thou measurest my going about and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways.
3 Observas o meu andar e o meu deitar e conheces todos os meus caminhos.
4 For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O LORD, Thou knowest it altogether.
4 A palavra ainda nem chegou à minha língua, e tu,
5 Thou hast hemmed me in behind and before, and laid Thy hand upon me.
5 Tu me cercas por todos os lados e pões a tua mão sobre mim.
6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; too high, I cannot attain unto it.
6 Tal conhecimento é maravilhoso demais para mim: é tão elevado, que não o posso atingir.
7 Whither shall I go from Thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from Thy presence?
7 Para onde me ausentarei do teu Espírito? Para onde fugirei da tua face?
8 If I ascend up into heaven, Thou art there; if I make my bed in the nether-world, behold, Thou art there.
8 Se subo aos céus, lá estás; se faço a minha cama no mais profundo abismo, lá estás também;
9 If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea;
9 se tomo as asas da alvorada e me detenho nos confins dos mares,
10 Even there would Thy hand lead me, and Thy right hand would hold me.
10 ainda ali a tua mão me guiará, e a tua mão direita me susterá.
11 And if I say: 'Surely the darkness shall envelop me, and the light about me shall be night';
11 Se eu digo: “As trevas, com certeza, me encobrirão, e a luz ao redor de mim se fará noite”,
12 Even the darkness is not too dark for Thee, but the night shineth as the day; the darkness is even as the light.
12 até as próprias trevas não te serão escuras, e a noite é tão clara como o dia. Para ti, as trevas e a luz são a mesma coisa.
13 For Thou hast made my reins; Thou hast knit me together in my mother's womb.
13 Pois tu formaste o meu interior, tu me teceste no ventre de minha mãe.
14 I will give thanks unto Thee, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; wonderful are Thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.
14 Graças te dou, visto que de modo assombrosamente maravilhoso me formaste; as tuas obras são admiráveis, e a minha alma o sabe muito bem.
15 My frame was not hidden from Thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.
15 Os meus ossos não te foram encobertos, quando no oculto fui formado e entretecido como nas profundezas da terra.
16 Thine eyes did see mine unformed substance, and in Thy book they were all written--even the days that were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.
16 Os teus olhos viram a minha substância ainda informe, e no teu livro foram escritos todos os meus dias, cada um deles escrito e determinado, quando nem um deles ainda existia.
17 How weighty also are Thy thoughts unto me, O God! How great is the sum of them!
17 Que preciosos para mim, ó Deus, são os teus pensamentos! E como é grande a soma deles!
18 If I would count them, they are more in number than the sand; were I to come to the end of them, I would still be with Thee.
18 Se os contasse, seriam mais do que os grãos de areia; quando acordo, ainda estou contigo.
19 If Thou but wouldest slay the wicked, O God--depart from me therefore, ye men of blood;
19 Como eu gostaria, ó Deus, que acabasses com os perversos; afastem-se, pois, de mim, homens violentos.
20 Who utter Thy name with wicked thought, they take it for falsehood, even Thine enemies--
20 Eles se rebelam contra ti e como teus inimigos falam coisas ruins.
21 Do not I hate them, O LORD, that hate Thee? And do not I strive with those that rise up against Thee?
21 Acaso não odeio os que te odeiam, E não desprezo os que se levantam contra ti?
22 I hate them with utmost hatred; I count them mine enemies.
22 Eu os detesto com ódio completo; para mim são inimigos de fato.
23 Search me, O God, and know my heart, try me, and know my thoughts;
23 Sonda-me, ó Deus, e conhece o meu coração, prova-me e conhece os meus pensamentos;
24 And see if there be any way in me that is grievous, and lead me in the way everlasting.
24 vê se há em mim algum caminho mau e guia-me pelo caminho eterno.
