1 By the rivers of Babylon, there we sat down, yea, we wept, when we remembered Zion.
1 Junto aos rios de Babilônia, ali nos assentamos, sim, nós choramos, quando nos lembramos de Sião.
2 Upon the willows in the midst thereof we hanged up our harps.
2 Pendurávamos nossas harpas sobre os salgueiros no seu meio.
3 For there they that led us captive asked of us words of song, and our tormentors asked of us mirth: 'Sing us one of the songs of Zion.'
3 Pois lá aqueles que nos levaram cativos nos requeriam uma canção; e aqueles que nos consumiam nos requeriam alegria dizendo: Cantai-nos uma das canções de Sião.
4 How shall we sing the LORD'S song in a foreign land?
4 Como cantaremos a canção do SENHOR em uma terra estranha?
5 If I forget thee, O Jerusalem, let my right hand forget her cunning.
5 Se eu te esquecer, ó Jerusalém, deixa minha mão direita esquecer sua destreza.
6 Let my tongue cleave to the roof of my mouth, if I remember thee not; if I set not Jerusalem above my chiefest joy.
6 Se eu não me lembrar de ti, apegue-se a minha língua no céu da minha boca; se eu não preferir Jerusalém à minha maior alegria.
7 Remember, O LORD, against the children of Edom the day of Jerusalem; who said: 'Rase it, rase it, even to the foundation thereof.'
7 Lembra-te, ó SENHOR, dos filhos de Edom no dia de Jerusalém, que diziam: Arrasai-a, arrasai-a até o seu fundamento.
8 O daughter of Babylon, that art to be destroyed; happy shall he be, that repayeth thee as thou hast served us.
8 Ó filha de Babilônia, que vais ser destruída; seja feliz aquele que te recompensar como tu nos serviste.
9 Happy shall he be, that taketh and dasheth thy little ones against the rock.
9 Feliz será aquele que pegar e arrebentar com os teus pequenos contra as pedras.
