1 Now Pashhur the son of Immer the priest, who was chief officer in the house of the LORD, heard Jeremiah prophesying these things.
1 Pasur, filho de Imer, era sacerdote e chefe dos serviços do Templo. Ele me ouviu dizer essas coisas
2 Then Pashhur smote Jeremiah the prophet, and put him in the stocks that were in the upper gate of Benjamin, which was in the house of the LORD.
2 e por isso mandou que eu fosse surrado e preso com correntes no Portão de Benjamim, o portão de cima que dá para o Templo.
3 And it came to pass on the morrow, that Pashhur brought forth Jeremiah out of the stocks. Then said Jeremiah unto him: 'The LORD hath not called thy name Pashhur, but Magormissabib.
3 Na manhã seguinte, depois que Pasur me soltou das correntes, eu disse: — O
4 For thus saith the LORD: Behold, I will make thee a terror to thyself, and to all thy friends; and they shall fall by the sword of their enemies, and thine eyes shall behold it; and I will give all Judah into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall carry them captive to Babylon, and shall slay them with the sword.
4 O Senhor mesmo disse: “Pasur, eu farei com que você seja um terror para você mesmo e para todos os seus amigos. Todos eles serão mortos pelas espadas dos inimigos deles, e você vai ver isso. Todo o povo de Judá será dominado pelo rei da Babilônia. Ele vai levar alguns para a Babilônia como prisioneiros e mandará matar outros.
5 Moreover I will give all the store of this city, and all the gains thereof, and all the wealth thereof, yea, all the treasures of the kings of Judah will I give into the hand of their enemies, who shall spoil them, and take them, and carry them to Babylon.
5 Deixarei que os inimigos levem embora toda a riqueza desta cidade. Eles pegarão todas as coisas de valor e os tesouros dos reis de Judá e carregarão tudo para a Babilônia.
6 And thou, Pashhur, and all that dwell in thy house shall go into captivity; and thou shalt come to Babylon, and there thou shalt die, and there shalt thou be buried, thou, and all thy friends, to whom thou hast prophesied falsely.'
6 E você, Pasur, com toda a sua família, será preso e também será levado para lá. Ali você morrerá e será sepultado junto com todos os seus amigos, a quem você anunciou tantas mentiras.”
7 O LORD, Thou hast enticed me, and I was enticed, Thou hast overcome me, and hast prevailed; I am become a laughing-stock all the day, every one mocketh me.
7 Ó Senhor Deus, tu me enganaste, e eu fiquei enganado. Tu és mais forte do que eu e me dominaste. Todos zombam de mim, caçoando o dia inteiro.
8 For as often as I speak, I cry out, I cry: 'Violence and spoil'; because the word of the LORD is made a reproach unto me, and a derision, all the day.
8 Cada vez que falo, tenho de gritar e anunciar: “Violência! Destruição!” Ó e zombam de mim o tempo todo porque anuncio a tua mensagem.
9 And if I say: 'I will not make mention of Him, nor speak any more in His name', then there is in my heart as it were a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I weary myself to hold it in, but cannot.
9 Mas, quando penso: “Vou esquecer o e não falarei mais em seu nome”, então a tua mensagem fica presa dentro de mim e queima como fogo no meu coração. Estou cansado de guardá-la e não posso mais aguentar.
10 For I have heard the whispering of many, terror on every side: 'Denounce, and we will denounce him'; even of all my familiar friends, them that watch for my halting: 'Peradventure he will be enticed, and we shall prevail against him, and we shall take our revenge on him.'
10 Ouço as multidões cochichando: “Há terror-por-todos-os-lados.” E dizem: “Acusem Jeremias! Vamos denunciá-lo!” Até os meus amigos íntimos esperam que eu tropece. Eles dizem: “Talvez ele caia numa armadilha; então nós o pegaremos e nos vingaremos.”
11 But the LORD is with me as a mighty warrior; therefore my persecutors shall stumble, and they shall not prevail; they shall be greatly ashamed, because they have not prospered, even with an everlasting confusion which shall never be forgotten.
11 Mas tu, ó Senhor , estás comigo e és forte e poderoso. Os que me perseguem tropeçarão e nunca vencerão. Eles ficarão muito envergonhados por causa do seu fracasso. A desgraça deles não acabará e nunca será esquecida.
12 But, O LORD of hosts, that triest the righteous, that seest the reins and the heart, let me see Thy vengeance on them; for unto Thee have I revealed my cause.
12 Assim, ó Senhor Todo-Poderoso, com justiça tu nos pões à prova, pois sabes o que está na nossa mente e no nosso coração. Deixa que eu veja a tua vingança contra os meus inimigos, pois coloquei a minha causa nas tuas mãos.
13 Sing unto the LORD, praise ye the LORD; for He hath delivered the soul of the needy from the hand of evil-doers.
13 Cantem ao Senhor Deus, louvem o porque ele livra os pobres do poder dos maus.
14 Cursed be the day wherein I was born; the day wherein my mother bore me, let it not be blessed.
14 Maldito seja o dia em que eu nasci! Esqueçam o dia em que a minha mãe me deu à luz!
15 Cursed be the man who brought tidings to my father, saying: 'A man-child is born unto thee'; making him very glad.
15 Maldito seja o homem que alegrou o meu pai quando lhe deu esta notícia: “É menino! Você tem um filho!”
16 And let that man be as the cities which the LORD overthrew, and repented not; and let him hear a cry in the morning, and an alarm at noontide;
16 Que esse homem seja como as cidades que o Que ele ouça gemidos de dor pela manhã e gritos de batalha ao meio-dia,
17 Because He slew me not from the womb; and so my mother would have been my grave, and her womb always great.
17 porque não me matou antes de eu nascer! Pois assim a barriga da minha mãe teria sido a minha sepultura, e eu nunca teria nascido.
18 Wherefore came I forth out of the womb to see labour and sorrow, that my days should be consumed in shame?
18 Por que nasci? Será que foi só para ter tristeza e dor e acabar a minha vida na desgraça?
