1 Now Pashhur the son of Immer the priest, who was chief officer in the house of the LORD, heard Jeremiah prophesying these things.
1 Então, Pasur, o filho de Imer, o sacerdote, que era também principal governador na casa do SENHOR, ouviu que Jeremias profetizou estas coisas.
2 Then Pashhur smote Jeremiah the prophet, and put him in the stocks that were in the upper gate of Benjamin, which was in the house of the LORD.
2 Então Pasur feriu Jeremias, o profeta, e o colocou nos troncos que estavam no portão superior de Benjamim, que ficava próximo a casa do SENHOR.
3 And it came to pass on the morrow, that Pashhur brought forth Jeremiah out of the stocks. Then said Jeremiah unto him: 'The LORD hath not called thy name Pashhur, but Magormissabib.
3 E aconteceu no dia seguinte, que Pasur tirou Jeremias dos troncos. Então disse-lhe Jeremias: O SENHOR não chamou teu nome Pasur, mas Magor-Missabibe.
4 For thus saith the LORD: Behold, I will make thee a terror to thyself, and to all thy friends; and they shall fall by the sword of their enemies, and thine eyes shall behold it; and I will give all Judah into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall carry them captive to Babylon, and shall slay them with the sword.
4 Pois assim diz o SENHOR: Eis que eu farei de ti um terror para ti mesmo, e para todos os teus amigos. E eles cairão pela espada dos seus inimigos, e teus olhos contemplarão. E eu darei todo Judá na mão do rei de Babilônia, e ele os transportará cativos para a Babilônia, e os matará com a espada.
5 Moreover I will give all the store of this city, and all the gains thereof, and all the wealth thereof, yea, all the treasures of the kings of Judah will I give into the hand of their enemies, who shall spoil them, and take them, and carry them to Babylon.
5 Além disso entregarei toda a força desta cidade, e todas as suas obras, e todas as suas coisas preciosas, e todos os tesouros dos reis de Judá nas mãos dos teus inimigos, os quais o despojarão, e os tomarão, e os transportarão para Babilônia.
6 And thou, Pashhur, and all that dwell in thy house shall go into captivity; and thou shalt come to Babylon, and there thou shalt die, and there shalt thou be buried, thou, and all thy friends, to whom thou hast prophesied falsely.'
6 E tu, Pasur, e todo aquele que habitar em tua casa, será levado ao cativeiro. E tu chegarás a Babilônia, e lá tu morrerás, e lá serás enterrado, tu, e todos os teus amigos, a quem tu profetizaste mentiras.
7 O LORD, Thou hast enticed me, and I was enticed, Thou hast overcome me, and hast prevailed; I am become a laughing-stock all the day, every one mocketh me.
7 Ó SENHOR, tu me iludiste e fui enganado. Tu és mais forte do que eu, e prevaleceste; diariamente sirvo de escárnio, todos zombam de mim.
8 For as often as I speak, I cry out, I cry: 'Violence and spoil'; because the word of the LORD is made a reproach unto me, and a derision, all the day.
8 Porque desde que eu falei, clamei, e gritei: violência e saque; porque a palavra do SENHOR tornou-se uma desonra para mim, e um escárnio, diariamente.
9 And if I say: 'I will not make mention of Him, nor speak any more in His name', then there is in my heart as it were a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I weary myself to hold it in, but cannot.
9 Então, eu disse: Eu não farei menção dele, nem falarei mais em seu nome, mas a sua palavra estava em meu coração como um fogo ardente trancado em meus ossos, e eu fiquei cansado de tanto me conter, eu não posso mais.
10 For I have heard the whispering of many, terror on every side: 'Denounce, and we will denounce him'; even of all my familiar friends, them that watch for my halting: 'Peradventure he will be enticed, and we shall prevail against him, and we shall take our revenge on him.'
10 Porque eu ouvi a calúnia de muitos, medo em todo lado. Denunciai, dizem eles, e o denunciaremos; todos os meus familiares esperaram o meu manquejar, dizendo: Talvez ele seja atraído, e nós prevaleceremos contra ele, e nós nos vingaremos dele.
11 But the LORD is with me as a mighty warrior; therefore my persecutors shall stumble, and they shall not prevail; they shall be greatly ashamed, because they have not prospered, even with an everlasting confusion which shall never be forgotten.
11 Porém o SENHOR está comigo como um poderoso e terrível. Portanto meus perseguidores tropeçarão e não prevalecerão. Eles serão grandemente envergonhados, pois eles não prosperarão. A eterna confusão nunca será esquecida.
12 But, O LORD of hosts, that triest the righteous, that seest the reins and the heart, let me see Thy vengeance on them; for unto Thee have I revealed my cause.
12 Porém, Ó SENHOR dos Exércitos, que provas o justo, e vês os rins e o coração, permita-me ver a tua vingança sobre eles; pois revelei a ti a minha causa.
13 Sing unto the LORD, praise ye the LORD; for He hath delivered the soul of the needy from the hand of evil-doers.
13 Cantai ao SENHOR, louvai ao SENHOR, porque ele livrou a alma do pobre da mão dos malfeitores.
14 Cursed be the day wherein I was born; the day wherein my mother bore me, let it not be blessed.
14 Amaldiçoado seja o dia em que eu nasci. Não permita que o dia em que minha mãe me deu à luz seja abençoado.
15 Cursed be the man who brought tidings to my father, saying: 'A man-child is born unto thee'; making him very glad.
15 Amaldiçoado seja o homem que trouxe notícias ao meu pai, dizendo: Nasceu-te um filho homem, fazendo-o muito alegre.
16 And let that man be as the cities which the LORD overthrew, and repented not; and let him hear a cry in the morning, and an alarm at noontide;
16 E que aquele homem seja como as cidades que o SENHOR destruiu, e não se arrependeu. E deixai-o ouvir o clamor na manhã e as altas vozes ao meio-dia.
17 Because He slew me not from the womb; and so my mother would have been my grave, and her womb always great.
17 Por que ele não me matou desde o útero, para que minha mãe pudesse ser minha sepultura, e o seu útero estivesse sempre com a minha presença.
18 Wherefore came I forth out of the womb to see labour and sorrow, that my days should be consumed in shame?
18 Por que razão saí do útero para conhecer o duro trabalho e tristeza, para que meus dias devessem ser consumidos pela vergonha?
