1 Knowest thou the time when the wild goats of the rock bring forth? Or canst thou mark when the hinds do calve?
1 Sabes tu o tempo em que as cabras montesas dão à luz, ou consegues marcar quando as corças dão cria?
2 Canst thou number the months that they fulfil? Or knowest thou the time when they bring forth?
2 Consegues contar o número de meses que elas cumprem, ou sabes quando dão à luz?
3 They bow themselves, they bring forth their young, they cast out their fruit.
3 Elas se encurvam, dão à luz os seus filhotes, e lançam de si as suas dores.
4 Their young ones wax strong, they grow up in the open field; they go forth, and return not again.
4 Seus filhotes são saudáveis, crescem com o trigo; seguem adiante e não retornam para elas.
5 Who hath sent out the wild ass free? Or who hath loosed the bands of the wild ass?
5 Quem enviou livre o jumento selvagem? Ou quem soltou as amarras do jumento selvagem?
6 Whose house I have made the wilderness, and the salt land his dwelling-place.
6 Eu lhe dei o deserto por casa, e a terra estéril por moradia.
7 He scorneth the tumult of the city, neither heareth he the shoutings of the driver.
7 Ele despreza a multidão da cidade, nem mesmo considera o clamor do condutor.
8 The range of the mountains is his pasture, and he searcheth after every green thing.
8 A cadeia de montes é o seu pasto, e ele busca todas as coisas verdes.
9 Will the wild-ox be willing to serve thee? Or will he abide by thy crib?
9 Quererá o unicórnio te servir, ou ficar no teu estábulo?
10 Canst thou bind the wild-ox with his band in the furrow? Or will he harrow the valleys after thee?
10 Consegues amarrar o unicórnio com sua amarra no arado? Ou, irá ele escavar os vales após ti?
11 Wilt thou trust him, because his strength is great? Or wilt thou leave thy labour to him?
11 Confiarás nele, porque sua força é grande? Ou deixarás teu trabalho para ele?
12 Wilt thou rely on him, that he will bring home thy seed, and gather the corn of thy threshing-floor?
12 Confiarás nele, que ele trará para casa a tua semente, e a ajuntará em teu celeiro?
13 The wing of the ostrich beateth joyously; but are her pinions and feathers the kindly stork's?
13 Deste tu graciosas asas ao pavão? Ou asas e penas à avestruz?
14 For she leaveth her eggs on the earth, and warmeth them in dust,
14 Que deixa seus ovos na terra, e os aquece no pó,
15 And forgetteth that the foot may crush them, or that the wild beast may trample them.
15 e se esquece de que o pé os pode esmagar, ou que um animal selvagem pode quebrá-los.
16 She is hardened against her young ones, as if they were not hers; though her labour be in vain, she is without fear;
16 Ela se endurece contra seus filhotes, como se eles não fossem seus; seu trabalho é em vão sem medo;
17 Because God hath deprived her of wisdom, neither hath He imparted to her understanding.
17 porque Deus a privou de sua sabedoria, nem lhe transmitiu o seu entendimento.
18 When the time cometh, she raiseth her wings on high, and scorneth the horse and his rider.
18 Quando ela se eleva ao alto, ela zomba do cavalo e de seu cavaleiro.
19 Hast thou given the horse his strength? Hast thou clothed his neck with fierceness?
19 Deste tu força ao cavalo? Vestiste seu pescoço com trovão?
20 Hast thou made him to leap as a locust? The glory of his snorting is terrible.
20 Consegues espantá-lo como a um gafanhoto? A glória de suas narinas é terrível.
21 He paweth in the valley, and rejoiceth in his strength; he goeth out to meet the clash of arms.
21 Ele escava no vale, e se regozija em sua força; ele vai em frente para encontrar os homens armados.
22 He mocketh at fear, and is not affrighted; neither turneth he back from the sword.
22 Ele zomba do medo e não se atemoriza; nem vira as costas por causa da espada.
23 The quiver rattleth upon him, the glittering spear and the javelin.
23 A aljava ressoa contra ele, a lança cintilante e o escudo.
24 He swalloweth the ground with storm and rage; neither believeth he that it is the voice of the horn.
24 Ele engole a terra com ferocidade e fúria; nem acredita que esse é o som da trombeta.
25 As oft as he heareth the horn he saith: 'Ha, ha!' and he smelleth the battle afar off, the thunder of the captains, and the shouting.
25 E diz entre as trombetas: Ha, ha; e ele cheira a batalha de longe, o trovão dos capitães, e a gritaria.
26 Doth the hawk soar by thy wisdom, and stretch her wings toward the south?
26 Acaso o falcão voa pela tua sabedoria, e estica suas asas em direção ao sul?
27 Doth the vulture mount up at thy command, and make her nest on high?
27 Acaso a águia se remonta ao teu comando, e faz seu ninho no alto?
28 She dwelleth and abideth on the rock, upon the crag of the rock, and the stronghold.
28 Ela habita e permanece na rocha, sobre o despenhadeiro da rocha, no lugar forte.
29 From thence she spieth out the prey; her eyes behold it afar off.
29 Dali ela vê a presa e seus olhos a contemplam de longe.
30 Her young ones also suck up blood; and where the slain are, there is she.
30 Seus filhotes também chupam o sangue, e onde os mortos estão, ali ela está.
