1 Therefore, you have no excuse—every one of you who judges. For when you pass judgment on another person, you condemn yourself, since you, the judge, practice the very same things.
1 Portanto, tu és indesculpável, ó homem, qualquer um que julgas; pois no que tu julgas a outro, a ti mesmo te condenas, pois tu que julgas, fazes as mesmas coisas.
2 Now we know that God's judgment against those who practice such is based on truth.
2 Mas nós temos a certeza de que o julgamento de Deus é segundo a verdade contra os que cometem tais coisas.
3 So when you, a mere man, pass judgment on those who practice these things and then do them yourself, do you think you will escape God's judgment?
3 E tu, ó homem, que julgas os que fazem tais coisas, pensas que, fazendo-as tu, escaparás do julgamento de Deus?
4 Or do you think so little of the riches of his kindness, forbearance, and patience, not realizing that it is God's kindness that is leading you to repentance?
4 Ou desprezas tu as riquezas da sua benignidade, e paciência e longanimidade, não sabendo que a benignidade de Deus te leva ao arrependimento?
5 But because of your stubborn and unrepentant heart you are storing up wrath for yourself on the day of wrath, when God's righteous judgment will be revealed.
5 Mas, segundo a tua dureza e teu coração impenitente, entesouras para ti mesmo ira para o dia da ira e da revelação do justo julgamento de Deus;
6 For he will repay everyone according to what that person has done:
6 o qual retribuirá a cada homem segundo os seus atos;
7 eternal life to those who strive for glory, honor, and immortality by patiently doing good;
7 vida eterna aos que perseverando em fazer o bem, procuram glória, honra e imortalidade.
8 but wrath and fury for those who in their selfish pride refuse to believe the truth and practice wickedness instead.
8 Mas indignação e ira aos que são contenciosos, e não obedecem à verdade, mas obedecem à injustiça;
9 There will be suffering and anguish for every human being who practices doing evil, for Jews first and for Greeks as well.
9 tribulação e angústia sobre toda a alma do homem que faz o mal; primeiramente do judeu e também do gentio;
10 But there will be glory, honor, and peace for everyone who practices doing good, for Jews first and for Greeks as well.
10 mas glória, honra e paz a todo homem que pratica o bem; primeiramente ao judeu e também ao gentio;
11 For God does not show partiality.
11 porque não há acepção de pessoas para Deus.
12 For all who have sinned apart from the law will also perish apart from the law, and all who have sinned under the law will be judged by the law.
12 Porque todos os que pecaram sem lei, também perecerão sem lei; e todos os que pecaram na lei, serão julgados pela lei;
13 For it is not merely those who hear the law who are righteous in God's sight. No, it is those who do the law, who will be justified.
13 (porque os que ouvem a lei não são justos diante de Deus, mas os praticantes da lei serão justificados.
14 For whenever Gentiles, who do not possess the law, do instinctively what the law requires, they are a law to themselves, even though they do not have the law.
14 Porque quando os gentios, que não têm lei, fazem naturalmente as coisas contidas na lei, não tendo eles lei, são a lei para si mesmos;
15 They show that what the law requires is written in their hearts, a fact to which their own consciences testify, and their thoughts will either accuse or excuse them
15 os quais mostram a obra da lei escrita em seus corações, testificando também a sua consciência, e os seus pensamentos, ou acusando-os, ou defendendo-os),
16 on that day when God, through Jesus Christ, will judge people's secrets according to my gospel.
16 no dia em que Deus julgar por meio de Jesus Cristo os segredos dos homens, conforme o meu evangelho.
17 Now if you call yourself a Jew, and rely on the law, and boast about God,
17 Eis que tu que és chamado de judeu, e descansas na lei, e te vanglorias em Deus;
18 and know his will, and approve of what is best because you have been instructed in the law;
18 e conheces a sua vontade, e aprovas as coisas mais excelentes, sendo instruído pela lei;
19 and if you are convinced that you are a guide for the blind, a light to those in darkness,
19 e confias que tu és guia dos cegos, luz dos que estão em trevas,
20 an instructor of ignorant people, and a teacher of infants because you have the full content of knowledge and truth in the law—
20 instrutor dos insensatos, mestre de crianças, que tens a forma do conhecimento e da verdade na lei.
21 as you teach others, do you fail to teach yourself? As you preach against stealing, do you steal?
21 Tu, pois, que ensinas a outro, não te ensinas a ti mesmo? Tu, que pregas que um homem não deve furtar, tu furtas?
22 As you forbid adultery, do you commit adultery? As you abhor idols, do you rob temples?
22 Tu, que dizes que um homem não deve cometer adultério, tu cometes adultério? Tu, que abominas os ídolos, tu cometes sacrilégio?
23 As you boast about the law, do you dishonor God by breaking the law?
23 Tu, que te vanglorias na lei, por meio da infração da lei tu desonras a Deus?
24 As it is written, “God's name is being blasphemed among the Gentiles because of you.”
24 Porque o nome de Deus é blasfemado entre os gentios por causa de vós, como está escrito.
25 For circumcision is valuable if you observe the law, but if you break the law, your circumcision has become uncircumcision.
25 Porque a circuncisão é verdadeiramente proveitosa se tu guardares a lei; mas se tu és transgressor da lei, a tua circuncisão se torna em incircuncisão.
26 So if a man who is uncircumcised keeps the requirements of the law, his uncircumcision will be regarded as circumcision, won't it?
26 Portanto, se o incircunciso guardar a justiça da lei, não será sua incircuncisão julgada como circuncisão?
27 The man who is uncircumcised physically but who keeps the law will condemn you who break the law, even though you have the written law and circumcision.
27 E se a incircuncisão que é por natureza, cumpre a lei, julgar-te-á a ti, que pela letra e circuncisão és transgressor da lei?
28 For a person is not a Jew because of his appearance, nor is circumcision something external and physical.
28 Porque não é judeu o que o é exteriormente, nem é esta circuncisão, que é exteriormente na carne.
29 No, a person is a Jew inwardly, and circumcision is a matter of the heart, by the Spirit, not by a written law. That person's praise will come from God, not from people.
29 Mas é judeu o que o é no interior, e a circuncisão é a do coração, no espírito, e não na letra; cujo louvor não é de homens, mas de Deus.
