1 O Lord God the auenger, O God the auenger, shewe thy selfe clearely.
1 Ó Senhor , tu és Deus que castiga! Mostra a tua
2 Exalt thy selfe, O Iudge of the worlde, and render a reward to the proude.
2 Tu és o juiz de todas as pessoas; levanta-te e dá aos orgulhosos o que eles merecem.
3 Lord how long shall the wicked, how long shall the wicked triumph?
3 Até quando os maus continuarão alegres? Até quando, ó
4 They prate and speake fiercely: all the workers of iniquitie vaunt themselues.
4 Até quando se mostrarão orgulhosos e se gabarão dos seus crimes?
5 They smite downe thy people, O Lord, and trouble thine heritage.
5 Ó Senhor , eles esmagam o teu povo e exploram os que são teus.
6 They slay the widowe and the stranger, and murder the fatherlesse.
6 Eles matam as viúvas e os órfãos e assassinam os estrangeiros que vivem na nossa terra.
7 Yet they say, The Lord shall not see: neither will the God of Iaakob regard it.
7 E dizem: “O Senhor não está vendo; o Deus de Israel não vai ficar sabendo disso.”
8 Vnderstande ye vnwise among the people: and ye fooles, when will ye be wise?
8 Procure entender, ó gente tola! Quando é que vocês vão criar juízo?
9 Hee that planted the eare, shall hee not heare? or he that formed the eye, shall he not see?
9 Foi o Senhor Deus quem fez os nossos ouvidos — será que ele não pode ouvir? Foi o será que ele não pode ver?
10 Or he that chastiseth the nations, shall he not correct? hee that teacheth man knowledge, shall he not knowe?
10 O Senhor repreende as nações — será que ele não vai castigá-las? O será que ele não tem sabedoria?
11 The Lord knoweth the thoughtes of man, that they are vanitie.
11 O Senhor conhece os pensamentos das pessoas e sabe que eles não valem nada.
12 Blessed is the man, whom thou chastisest, O Lord, and teachest him in thy Lawe,
12 Ó Senhor Deus, felizes são aqueles que tu ensinas, aqueles a quem ensinas a tua
13 That thou mayest giue him rest from the dayes of euill, whiles the pitte is digged for the wicked.
13 Tu farás com que fiquem tranquilos nos dias de aflição, mas para os maus serão abertas sepulturas.
14 Surely the Lord will not faile his people, neither will he forsake his inheritance.
14 Pois o Senhor não abandonará o seu povo; ele não deixará desamparados aqueles que são dele.
15 For iudgement shall returne to iustice, and all the vpright in heart shall follow after it.
15 Assim haverá justiça nos tribunais, e todos os que são honestos estarão a favor dela.
16 Who will rise vp with me against the wicked? or who will take my part against the workers of iniquitie?
16 Quem se levantou a meu favor contra os maus? Quem ficou do meu lado contra os que fazem o mal?
17 If the Lord had not holpen me, my soule had almost dwelt in silence.
17 Se o Senhor não tivesse me ajudado, eu já teria ido para a
18 When I said, My foote slideth, thy mercy, O Lord, stayed me.
18 Ó Senhor Deus, quando senti que poderia morrer, o teu amor me amparou.
19 In the multitude of my thoughts in mine heart, thy comfortes haue reioyced my soule.
19 Quando estou aflito e preocupado, tu me consolas e me alegras.
20 Hath the throne of iniquitie fellowship with thee, which forgeth wrong for a Lawe?
20 Tu não queres nada com juízes desonestos, pois eles fazem a injustiça parecer justiça,
21 They gather them together against the soule of the righteous, and condemne the innocent blood.
21 ajuntam-se para prejudicar as pessoas honestas e condenam à morte os inocentes.
22 But the Lord is my refuge, and my God is the rocke of mine hope.
22 Mas o Senhor me defende; ele é a minha rocha e o meu abrigo.
23 And hee will recompence them their wickednes, and destroy them in their owne malice: yea, the Lord our God shall destroy them.
23 Ele castigará esses juízes por causa das injustiças que eles têm cometido; o por causa dos seus atos de maldade.
