1 For lo, the Lord God of hostes will take away from Ierusalem and from Iudah the stay and the strength: euen all the staye of bread, and all the stay of water,
1 Cuidado! O Senhor , o Deus Todo-Poderoso, vai tirar de Jerusalém e de Judá todo o sustento e todo o mantimento; não haverá nem comida nem água.
2 The strong man, and the man of warre, the iudge and the prophet, the prudent and the aged,
2 Ele vai tirar também todas as pessoas importantes: os homens corajosos e os soldados, os juízes e os os adivinhos e os sábios,
3 The captaine of fiftie, and the honourable, and the counseller, and the cunning artificer, and the eloquent man.
3 os oficiais do exército e as autoridades civis, os conselheiros e todos os feiticeiros.
4 And I will appoint children to bee their princes, and babes shall rule ouer them.
4 O Senhor escolherá meninos para governar o seu povo; o poder ficará nas mãos de crianças.
5 The people shalbe oppressed one of another, and euery one by his neighbour: the children shall presume against the ancient, and the vile against the honourable.
5 Todos perseguirão uns aos outros, cada um explorará o seu vizinho. Os jovens não respeitarão os velhos, e gente que não vale nada desprezará as pessoas honestas.
6 When euery one shall take holde of his brother of the house of his father, and say, Thou hast clothing: thou shalt bee our prince, and let this fall be vnder thine hand.
6 Naquele dia, uma pessoa agarrará um dos seus parentes e lhe dirá: “Você pelo menos tem roupas para vestir. Então venha ser o nosso chefe e governe este montão de ruínas!”
7 In that day hee shall sweare, saying, I cannot bee an helper: for there is no bread in mine house, nor clothing: therefore make me no prince of the people.
7 Mas o outro responderá: “Eu não posso ajudá-lo. Não tenho nem comida nem roupa na minha casa. Você não vai me fazer virar chefe do nosso povo!”
8 Doubtlesse Ierusalem is fallen, and Iudah is fallen downe, because their tongue and workes are against the Lord, to prouoke the eyes of his glory.
8 Jerusalém está arrasada, a terra de Judá está em ruínas. Pois com as suas palavras e as suas ações o povo desafia o e ofende a sua
9 The triall of their countenance testifieth against them, yea, they declare their sinnes as Sodom, they hide them not. Wo be vnto their soules: for they haue rewarded euil vnto themselues.
9 Eles não tratam os outros com igualdade, e isso prova que estão errados. Pecam abertamente como os moradores de Sodoma; não procuram esconder os seus pecados. Ai deles, pois estão trazendo sobre si mesmos o castigo da sua própria maldade!
10 Say ye, Surely it shalbe well with the iust: for they shall eate the fruite of their workes.
10 Felizes são as pessoas honestas, pois tudo dará certo para elas, e elas ficarão satisfeitas com aquilo que ganharem com o seu trabalho!
11 Woe be to the wicked, it shalbe euill with him: for the reward of his handes shalbe giuen him.
11 Ai dos maus, pois tudo correrá mal para eles! O mal que fizeram aos outros será feito contra eles.
12 Children are extortioners of my people, and women haue rule ouer them: O my people, they that leade thee, cause thee to erre, and destroy the way of thy paths.
12 Crianças governam o meu povo; o poder está nas mãos das mulheres. Meu povo, as autoridades estão enganando vocês, estão lhes mostrando o caminho errado.
13 The Lord standeth vp to pleade, yea, hee standeth to iudge the people.
13 O Senhor Deus vai apresentar a sua causa; ele está pronto para julgar o seu povo.
14 The Lord shall enter into iudgement with the Ancients of his people and the princes thereof: for ye haue eaten vp the vineyarde: the spoyle of the poore is in your houses.
14 Contra as autoridades e os líderes, ele fará esta acusação: “Foram vocês que acabaram com Israel, a minha plantação de uvas! As suas casas estão cheias das coisas que vocês roubaram dos pobres!
15 What haue ye to do, that ye beate my people to pieces, and grinde the faces of the poore, saith the Lord, euen the Lord of hoasts?
15 Com que direito vocês esmagam o meu povo e exploram os pobres?” É o quem está falando.
16 The Lord also saith, Because the daughters of Zion are hautie, and walke with stretched out neckes, and with wandering eyes, walking and minsing as they goe, and making a tinkeling with their feete,
16 O Senhor Deus disse: “Vejam como as mulheres de Jerusalém são vaidosas! Andam com o nariz para cima, dão olhares atrevidos e caminham com passos curtos, fazendo barulho com os enfeites dos tornozelos.
17 Therefore shall the Lord make the heades of the daughters of Zion balde, and the Lord shall discouer their secrete partes.
17 Por isso, eu, o Senhor , vou castigá-las: raparei a sua cabeça e as deixarei carecas.”
18 In that day shall the Lord take away the ornament of the slippers, and the calles, and the round tyres,
18 Naquele dia, o Senhor tirará das mulheres de Jerusalém todos os seus enfeites: os que elas usam nos tornozelos e na cabeça, os colares,
19 The sweete balles, and the brasselets, and the bonnets,
19 os brincos e as pulseiras. Tirará os véus,
20 The tyres of the head, and the sloppes, and the head bandes, and the tablets, and the earings,
20 os chapéus e os enfeites para os braços e os cintos e faixas. Tirará os frascos de perfume, os talismãs ,
21 The rings and the mufflers,
21 os anéis e as argolas de usar no nariz;
22 The costly apparell and the vailes, and the wimples, and the crisping pinnes,
22 os vestidos luxuosos, os mantos , os xales e as bolsas;
23 And the glasses and the fine linen, and the hoodes, and the launes.
23 as saias transparentes, os lenços de linho, os turbantes e as mantilhas.
24 And in steade of sweete sauour, there shall be stinke, and in steade of a girdle, a rent, and in steade of dressing of the heare, baldnesse, and in steade of a stomacher, a girding of sackecloth, and burning in steade of beautie.
24 Em vez de andarem perfumadas, elas vão cheirar mal; em vez de cintos finos, usarão cordas grosseiras. Não farão penteados bonitos, mas ficarão carecas. Não usarão roupas finas, mas roupas feitas de pano grosseiro. A beleza delas vai virar uma feiura de dar vergonha!
25 Thy men shall fall by the sworde, and thy strength in the battell.
25 Os homens de Jerusalém serão mortos na guerra; até os mais valentes morrerão.
26 Then shall her gates mourne and lament, and she, being desolate, shall sit vpon the ground.
26 A cidade ficará de luto e chorará como se fosse uma mulher sentada no chão, completamente abandonada.
