1 And when the King Hezekiah heard it, he rent his clothes, and put on sackcloth and came into the House of the Lord.
1 Quando o rei Ezequias ouviu isto, rasgou as suas roupas, cobriu-se de pano de saco e entrou na Casa do Senhor .
2 And he sent Eliakim the stewarde of the house, aud Shebna the chanceller, with the Elders of the Priestes, clothed in sackcloth vnto Isaiah the Prophet, the sonne of Amoz.
2 Então ele mandou que Eliaquim, o responsável pelo palácio, Sebna, o escrivão, e os anciãos dos sacerdotes, todos vestidos de pano de saco, fossem falar com o profeta Isaías, filho de Amoz.
3 And they sayd vnto him, Thus saith Hezekiah, This day is a day of tribulation and of rebuke and blasphemie: for the children are come to the birth, and there is no strength to bring foorth.
3 Eles lhe disseram: — Assim diz Ezequias: “Este dia é dia de angústia, de castigo e de vergonha. Como se costuma dizer, chegou a hora de a criança nascer, mas a mãe não tem forças para dar à luz.
4 If so be the Lord thy God hath heard the wordes of Rabshakeh, whom the King of Asshur his master hath sent to raile on the liuing God, and to reproch him with wordes which the Lord thy God hath heard, then lift thou vp thy prayer for the remnant that are left.
4 É bem possível que o Senhor , seu Deus, tenha ouvido as palavras de Rabsaqué, a quem o rei da Assíria, seu senhor, enviou para afrontar o Deus vivo, e repreenda as palavras que ouviu. Portanto, ore pelo resto que ficou.”
5 So the seruants of the King Hezekiah came to Isaiah.
5 Os servos do rei Ezequias foram falar com Isaías,
6 And Isaiah sayde vnto them, Thus say vnto your master, Thus saith the Lord, Be not afrayd of the wordes that thou hast heard, wherewith the seruants of the king of Asshur haue blasphemed me.
6 que lhes disse: — Digam ao rei o seguinte: Assim diz o
7 Beholde, I wil send a blast vpon him, and he shall heare a noyse, and returne to his owne land, and I will cause him to fall by the sword in his owne land.
7 Eis que porei nele um espírito, e ele, ao ouvir certo rumor, voltará para a sua terra; e lá eu farei com que ele seja morto à espada.”
8 So Rabshakeh returned, and found the King of Asshur fighting against Libnah: for he had heard that he was departed from Lachish.
8 Rabsaqué voltou e encontrou o rei da Assíria lutando contra Libna, pois tinha ouvido que o rei já se havia retirado de Laquis.
9 He heard also men say of Tirhakah, King of Ethiopia, Beholde, he is come out to fight against thee: and when he heard it, he sent other messengers to Hezekiah, saying,
9 Quando o rei ouviu dizer que Tiraca, rei da Etiópia, havia saído para guerrear contra ele, mandou mensageiros a Ezequias, com esta missão:
10 Thus shall ye speake to Hezekiah King of Iudah, saying, Let not thy God deceiue thee, in whom thou trustest, saying, Ierusalem shall not be giuen into the hand of the King of Asshur.
10 — Digam a Ezequias, rei de Judá: “Não deixe que o seu Deus, em quem você confia, o engane, ao dizer: ‘Jerusalém não será entregue nas mãos do rei da Assíria.’
11 Beholde, thou hast heard what the Kings of Asshur haue done to all lands in destroying them, and shalt thou be deliuered?
11 Você já ouviu o que os reis da Assíria fizeram com todas as terras, como as destruíram totalmente. E você pensa que poderá escapar?
12 Haue the gods of the nations deliuered them, which my fathers haue destroyed? as Gozan, and Haran, and Rezeph, and the children of Eden, which were at Telassar?
12 Será que os deuses das nações livraram os povos que os meus pais destruíram, Gozã, Harã e Rezefe e os filhos de Éden, que estavam em Telassar?
13 Where is the King of Hamath, and the King of Arpad, and the King of the citie of Sepharuaim, Hena and Iuah?
13 Onde está o rei de Hamate, o rei de Arpade, e o rei da cidade de Sefarvaim, de Hena e de Iva?”
14 So Hezekiah receiued the letter of the hand of the messengers and read it, and he went vp into the House of the Lord, and Hezekiah spread it before the Lord.
14 Ezequias recebeu a carta das mãos dos mensageiros e a leu. Então Ezequias subiu à Casa do Senhor e estendeu a carta diante do Senhor .
15 And Hezekiah prayed vnto the Lord, saying,
15 E Ezequias orou ao Senhor , dizendo:
16 O Lord of hostes, God of Israel, which dwellest betweene the Cherubims, thou art very God alone ouer all the kingdomes of the earth: thou hast made the heauen and the earth.
16 — Ó Senhor dos Exércitos, Deus de Israel, que estás entronizado acima dos querubins, somente tu és o Deus de todos os reinos da terra; tu fizeste os céus e a terra.
17 Encline thine eare, O Lord, and heare: open thine eyes, O Lord, and see, and heare all the wordes of Saneherib, who hath sent to blaspheme the liuing God.
17 Inclina, ó Senhor , os ouvidos e ouve; abre, Senhor , os olhos e vê; ouve todas as palavras de Senaqueribe, as quais ele enviou para afrontar o Deus vivo.
18 Trueth it is, O Lord, that the Kings of Asshur haue destroyed all lands, and their countrey,
18 É verdade, Senhor , que os reis da Assíria assolaram todos os países e suas terras
19 And haue cast their gods in ye fire: for they were no gods, but the worke of mans hands, euen wood or stone: therefore they destroyed them.
19 e lançaram no fogo os deuses deles, porque não eram deuses, mas objetos de madeira e pedra, feitos por mãos humanas; por isso, os destruíram.
20 Nowe therefore, O Lord our God, saue thou vs out of his hand, that all the kingdomes of the earth may knowe, that thou onely art the Lord.
20 Agora, ó Senhor , nosso Deus, livra-nos das mãos dele, para que todos os reinos da terra saibam que só tu és o Senhor .
21 Then Isaiah the sonne of Amoz sent vnto Hezekiah, saying, Thus sayth the Lord God of Israel, Because thou hast prayed vnto me, concerning Saneherib king of Asshur,
21 Então Isaías, filho de Amoz, mandou dizer a Ezequias: — Assim diz o
22 This is the worde that the Lord hath spoken against him, the virgine, the daughter of Zion, hath despised thee, and laughed thee to scorne: the daughter of Ierusalem, hath shaken her head at thee.
22 esta é a palavra que o Senhor falou a respeito dele: “A virgem, a filha de Sião, desdenha e zomba de você; a filha de Jerusalém meneia a cabeça atrás de você.
23 Whome hast thou railed on and blasphemed? and against whome hast thou exalted thy voyce, and lifted vp thine eyes on hie? euen against the holy one of Israel.
23 A quem você afrontou e de quem blasfemou? E contra quem você levantou a voz e ergueu os olhos com arrogância? Contra o Santo de Israel.
24 By thy seruants hast thou railed on the Lord, and sayd, By the multitude of my charets I am come vp to the top of the mountaines to the sides of Lebanon, and will cut downe the hie cedars thereof, and the faire firre trees thereof, and I will goe vp to the heightes of his top and to the forest of his fruitfull places.
24 Por meio dos seus servos, você afrontou o Senhor e disse: ‘Com a multidão dos meus carros de guerra eu subi ao alto dos montes, ao mais interior do Líbano. Cortei os seus altos cedros e os seus melhores ciprestes; cheguei ao lugar mais elevado, ao seu denso bosque.
25 I haue digged and drunke the waters, and with the plant of my feete haue I dryed all the riuers closed in.
25 Eu mesmo cavei e bebi as águas e com as plantas de meus pés sequei todos os rios do Egito.’”
26 Hast thou not heard howe I haue of olde time made it, and haue formed it long ago? and should I now bring it, that it should be destroyed, and layde on ruinous heapes, as cities defensed?
26 “Por acaso, você não ouviu que há muito tempo eu, o determinei estas coisas, e que já desde os dias remotos as tinha planejado? Agora eu as faço acontecer. Eu quis que você reduzisse a montões de ruínas as cidades fortificadas.
27 Whose inhabitants haue small power, and are afrayd and confounded: they are like the grasse of the field and greene herbe, or grasse on the house tops, or corne blassed afore it be growen.
27 Por isso, os seus moradores, debilitados, andaram cheios de temor e envergonhados; tornaram-se como a erva do campo, a erva verde e o capim dos telhados queimado antes de amadurecer.”
28 But I know thy dwelling, and thy going out, and thy comming in, and thy fury against me.
28 “Mas eu sei onde você está; conheço o seu sair e o seu entrar, e o seu furor contra mim.
29 Because thou ragest against me, and thy tumult is come vnto mine eares, therefore will I put mine hooke in thy nostrels, and my bridle in thy lips, and wil bring thee backe againe the same way thou camest.
29 Por causa do seu furor contra mim e porque a sua arrogância subiu até os meus ouvidos, eis que porei o meu anzol no seu nariz e o meu freio na sua boca e farei você voltar pelo caminho por onde veio.”
30 And this shalbe a signe vnto thee, O Hezekiah, Thou shalt eate this yeere such as groweth of it selfe: and the second yeere, such things as growe without sowing: and in the third yeere, sowe ye and reape, and plant vineyards, and eate the fruite thereof.
30 — E isto será o sinal para você, rei Ezequias: neste ano, se comerá o que nascer espontaneamente e, no segundo ano, o que daí proceder. Mas no terceiro ano semeiem e colham, plantem vinhas e comam os seus frutos.
31 And the remnant that is escaped of the house of Iudah, shall againe take roote downward and beare fruite vpward.
31 Aqueles da casa de Judá que escaparam e ficaram como remanescente tornarão a lançar raízes e a dar frutos.
32 For out of Ierusalem shall goe a remnant, and they that escape out of mount Zion: the zeale of the Lord of hostes shall doe this.
32 Porque de Jerusalém sairá o remanescente, e do monte Sião, o que escapou. O zelo do Senhor dos Exércitos fará isto.
33 Therefore thus sayth the Lord, concerning the King of Asshur, He shall not enter into this citie, nor shoote an arrow there, nor come before it with shield, nor cast a mount against it.
33 — Portanto, assim diz o Senhor a respeito do rei da Assíria: “Ele não entrará nesta cidade, nem lançará nela flecha alguma. Não virá diante dela com escudo, nem construirá rampas de ataque contra ela.
34 By the same way that he came, he shall returne, and not come into this citie, saith the Lord.
34 Pelo caminho por onde vier, por esse voltará; mas nesta cidade não entrará”, diz o
35 For I will defend this citie to saue it, for mine owne sake, and for my seruant Dauids sake.
35 “Porque eu defenderei esta cidade, para a livrar, por amor de mim e por amor do meu servo Davi.”
36 Then the Angel of the Lord went out, and smote in the campe of Asshur an hundreth, fourescore, and fiue thousand: so when they arose early in the morning, beholde, they were all dead corpses.
36 Então o Anjo do Senhor saiu e matou cento e oitenta e cinco mil homens no arraial dos assírios. De manhã, quando os restantes se levantaram, lá estavam todos aqueles cadáveres.
37 So Saneherib king of Asshur departed, and went away and returned and dwelt at Nineueh.
37 Então Senaqueribe, rei da Assíria, levantou acampamento, foi embora, voltou para Nínive e por lá ficou.
38 And as he was in the temple worshipping of Nisroch his god, Adramelech and Sharezer his sonnes slewe him with the sword, and they escaped into the land of Ararat: and Esarhaddon his sonne reigned in his steade.
38 Certo dia, quando ele estava adorando no templo de seu deus Nisroque, os seus filhos Adrameleque e Sarezer o mataram à espada; depois fugiram para a terra de Ararate. E Esar-Hadom, filho de Senaqueribe, reinou em seu lugar.
