1 And when the King Hezekiah heard it, he rent his clothes, and put on sackcloth and came into the House of the Lord.
1 E aconteceu que, tendo ouvido isso o rei Ezequias, rasgou as suas vestes, e se cobriu de saco de pano grosseiro, e entrou na Casa do Senhor .
2 And he sent Eliakim the stewarde of the house, aud Shebna the chanceller, with the Elders of the Priestes, clothed in sackcloth vnto Isaiah the Prophet, the sonne of Amoz.
2 E o rei enviou a Eliaquim, o mordomo, e a Sebna, o escrivão, e aos anciãos dos sacerdotes, cobertos de sacos de pano grosseiro, a Isaías, filho de Amoz, o profeta.
3 And they sayd vnto him, Thus saith Hezekiah, This day is a day of tribulation and of rebuke and blasphemie: for the children are come to the birth, and there is no strength to bring foorth.
3 E disseram-lhe: Assim diz Ezequias: Este dia é dia de angústia, e de vitupérios, e de blasfêmias, porque chegados são os filhos ao parto, e força não há para os dar à luz.
4 If so be the Lord thy God hath heard the wordes of Rabshakeh, whom the King of Asshur his master hath sent to raile on the liuing God, and to reproch him with wordes which the Lord thy God hath heard, then lift thou vp thy prayer for the remnant that are left.
4 Porventura, o Senhor , teu Deus, terá ouvido as palavras de Rabsaqué, a quem enviou o rei da Assíria, seu amo, para afrontar o Deus vivo e para o vituperar com as palavras que o Senhor , teu Deus, tem ouvido; faze oração pelo resto que ficou.
5 So the seruants of the King Hezekiah came to Isaiah.
5 E os servos do rei Ezequias vieram a Isaías.
6 And Isaiah sayde vnto them, Thus say vnto your master, Thus saith the Lord, Be not afrayd of the wordes that thou hast heard, wherewith the seruants of the king of Asshur haue blasphemed me.
6 E Isaías lhes disse: Assim direis a vosso amo: Assim diz o Senhor : Não temas à vista das palavras que ouviste, com as quais os servos do rei da Assíria de mim blasfemaram.
7 Beholde, I wil send a blast vpon him, and he shall heare a noyse, and returne to his owne land, and I will cause him to fall by the sword in his owne land.
7 Eis que porei nele um espírito, e ele ouvirá um rumor e voltará para a sua terra; e fá-lo-ei cair morto à espada, na sua terra.
8 So Rabshakeh returned, and found the King of Asshur fighting against Libnah: for he had heard that he was departed from Lachish.
8 Voltou, pois, Rabsaqué e achou o rei da Assíria pelejando contra Libna; porque ouvira que já se havia retirado de Laquis.
9 He heard also men say of Tirhakah, King of Ethiopia, Beholde, he is come out to fight against thee: and when he heard it, he sent other messengers to Hezekiah, saying,
9 E ouviu dizer que Tiraca, rei da Etiópia, tinha saído para lhe fazer guerra. Assim que ouviu isso, enviou mensageiros a Ezequias, dizendo:
10 Thus shall ye speake to Hezekiah King of Iudah, saying, Let not thy God deceiue thee, in whom thou trustest, saying, Ierusalem shall not be giuen into the hand of the King of Asshur.
10 Assim falareis a Ezequias, rei de Judá, dizendo: Não te engane o teu Deus, em quem confias, dizendo: Jerusalém não será entregue nas mãos do rei da Assíria.
11 Beholde, thou hast heard what the Kings of Asshur haue done to all lands in destroying them, and shalt thou be deliuered?
11 Eis que já tens ouvido o que fizeram os reis da Assíria a todas as terras, destruindo-as totalmente; e escaparias tu?
12 Haue the gods of the nations deliuered them, which my fathers haue destroyed? as Gozan, and Haran, and Rezeph, and the children of Eden, which were at Telassar?
12 Porventura, as livraram os deuses das nações que meus pais destruíram: Gozã, e Harã, e Rezefe, e os filhos de Éden, que estavam em Telassar?
13 Where is the King of Hamath, and the King of Arpad, and the King of the citie of Sepharuaim, Hena and Iuah?
13 Onde está o rei de Hamate, e o rei de Arpade, e o rei das cidades de Sefarvaim, Hena e Iva?
14 So Hezekiah receiued the letter of the hand of the messengers and read it, and he went vp into the House of the Lord, and Hezekiah spread it before the Lord.
14 Recebendo, pois, Ezequias as cartas das mãos dos mensageiros e lendo-as, subiu à Casa do Senhor ; e Ezequias as estendeu perante o Senhor .
15 And Hezekiah prayed vnto the Lord, saying,
15 E orou Ezequias ao Senhor , dizendo:
16 O Lord of hostes, God of Israel, which dwellest betweene the Cherubims, thou art very God alone ouer all the kingdomes of the earth: thou hast made the heauen and the earth.
16 Ó Senhor dos Exércitos, Deus de Israel, que habitas entre os querubins; tu és o Deus, tu somente, de todos os reinos da terra; tu fizeste os céus e a terra.
17 Encline thine eare, O Lord, and heare: open thine eyes, O Lord, and see, and heare all the wordes of Saneherib, who hath sent to blaspheme the liuing God.
17 Inclina, ó Senhor , os ouvidos e ouve; abre, Senhor , os olhos e olha; e ouve todas as palavras de Senaqueribe, as quais ele mandou para afrontar o Deus vivo.
18 Trueth it is, O Lord, that the Kings of Asshur haue destroyed all lands, and their countrey,
18 Verdade é, Senhor , que os reis da Assíria assolaram todos os países e suas terras.
19 And haue cast their gods in ye fire: for they were no gods, but the worke of mans hands, euen wood or stone: therefore they destroyed them.
19 E lançaram no fogo os seus deuses; porque deuses não eram, senão obra de mãos de homens, madeira e pedra; por isso, os destruíram.
20 Nowe therefore, O Lord our God, saue thou vs out of his hand, that all the kingdomes of the earth may knowe, that thou onely art the Lord.
20 Agora, pois, ó Senhor , nosso Deus, livra-nos das suas mãos, para que todos os reinos da terra conheçam que só tu és o Senhor .
21 Then Isaiah the sonne of Amoz sent vnto Hezekiah, saying, Thus sayth the Lord God of Israel, Because thou hast prayed vnto me, concerning Saneherib king of Asshur,
21 Então, Isaías, filho de Amoz, mandou dizer a Ezequias: Assim diz o Senhor , o Deus de Israel: Quanto ao que me pediste acerca de Senaqueribe, rei da Assíria,
22 This is the worde that the Lord hath spoken against him, the virgine, the daughter of Zion, hath despised thee, and laughed thee to scorne: the daughter of Ierusalem, hath shaken her head at thee.
22 esta é a palavra que o Senhor falou a respeito dele: A virgem, a filha de Sião, te despreza e de ti zomba; a filha de Jerusalém meneia a cabeça por detrás de ti.
23 Whome hast thou railed on and blasphemed? and against whome hast thou exalted thy voyce, and lifted vp thine eyes on hie? euen against the holy one of Israel.
23 A quem afrontaste e de quem blasfemaste? E contra quem alçaste a voz e ergueste os olhos ao alto? Contra o Santo de Israel!
24 By thy seruants hast thou railed on the Lord, and sayd, By the multitude of my charets I am come vp to the top of the mountaines to the sides of Lebanon, and will cut downe the hie cedars thereof, and the faire firre trees thereof, and I will goe vp to the heightes of his top and to the forest of his fruitfull places.
24 Por meio de teus servos, afrontaste o Senhor e disseste: Com a multidão dos meus carros subi eu aos cumes dos montes, aos últimos recessos do Líbano; e cortarei os seus altos cedros e as suas faias escolhidas e entrarei no seu cume mais elevado, no bosque do seu campo fértil.
25 I haue digged and drunke the waters, and with the plant of my feete haue I dryed all the riuers closed in.
25 Eu cavei e bebi as águas; e, com a planta de meus pés, sequei todos os rios do Egito.
26 Hast thou not heard howe I haue of olde time made it, and haue formed it long ago? and should I now bring it, that it should be destroyed, and layde on ruinous heapes, as cities defensed?
26 Porventura, não ouviste que já muito antes eu fiz isso e que já desde os dias antigos o tinha pensado? Agora, porém, se cumpre, e eu quis que fosses tu que destruísses as cidades fortes e as reduzisses a montões assolados.
27 Whose inhabitants haue small power, and are afrayd and confounded: they are like the grasse of the field and greene herbe, or grasse on the house tops, or corne blassed afore it be growen.
27 Por isso, os seus moradores, com as mãos caídas, andaram atemorizados e envergonhados; eram como a erva do campo, e a erva verde, e o feno dos telhados, e o trigo queimado antes do crescimento.
28 But I know thy dwelling, and thy going out, and thy comming in, and thy fury against me.
28 Mas eu conheço o teu assentar, e o teu sair, e o teu entrar, e o teu furor contra mim.
29 Because thou ragest against me, and thy tumult is come vnto mine eares, therefore will I put mine hooke in thy nostrels, and my bridle in thy lips, and wil bring thee backe againe the same way thou camest.
29 Por causa da tua raiva contra mim e porque a tua arrogância subiu até aos meus ouvidos, eis que porei o meu anzol no teu nariz e o meu freio, nos teus lábios e te farei voltar pelo caminho por onde vieste.
30 And this shalbe a signe vnto thee, O Hezekiah, Thou shalt eate this yeere such as groweth of it selfe: and the second yeere, such things as growe without sowing: and in the third yeere, sowe ye and reape, and plant vineyards, and eate the fruite thereof.
30 E isto te será por sinal: este ano se comerá o que espontaneamente nascer e, no segundo ano, o que daí proceder; mas, no terceiro ano, semeai, e segai, e plantai vinhas, e comei os frutos delas.
31 And the remnant that is escaped of the house of Iudah, shall againe take roote downward and beare fruite vpward.
31 Porque o que escapou da casa de Judá e ficou de resto tornará a lançar raízes para baixo e dará fruto para cima.
32 For out of Ierusalem shall goe a remnant, and they that escape out of mount Zion: the zeale of the Lord of hostes shall doe this.
32 Porque de Jerusalém sairá o restante, e, do monte Sião, o que escapou; o zelo do Senhor dos Exércitos fará isso.
33 Therefore thus sayth the Lord, concerning the King of Asshur, He shall not enter into this citie, nor shoote an arrow there, nor come before it with shield, nor cast a mount against it.
33 Pelo que assim diz o Senhor acerca do rei da Assíria: Não entrará nesta cidade, nem lançará nela flecha alguma; tampouco virá perante ela com escudo, ou levantará contra ela tranqueira.
34 By the same way that he came, he shall returne, and not come into this citie, saith the Lord.
34 Pelo caminho por onde vier, por esse voltará; mas nesta cidade não entrará, diz o Senhor .
35 For I will defend this citie to saue it, for mine owne sake, and for my seruant Dauids sake.
35 Porque eu ampararei esta cidade, para a livrar, por amor de mim e por amor do meu servo Davi.
36 Then the Angel of the Lord went out, and smote in the campe of Asshur an hundreth, fourescore, and fiue thousand: so when they arose early in the morning, beholde, they were all dead corpses.
36 Então, saiu o Anjo do Senhor e feriu, no arraial dos assírios, a cento e oitenta e cinco mil; e, quando se levantaram pela manhã cedo, eis que tudo eram corpos mortos.
37 So Saneherib king of Asshur departed, and went away and returned and dwelt at Nineueh.
37 Assim, Senaqueribe, rei da Assíria, se retirou, e se foi, e voltou, e ficou em Nínive.
38 And as he was in the temple worshipping of Nisroch his god, Adramelech and Sharezer his sonnes slewe him with the sword, and they escaped into the land of Ararat: and Esarhaddon his sonne reigned in his steade.
38 E sucedeu que, estando ele prostrado na casa de Nisroque, seu deus, Adrameleque e Sarezer, seus filhos, o feriram à espada; e eles fugiram para a terra de Ararate; e Esar-Hadom, seu filho, reinou em seu lugar.
