1 Then Salomon the sonne of Dauid was confirmed in his kingdome: and the Lord his God was with him, and magnified him highly.
1 Salomão, filho de Davi, consolidou-se no seu reino. O Senhor, seu Deus, estava com ele e desenvolvia seu poder.
2 And Salomon spake vnto all Israel, to the captaines of thousandes, and of hundreths, and to the iudges, and to all the gouernours in all Israel, euen the chiefe fathers.
2 O rei deu ordens a todo o Israel, aos chefes de milhares, chefes de centenas, aos juízes e aos príncipes, aos principais chefes de família,
3 So Salomon and all the Congregation with him went to the hie place that was at Gibeon: for there was the Tabernacle of the Congregation of God which Moses the seruant of the Lord had made in the wildernesse.
3 e todos com ele dirigiram-se ao lugar alto de Gabaon; pois é lá que se encontrava a tenda de reunião de Deus, que Moisés, servo do Senhor, tinha construído no deserto.
4 But the Arke of God had Dauid brought vp from Kiriath-iearim, when Dauid had made preparation for it: for he had pitched a tent for it in Ierusalem.
4 Quanto à arca de Deus, Davi a tinha transportado de Cariatiarim ao lugar que lhe tinha preparado, pois havia preparado para ela um pavilhão em Jerusalém.
5 Moreouer the brasen altar that Bezaleel the sonne of Vri, the sonne of Hur had made, did hee set before the Tabernacle of the Lord: and Salomon and the Congregation sought it.
5 Encontrava-se também em Gabaon, diante do santuário do Senhor, o altar de bronze que Bezeleel, filho de Uri, filho de Hur, tinha construído. Salomão vinha, pois, consultar o Senhor, com a assembléia.
6 And Salomon offred there before the Lord vpon the brasen altar that was in the Tabernacle of the Congregation: euen a thousand burnt offrings offred he vpon it.
6 Lá, sobre o altar de bronze, na presença do Senhor, perto da tenda de reunião, Salomão ofereceu mil holocaustos.
7 The same night did God appeare vnto Salomon, and sayde vnto him, Aske what I shall giue thee.
7 Nessa mesma noite, Deus apareceu ao rei e lhe disse: Pede o que desejas, que eu te dou.
8 And Salomon sayde vnto God, Thou hast shewed great mercy vnto Dauid my father and hast made me to reigne in his stead.
8 Salomão respondeu a Deus: Vós tratastes meu pai Davi com uma grande benevolência, e me fizestes rei em seu lugar.
9 Nowe therefore, O Lord God, let thy promise vnto Dauid my father be true: for thou hast made mee King ouer a great people, like to the dust of the earth.
9 Senhor, Deus, ratificai, portanto, a promessa que fizestes a Davi, meu pai, já que me fizestes rei de um povo numeroso como o pó da terra.
10 Giue me now wisdome and knowledge, that I may go out and go in before this people: for who can iudge this thy great people?
10 Dignai-vos, portanto, conceder-me a sabedoria e a inteligência, a fim de que eu saiba como me conduzir à frente desse povo. {Sem isso}, quem poderia governar esse povo tão grande como é o vosso?
11 And God sayde to Salomon, Because this was in thine heart, and thou hast not asked riches, treasures nor honour, nor the liues of thine enemies, neither yet hast asked long life, but hast asked for thee wisdome and knowledge that thou mightest iudge my people, ouer whome I haue made thee King,
11 Disse Deus a Salomão: Já que este é o desejo de teu coração, e não me pedes nem riquezas, nem tesouros, nem glória, nem a vida de teus inimigos, nem uma longa vida, mas me pedes sabedoria e inteligência a fim de bem governar o povo do qual eu te fiz rei,
12 Wisdome and knowledge is granted vnto thee, and I will giue thee riches and treasures and honour, so that there hath not bene the like among the Kings which were before thee, neither after thee shall there be the like.
12 pois bem, a sabedoria e a inteligência ser-te-ão concedidas, mas também riquezas, tesouros e glória mais do que jamais possuíram os reis, teus predecessores, e que jamais possuirão teus sucessores.
13 Then Salomon came from the hie place, that was at Gibeon, to Ierusalem from before the Tabernacle of the Congregation, and reigned ouer Israel.
13 Então, descendo do lugar alto de Gabaon onde estava a tenda de reunião, Salomão retornou a Jerusalém. Ele reinava sobre Israel.
14 And Salomon gathered the charets and horesemen: and he had a thousand and foure hundreth charets, and twelue thousande horsemen, whome he placed in the charet cities, and with the King at Ierusalem.
14 Ajuntou ele carros e cavalos: possuía mil e quatrocentos carros e doze mil cavaleiros, que colocou nas cidades para os carros, assim como em Jerusalém, perto de si.
15 And the King gaue siluer and gold at Ierusalem as stones, and gaue cedar trees as the wilde figge trees, that are abundantly in the playne.
15 Graças a ele, a prata e o ouro tornaram-se em Jerusalém tão comuns como pedras, e os cedros tão numerosos como os sicômoros da planície.
16 Also Salomon had horses brought out of Egypt and fine linen: the Kings marchants receiued the fine linen for a price.
16 Era do Egito que Salomão importava seus cavalos; uma caravana de fornecedores reais ia buscá-los em tropas por um preço ajustado.
17 They came vp also and brought out of Egypt some charet, worth sixe hundreth shekels of siluer, that is an horse for an hundreth and fiftie: and thus they brought horses to all the Kings of the Hittites, and to the Kings of Aram by their meanes.
17 Importavam do Egito uma parelha completa por seiscentos siclos de prata; e um cavalo por cento e cinqüenta. Assim, da mesma maneira, faziam vir para os reis dos hititas e para os da Síria.
