1 And when Rehoboam had established the kingdome and made it strong, hee forsooke the Lawe of the Lord, and all Israel with him.
1 Depois que Roboão se fortaleceu, firmou-se como rei, ele e todo o Israel abandonaram a lei do Senhor.
2 Therefore in the fift yeere of King Rehoboam, Shishak the King of Egypt came vp against Ierusalem (because they had transgressed against the Lord)
2 Por terem sido infiéis ao Senhor, Sisaque, rei do Egito, atacou Jerusalém no quinto ano do reinado de Roboão.
3 With twelue hundreth charets, and three score thousande horsemen, and the people were without nomber, that came with him from Egypt, euen the Lubims, Sukkiims, and the Ethiopians.
3 Com mil e duzentos carros de guerra, sessenta mil cavaleiros e um exército incontável de líbios, suquitas e etíopes, que vieram do Egito com ele,
4 And he tooke the strong cities which were of Iudah, and came vnto Ierusalem.
4 conquistou as cidades fortificadas de Judá e chegou até Jerusalém.
5 Then came Shemaiah the Prophet to Rehoboam, and to the princes of Iudah, that were gathered together in Hierusalem, because of Shishak, and sayde vnto them, Thus sayth the Lord, Ye haue forsaken me, therefore haue I also left you in the handes of Shishak.
5 Então o profeta Semaías apresentou-se a Roboão e aos líderes de Judá que se haviam reunido em Jerusalém, fugindo de Sisaque, e lhes disse: "Assim diz o Senhor: ‘Vocês me abandonaram; por isso eu agora os abandono, entregando-os a Sisaque’ ".
6 Then the princes of Israel, and the King humbled themselues, and sayde, The Lord is iust.
6 Os líderes de Israel e o rei se humilharam e disseram: "O Senhor é justo".
7 And when the Lord sawe that they humbled themselues, the worde of the Lord came to Shemaiah, saying, They haue humbled theselues, therefore I will not destroy them, but I will sende them deliuerance shortly, and my wrath shall not bee powred out vpon Ierusalem by the hand of Shishak.
7 Quando o Senhor viu que eles se humilharam, veio a Semaías esta palavra do Senhor: "Visto que eles se humilharam, não os destruirei, mas em breve lhes darei livramento. Minha ira não será derramada sobre Jerusalém por meio de Sisaque.
8 Neuerthelesse they shalbe his sernants: so shall they knowe my seruice, and the seruice of the kingdomes of the earth.
8 Eles, contudo, ficarão sujeitos a ele, para que aprendam a diferença entre servir a mim e servir aos reis de outras terras".
9 Then Shishak King of Egypt came vp against Ierusalem, and tooke the treasures of the house of the Lord, and the treasures of the Kings house he tooke euen all, and hee caried away the shields of golde, which Salomon had made.
9 Quando Sisaque, rei do Egito, atacou Jerusalém, levou todos os tesouros do templo do Senhor e do palácio real, inclusive os escudos de ouro que Salomão havia feito.
10 In stead whereof King Rehoboam made shieldes of brasse, and committed them to the handes of the chiefe of the garde, that wayted at the doore of the Kings house.
10 Por isso o rei Roboão mandou fazer escudos de bronze para substituí-los, e os entregou aos chefes da guarda da entrada do palácio real.
11 And when the King entred into the house of the Lord, the garde came and bare them and brought them againe vnto the garde chamber.
11 Sempre que o rei ia ao templo do Senhor, os guardas empunhavam os escudos, e, em seguida, os devolviam à sala da guarda.
12 And because hee humbled himselfe, the wrath of the Lord turned from him, that hee woulde not destroy all together. And also in Iudah the things prospered.
12 Como Roboão se humilhou, a ira do Senhor afastou-se dele, e ele não foi totalmente destruído. Aliás, ainda havia algo de bom em Judá.
13 So King Rehoboam was strong in Ierusalem and reigned: for Rehoboam was one and fourtie yere olde, when he began to reigne, and reigned seuenteene yeres in Ierusalem, the citie which the Lord had chosen out of all the tribes of Israel to put his Name there. And his mothers name was Naamah an Ammonitesse.
13 O rei Roboão firmou-se no poder em Jerusalém e continuou a reinar. Tinha quarenta e um anos de idade quando começou a reinar, e reinou dezessete anos em Jerusalém, cidade que o Senhor havia escolhido dentre todas as tribos de Israel para nela pôr o seu nome. Sua mãe, uma amonita, chamava-se Naamá.
14 And he did euill: for hee prepared not his heart to seeke the Lord.
14 Ele agiu mal porque não dispôs o seu coração para buscar o Senhor.
15 The actes also of Rehoboam, first and last, are they not written in the booke of Shemaiah the Prophet, and Iddo the Seer, in rehearsing the genealogie? and there was warre alway betweene Rehoboam and Ieroboam.
15 Os demais acontecimentos do reinado de Roboão, do início ao fim, estão escritos nos relatos do profeta Semaías e do vidente Ido, que tratam de genealogias. Houve guerra constante entre Roboão e Jeroboão.
16 And Rehoboam slept with his fathers, and was buried in the citie of Dauid, and Abiiah his sonne reigned in his stead.
16 Roboão descansou com os seus antepassados e foi sepultado na cidade de Davi; seu filho Abias foi o seu sucessor.
