1 And when Rehoboam had established the kingdome and made it strong, hee forsooke the Lawe of the Lord, and all Israel with him.
1 Logo que Roboão firmou o seu poder como rei de Judá, ele e todo o seu povo deixaram de obedecer à Lei de Deus, o Senhor .
2 Therefore in the fift yeere of King Rehoboam, Shishak the King of Egypt came vp against Ierusalem (because they had transgressed against the Lord)
2 Eles foram infiéis a Deus, e por isso no quinto ano do reinado de Roboão, Sisaque, rei do Egito, atacou Jerusalém.
3 With twelue hundreth charets, and three score thousande horsemen, and the people were without nomber, that came with him from Egypt, euen the Lubims, Sukkiims, and the Ethiopians.
3 Ele tinha mil e duzentos carros de guerra, sessenta mil cavaleiros e um exército enorme de líbios, suquitas e etíopes; eram tantos, que não podiam ser contados.
4 And he tooke the strong cities which were of Iudah, and came vnto Ierusalem.
4 Sisaque conquistou as cidades-fortaleza de Judá e marchou contra Jerusalém.
5 Then came Shemaiah the Prophet to Rehoboam, and to the princes of Iudah, that were gathered together in Hierusalem, because of Shishak, and sayde vnto them, Thus sayth the Lord, Ye haue forsaken me, therefore haue I also left you in the handes of Shishak.
5 Aí o profeta Semaías foi falar com Roboão e com as altas autoridades do país, que se haviam ajuntado em Jerusalém, fugindo de Sisaque. Semaías disse: — Esta é a mensagem de Deus, o
6 Then the princes of Israel, and the King humbled themselues, and sayde, The Lord is iust.
6 Então o rei e as autoridades confessaram o seu pecado e disseram: — O
7 And when the Lord sawe that they humbled themselues, the worde of the Lord came to Shemaiah, saying, They haue humbled theselues, therefore I will not destroy them, but I will sende them deliuerance shortly, and my wrath shall not bee powred out vpon Ierusalem by the hand of Shishak.
7 Quando o Senhor viu que eles se haviam arrependido, disse a Semaías: — Eles se arrependeram, e por isso não vou destruí-los. Daqui a pouco vou salvá-los. Eu não vou usar Sisaque para descarregar a minha
8 Neuerthelesse they shalbe his sernants: so shall they knowe my seruice, and the seruice of the kingdomes of the earth.
8 Mas vou deixar que Sisaque os domine a fim de que eles vejam qual é a diferença entre servir a mim e servir reis estrangeiros.
9 Then Shishak King of Egypt came vp against Ierusalem, and tooke the treasures of the house of the Lord, and the treasures of the Kings house he tooke euen all, and hee caried away the shields of golde, which Salomon had made.
9 Então o rei Sisaque atacou Jerusalém e a tomou; levou embora todos os tesouros do Templo e do palácio e também os escudos de ouro que Salomão havia feito.
10 In stead whereof King Rehoboam made shieldes of brasse, and committed them to the handes of the chiefe of the garde, that wayted at the doore of the Kings house.
10 Para colocar no lugar deles, o rei Roboão fez escudos de bronze e os entregou aos oficiais encarregados de guardar os portões do palácio.
11 And when the King entred into the house of the Lord, the garde came and bare them and brought them againe vnto the garde chamber.
11 Todas as vezes que o rei ia ao Templo, os guardas pegavam e carregavam os escudos e depois os levavam de volta para a sala dos guardas.
12 And because hee humbled himselfe, the wrath of the Lord turned from him, that hee woulde not destroy all together. And also in Iudah the things prospered.
12 Assim Deus acalmou a sua ira e não destruiu Roboão, pois Roboão se arrependeu. E além disso havia gente boa na terra de Judá.
13 So King Rehoboam was strong in Ierusalem and reigned: for Rehoboam was one and fourtie yere olde, when he began to reigne, and reigned seuenteene yeres in Ierusalem, the citie which the Lord had chosen out of all the tribes of Israel to put his Name there. And his mothers name was Naamah an Ammonitesse.
13 O rei Roboão foi ficando cada vez mais forte e continuou a reinar em Jerusalém. Ele tinha quarenta e um anos de idade quando se tornou rei. E governou dezessete anos em Jerusalém, a cidade que o Senhor Deus havia escolhido entre todas as tribos da terra de Israel como o lugar onde devia ser adorado. A mãe de Roboão era Naama, do país de Amom.
14 And he did euill: for hee prepared not his heart to seeke the Lord.
14 Roboão fez o que era errado, pois não procurou com todo o coração conhecer a vontade de Deus, o Senhor .
15 The actes also of Rehoboam, first and last, are they not written in the booke of Shemaiah the Prophet, and Iddo the Seer, in rehearsing the genealogie? and there was warre alway betweene Rehoboam and Ieroboam.
15 Todas as outras coisas que Roboão fez, do princípio até o fim do seu reinado, estão escritas na História do Profeta Semaías e na História do Profeta Ido , conforme está registrado na lista dos antepassados de Roboão. 16 And Rehoboam slept with his fathers, and was buried in the citie of Dauid, and Abiiah his sonne reigned in his stead.
