1 Let as many seruaunts as are vnder the yoke, count their masters worthie of all honour, that the Name of God, and his doctrine be not euill spoken of.
1 Todos os servos que estão debaixo do jugo considerem seus senhores dignos de toda a honra, para que o nome de Deus e sua doutrina não sejam blasfemados.
2 And they which haue beleeuing masters, let them not despise them, because they are brethren, but rather doe seruice, because they are faithfull, and beloued, and partakers of the benefite. These things teach and exhort.
2 E os que têm senhores crentes não os desprezem, por serem irmãos; antes, os sirvam, porque eles são fiéis e amados, participantes do benefício. Ensine e exorte estas coisas.
3 If any man teach otherwise, and consenteth not to the wholesome wordes of our Lord Iesus Christ, and to the doctrine, which is according to godlinesse,
3 Se alguém ensina de outro modo, e se não conforma com as sãs palavras de nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo e com a doutrina que é segundo a piedade,
4 He is puft vp and knoweth nothing, but doteth about questions and strife of words, whereof commeth enuie, strife, railings, euill surmisings,
4 é orgulhoso e nada sabe, mas delira acerca de questões e contendas de palavras, das quais surgem invejas, porfias, injúrias, más suposições,
5 Frowarde disputations of men of corrupt mindes and destitute of ye trueth, which thinke that gaine is godlines: from such separate thy selfe.
5 contendas perversas de homens corruptos da mente e destruídos da verdade, supondo que lucro é piedade. Aparta-te dos tais.
6 But godlinesse is great gaine, if a man be content with that he hath.
6 Mas a piedade com contentamento é grande ganho.
7 For we brought nothing into the world, and it is certaine, that we can carie nothing out.
7 Porque nada trouxemos para este mundo e é certo que nada podemos levar dele.
8 Therefore when wee haue foode and raiment, let vs therewith be content.
8 Tendo, porém, comida e vestuário, estejamos com isso contentes.
9 For they that will be rich, fall into tentation and snares, and into many foolish and noysome lustes, which drowne men in perdition and destruction.
9 Mas os que querem ser ricos caem em tentação, e em laço, e em muitas concupiscências tolas e nocivas, que submergem os homens na destruição e perdição.
10 For the desire of money is the roote of all euill, which while some lusted after, they erred from the faith, and pearced themselues through with many sorowes.
10 Porque o amor ao dinheiro é a raiz de todo o mal; e nessa cobiça alguns se desviaram da fé e se traspassaram a si mesmos com muitas dores.
11 But thou, O man of God, flee these things, and follow after righteousnesse, godlines, faith, loue, patience, and meekenes.
11 Mas tu, ó homem de Deus, foge destas coisas e segue a justiça, a piedade, a fé, o amor, a paciência, a mansidão.
12 Fight the good fight of faith: lay holde of eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.
12 Luta o bom combate da fé, toma posse da vida eterna, para a qual também foste chamado, tendo já confessado boa confissão diante de muitas testemunhas.
13 I charge thee in the sight of God, who quickeneth all thinges, and before Iesus Christ, which vnder Pontius Pilate witnessed a good confession,
13 Mando-te aos olhos de Deus, que todas as coisas vivifica, e diante de Cristo Jesus, que diante de Pôncio Pilatos deu o testemunho de boa confissão,
14 That thou keepe this commandement without spot, and vnrebukeable, vntill the appearing of our Lord Iesus Christ,
14 que guardes este mandamento sem mácula e repreensão, até a aparição de nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo;
15 Which in due time hee shall shewe, that is blessed and Prince onely, the King of Kings and Lord of Lordes,
15 a qual, a seu tempo, mostrará quem é o bendito e único Poderoso, Rei dos reis e Senhor dos senhores;
16 Who onely hath immortalitie, and dwelleth in the light that none can attaine vnto, whom neuer man sawe, neither can see, vnto whome bee honour and power euerlasting, Amen.
16 o único que tem a imortalidade e habita na luz da qual ninguém pode se aproximar; a quem nenhum dos homens viu nem pode ver; ao qual seja a honra e poder para sempre. Amém.
17 Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not high minded, and that they trust not in vncertaine riches, but in the liuing God, (which giueth vs aboundantly, all things to enioy)
17 Manda aos que são ricos neste mundo que não sejam altivos, nem confiem na incerteza das riquezas, mas no Deus vivo, que abundantemente nos dá todas as coisas para deleites;
18 That they doe good, and be riche in good woorkes, and readie to distribute, and comunicate,
18 que façam o bem, que sejam ricos em bons trabalhos, prontos a repartir, dispostos a se comunicar;
19 Laying vp in store for themselues a good foundation against the time to come, that they may obteine eternall life.
19 que entesourem para si mesmos um bom fundamento para o futuro, para que possam alcançar a vida eterna.
20 O Timotheus, keepe that which is committed vnto thee, and auoide prophane and vaine babblings, and oppositios of science falsely so called,
20 Ó Timóteo, guarda o que te foi confiado, evitando os falatórios vãos e profanos e as oposições da falsamente chamada ciência,
21 Which while some professe, they haue erred concerning the faith. Grace be with thee, Amen. ‘The first Epistle to Timotheus, written from Laodicea, which is the chiefest citie of Phrygia Pacaciana.’
21 a qual professando-a alguns, se desviaram da fé. A graça seja contigo. Amém.
