1 I Exhort therefore, that first of all supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giuing of thanks be made for all men,
1 Em primeiro lugar, recomendo que sejam feitas petições, orações, intercessões e ações de graça em favor de todos,
2 For Kings, and for all that are in authoritie, that we may leade a quiet and a peaceable life, in all godlinesse and honestie.
2 em favor dos reis e de todos que exercem autoridade, para que tenhamos uma vida pacífica e tranquila, caracterizada por devoção e dignidade.
3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Sauiour,
3 Isso é bom e agrada a Deus, nosso Salvador,
4 Who will that all men shalbe saued, and come vnto the acknowledging of the trueth.
4 cujo desejo é que todos sejam salvos e conheçam a verdade.
5 For there is one God, and one Mediatour betweene God and man, which is the man Christ Iesus,
5 Pois: Há um só Deus e um só Mediador entre Deus e a humanidade: o homem Cristo Jesus.
6 Who gaue himselfe a ransome for all men, to be that testimonie in due time,
6 Ele deu sua vida para comprar a liberdade de todos. Essa é a mensagem que foi entregue ao mundo no momento oportuno.
7 Whereunto I am ordeined a preacher and an Apostle (I speake the trueth in Christ, and lie not) euen a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and veritie.
7 E eu fui escolhido como pregador e apóstolo para ensinar aos gentios essa mensagem a respeito da fé e da verdade. Não estou mentindo; digo a verdade.
8 I will therefore that the men pray, euery where lifting vp pure hands without wrath, or douting.
8 Quero, portanto, que em todo lugar de culto os homens orem com mãos santas levantadas, livres de ira e de controvérsias.
9 Likewise also the women, that they aray themselues in comely apparell, with shamefastnes and modestie, not with broyded heare, or gold, or pearles, or costly apparell,
9 Da mesma forma, quero que as mulheres tenham discrição em sua aparência. Que usem roupas decentes e apropriadas, sem chamar a atenção pela maneira como arrumam o cabelo ou por usarem ouro, pérolas ou roupas caras.
10 But (as becommeth women that professe the feare of God) with good workes.
10 Pois as mulheres que afirmam ser devotas a Deus devem se embelezar com as boas obras que praticam.
11 Let the woman learne in silence with all subiection.
11 As mulheres devem aprender em silêncio e com toda submissão.
12 I permit not a woman to teache, neither to vsurpe authoritie ouer the man, but to be in silence.
12 Não permito que as mulheres ensinem aos homens, nem que tenham autoridade sobre eles. Antes, devem ouvir em silêncio.
13 For Adam was first formed, then Eue.
13 Porque primeiro Deus fez Adão e, depois, Eva.
14 And Adam was not deceiued, but the woman was deceiued, and was in the transgression.
14 E não foi Adão o enganado. A mulher é que foi enganada, e o resultado foi o pecado.
15 Notwithstanding, through bearing of children she shalbe saued if they continue in faith, and loue, and holines with modestie.
15 Mas as mulheres serão salvas dando à luz filhos, desde que continuem a viver na fé, no amor e na santidade, com discrição.
