1 Dearely beloued, beleeue not euery spirit, but trie the spirits whether they are of God: for many false prophets are gone out into this worlde.
1 Amados, não creiais a todo o espírito, mas provai se os espíritos são de Deus, porque já muitos falsos profetas se têm levantado no mundo.
2 Hereby shall ye know the Spirit of God, Euery spirit which confesseth that Iesus Christ is come in the flesh, is of God.
2 Nisto conhecereis o Espírito de Deus: Todo o espírito que confessa que Jesus Cristo veio em carne é de Deus;
3 And euery spirit that confesseth not that Iesus Christ is come in the flesh, is not of God: but this is the spirit of Antichrist, of whome ye haue heard, how that he should come, and nowe already he is in this world.
3 E todo o espírito que não confessa que Jesus Cristo veio em carne não é de Deus; mas este é o espírito do anticristo, do qual já ouvistes que há de vir, e eis que já agora está no mundo.
4 Litle children, ye are of God, and haue ouercome them: for greater is he that is in you, then he that is in this world.
4 Filhinhos, sois de Deus, e já os tendes vencido; porque maior é o que está em vós do que o que está no mundo.
5 They are of this worlde, therefore speake they of this world, and this world heareth them.
5 Do mundo são, por isso falam do mundo, e o mundo os ouve.
6 We are of God, he that knoweth God, heareth vs: he that is not of God, heareth vs not. Heereby knowe wee the spirit of trueth, and the spirit of errour.
6 Nós somos de Deus; aquele que conhece a Deus ouve-nos; aquele que não é de Deus não nos ouve. Nisto conhecemos nós o espírito da verdade e o espírito do erro.
7 Beloued, let vs loue one another: for loue commeth of God, and euery one that loueth, is borne of God, and knoweth God.
7 Amados, amemo-nos uns aos outros; porque o amor é de Deus; e qualquer que ama é nascido de Deus e conhece a Deus.
8 Hee that loueth not, knoweth not God: for God is loue.
8 Aquele que não ama não conhece a Deus; porque Deus é amor.
9 Herein was that loue of God made manifest amongst vs, because God sent that his onely begotten sonne into this world, that we might liue through him.
9 Nisto se manifestou o amor de Deus para conosco: que Deus enviou seu Filho unigênito ao mundo, para que por ele vivamos.
10 Herein is that loue, not that we loued God, but that he loued vs, and sent his Sonne to be a reconciliation for our sinnes.
10 Nisto está o amor, não em que nós tenhamos amado a Deus, mas em que ele nos amou a nós, e enviou seu Filho para propiciação pelos nossos pecados.
11 Beloued, if God so loued vs, we ought also to loue one another.
11 Amados, se Deus assim nos amou, também nòs devemos amar uns aos outros.
12 No man hath seene God at any time. If we loue one another, God dwelleth in vs, and his loue is perfect in vs.
12 Ninguém jamais viu a Deus; se nos amamos uns aos outros, Deus está em nós, e em nós é perfeito o seu amor.
13 Hereby know we, that we dwell in him, and he in vs: because he hath giuen vs of his Spirit.
13 Nisto conhecemos que estamos nele, e ele em nós, pois que nos deu do seu Espírito.
14 And we haue seene, and doe testifie, that the Father sent that Sonne to be ye Sauiour of the world.
14 E vimos, e testificamos que o Pai enviou seu Filho para Salvador do mundo.
15 Whosoeuer confesseth that Iesus is the Sone of God, in him dwelleth God, and he in God.
15 Qualquer que confessar que Jesus é o Filho de Deus, Deus está nele, e ele em Deus.
16 And we haue knowen, and beleeued ye loue that God hath in vs. God is loue, and he that dwelleth in loue, dwelleth in God, and God in him.
16 E nós conhecemos, e cremos no amor que Deus nos tem. Deus é amor; e quem está em amor está em Deus, e Deus nele.
17 Herein is that loue perfect in vs, that we should haue boldnes in the day of iudgement: for as he is, euen so are we in this world.
17 Nisto é perfeito o amor para conosco, para que no dia do juízo tenhamos confiança; porque, qual ele é, somos nós também neste mundo.
18 There is no feare in loue, but perfect loue casteth out feare: for feare hath painefulnesse: and he that feareth, is not perfect in loue.
18 No amor não há temor, antes o perfeito amor lança fora o temor; porque o temor tem consigo a pena, e o que teme não é perfeito em amor.
19 We loue him, because he loued vs first.
19 Nós o amamos a ele porque ele nos amou primeiro.
20 If any man say, I loue God, and hate his brother, he is a liar: for how can he that loueth not his brother whom he hath seene, loue God whom he hath not seene?
20 Se alguém diz: Eu amo a Deus, e odeia a seu irmão, é mentiroso. Pois quem não ama a seu irmão, ao qual viu, como pode amar a Deus, a quem não viu?
21 And this commandement haue we of him, that he that loueth God, should loue his brother also.
21 E dele temos este mandamento: que quem ama a Deus, ame também a seu irmão.
