1 But the Spirit distinctly saith, that in the last times some will remove from the faith, and will go after deceiving spirits, and after doctrines of demons.
1 O Espírito diz expressamente que, nos tempos vindouros, alguns hão de apostatar da fé, dando ouvidos a espíritos embusteiros e a doutrinas diabólicas,
2 These, with a false appearance, will deceive, speaking a lie, and seared in their conscience,
2 de hipócritas e impostores que, marcados na própria consciência com o ferrete da infâmia,
3 and prohibiting to marry, and abstaining from meats, which Aloha created to be used with thanksgiving by them who believe and know the truth;
3 proíbem o casamento, assim como o uso de alimentos que Deus criou para que sejam tomados com ação de graças pelos fiéis e pelos que conhecem a verdade.
4 because every creature of Aloha is good, and nothing to be abominated, if with thanksgiving it be received;
4 Pois tudo o que Deus criou é bom e nada há de reprovável, quando se usa com ação de graças.
5 for it is sanctified by the word of Aloha, and by prayer.
5 Porque se torna santificado pela palavra de Deus e pela oração.
6 These if thou shalt teach thy brethren, a good minister wilt thou be of Jeshu Meshiha, while thou wilt be enlarged with words of faith and of the good doctrine which thou hast learned.
6 Recomenda esta doutrina aos irmãos, e serás bom ministro de Jesus Cristo, alimentado com as palavras da fé e da sã doutrina que até agora seguiste com exatidão.
7 But from the foolish stories of old women abstain; and exercise thy soul in righteousness.
7 Quanto às fábulas profanas, esses contos extravagantes de comadres, rejeita-as.
8 For the exercise of the body a little time profiteth; but righteousness in every thing profiteth, and hath the promise of the life of this time, and of the future.
8 Exercita-te na piedade. Se o exercício corporal traz algum pequeno proveito, a piedade, esta sim, é útil para tudo, porque tem a promessa da vida presente e da futura.
9 FAITHFUL is the saying and worthy is it of reception:
9 Eis uma verdade absolutamente certa e digna de fé:
10 for on this account we labour and are reproached, because we hope in Aloha the Living, who is the Saviour of all men, and especially of the believers.
10 se nos afadigamos e sofremos ultrajes, é porque pusemos a nossa esperança em Deus vivo, que é o Salvador de todos os homens, sobretudo dos fiéis.
11 These teach and command.
11 Seja este o objeto de tuas prescrições e dos teus ensinamentos.
12 And let no man despise thy youth; but be an example to the believers in word, and in conduct, and in charity, and in faith, and in purity.
12 Ninguém te despreze por seres jovem. Ao contrário, torna-te modelo para os fiéis, no modo de falar e de viver, na caridade, na fé, na castidade.
13 Till I come be diligent in reading, and in prayer, and in teaching.
13 Enquanto eu não chegar, aplica-te à leitura, à exortação, ao ensino.
14 Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee with prophecy, and the hand-laying of the presbytery.
14 Não negligencies o carisma que está em ti e que te foi dado por profecia, quando a assembléia dos anciãos te impôs as mãos.
15 In these meditate, and in them be, that it may be known to every man that thou goest onward.
15 Põe nisto toda a diligência e empenho, de tal modo que se torne manifesto a todos o teu aproveitamento.
16 And take heed to thyself, and to thy doctrine, and persevere in them; for while these thou doest, thyself wilt thou save, and them who hear thee.
16 Olha por ti e pela instrução dos outros. E persevera nestas coisas. Se isto fizeres, salvar-te-ás a ti mesmo e aos que te ouvirem.
