1 RESPECTING the sacrifices of idols, we know that in all of us there is knowledge; and knowledge inflateth, but love buildeth up.
1 Ora, no tocante às coisas sacrificadas aos ídolos, sabemos que todos temos ciência. A ciência incha, mas o amor edifica.
2 But if a man think that he knows any thing, he knows nothing yet as it behoves him to know:
2 E, se alguém cuida saber alguma coisa, ainda não sabe como convém saber.
3 but if a man love Aloha, this (one) is acknowledged of him.
3 Mas, se alguém ama a Deus, esse é conhecido dele.
4 Concerning the meat of the sacrifices of idols, then, we know that an idol is nothing in the world, and that there is no other God but one.
4 Assim que, quanto ao comer das coisas sacrificadas aos ídolos, sabemos que o ídolo nada é no mundo e que não há outro Deus, senão um só.
5 For there are also who are called gods, whether in heaven or in earth, as that there are gods many and lords many:
5 Porque, ainda que haja também alguns que se chamem deuses, quer no céu quer na terra (como há muitos deuses e muitos senhores),
6 but to us our One is Aloha the Father, of whom are all, and we in him; and one Lord Jeshu Meshiha, by whom are all, and we by him.
6 todavia, para nós há um só Deus, o Pai, de quem é tudo e para quem nós vivemos; e um só Senhor, Jesus Cristo, pelo qual são todas as coisas, e nós por ele.
7 But not in every man is this knowledge; for there are some who in their conscience until now (believe) that, with respect to idols, as of that which hath been sacrificed we eat. And because of weakness their conscience is defiled.
7 Mas nem em todos há conhecimento; porque alguns até agora comem, no seu costume para com o ídolo, coisas sacrificadas ao ídolo; e a sua consciência, sendo fraca, fica contaminada.
8 But meat doth not bring us nigh to Aloha. For if we eat, we excel not; nor if we eat not, are we deficient.
8 Ora, o manjar não nos faz agradáveis a Deus, porque, se comemos, nada temos de mais, e, se não comemos, nada nos falta.
9 But beware that this your power become not a stumbling-block to the infirm ones.
9 Mas vede que essa liberdade não seja de alguma maneira escândalo para os fracos.
10 For if a man shall see thee in whom is knowledge reclining in the house of idols, will not his conscience, because he is weak, be confirmed to eat that which is sacrificed,
10 Porque, se alguém te vir a ti, que tens ciência, sentado à mesa no templo dos ídolos, não será a consciência do que é fraco induzida a comer das coisas sacrificadas aos ídolos?
11 and he will perish through thy knowledge? he who is weak, and on account of whom the Meshiha died.
11 E, pela tua ciência, perecerá o irmão fraco, pelo qual Cristo morreu.
12 And if so you transgress against your brethren, and wound their weak consciences, do you not transgress against the Meshiha?
12 Ora, pecando assim contra os irmãos e ferindo a sua fraca consciência, pecais contra Cristo.
13 On this account, if meat cause my brother to stumble, I will never (more) eat flesh, that I may not cause my brother to stumble.
13 Pelo que, se o manjar escandalizar a meu irmão, nunca mais comerei carne, para que meu irmão não se escandalize.
