¹ In those days Hezekiah was sick unto the death; and Isaiah, the prophet, the son of Amoz, came to him, and said to him, The Lord God saith these things, Command to thine house, that is, make thy \+sls (last will and)\+sls* testament /Dispose to thine house (or Put thy house in order), for thou shalt die, and thou shalt not live.

¹ Naquele tempo, Ezequias foi atingido por uma enfermidade mortal. Veio o profeta Isaías, filho de Amós, ter com ele e disse-lhe: Eis o que diz o Senhor: Põe em ordem a tua casa, porque vais morrer; não sararás.

² And Hezekiah turned his face to the wall, and worshipped the Lord, and said,

² Então Ezequias voltou-se para o lado da parede e orou ao Senhor, dizendo:

³ I beseech, Lord, have mind, how I have gone before thee in truth, and in a perfect heart, and I did that, that was pleasant before thee. Then Hezekiah wept with a great weeping. (I beseech thee, Lord, remember, how I have gone before thee in truth, and with a perfect heart, and I did what was pleasing before thee. Then Hezekiah wept with a great weeping.)

³ Senhor, lembrai-vos de que andei fielmente diante de vós, e de que com lealdade de coração fiz o que é bom aos vossos olhos. E, dizendo isso, derramava abundantes lágrimas.

⁴ And before that Isaiah went out half the part of the court(yard), the word of the Lord was made to Isaiah, and said,

⁴ Isaías não tinha ainda deixado o átrio interior, quando a palavra do Senhor lhe foi dirigida nestes termos:

⁵ Turn thou again, and say to Hezekiah, the duke of my people, (or Return thou, and say to Hezekiah, the leader, \+em or the ruler\+em*, of my people), The Lord, (the) God of David, thy father, saith these things, I have heard thy prayer, and I saw thy tears, and lo! I have healed thee. In the third day thou shalt go up into the temple of the Lord,

⁵ Volta e dize a Ezequias, chefe de meu povo: Eis o que diz o Senhor, Deus de Davi, teu pai: Ouvi a tua oração, e vi as tuas lágrimas. Por isso vou curar-te. Dentro de três dias subirás ao templo do Senhor.

⁶ and I shall add fifteen years to thy days; but also I shall deliver thee and this city from the hand of the king of Assyrians, and I shall defend this city for me, and for David, my servant, (or and I shall defend this city for my sake, and for the sake of my servant David).

⁶ Vou acrescentar quinze anos aos dias de tua vida; além disso, salvar-te-ei, a ti e a esta cidade, das mãos do rei da Assíria, e protegerei esta cidade por amor de mim mesmo e de Davi, meu servo.

⁷ And Isaiah said, Bring ye to me a gobbet of figs. And when they had brought it, and had put (it) on his botch/and had put it on the botch of Hezekiah, he was healed.

⁷ Então disse Isaías: Trazei-me massa de figos. Trouxeram-na. Aplicou-a sobre a úlcera, e o rei ficou são.

⁸ And Hezekiah said to Isaiah, What shall be the sign, that the Lord shall heal me, and also that in the third day I shall go up into the temple of the Lord?

⁸ Ezequias disse a Isaías: Qual o sinal de que o Senhor me curou e de que poderei subir ao templo dentro de três dias?

⁹ To whom Isaiah said, This shall be a sign of the Lord, that the Lord shall do the word which he spake; wilt thou, that the shadow (of the sun) go further by ten lines, either turn again by so many degrees? (To whom Isaiah said, This shall be the sign from the Lord, that the Lord shall do the thing which he spoke; wilt thou, that the sun’s shadow go forward by ten degrees, or turn back by as many degrees?)

⁹ Isaías respondeu-lhe: Eis o sinal que te dará o Senhor para que saibas que se há de cumprir a sua promessa. Queres que a sombra se adiante dez graus ou recue dez graus?

¹⁰ And Hezekiah said, It is light, or easy, that the shadow increase by ten lines, neither I will that this be done, but that it turn again backward by ten degrees. (And Hezekiah said, It is easy for the shadow to increase by ten degrees, so I do not desire that this be done, but rather, that it go backward by ten degrees.)

¹⁰ É fácil, replicou Ezequias, que a sombra se adiante dez graus. Não! Quero que ela recue dez graus.

¹¹ Then Isaiah, the prophet, called inwardly (upon) the Lord, and brought again backward by ten degrees the shadow by the same lines, by which it had gone down then in the horologe of Ahaz. (Then the prophet Isaiah inwardly called to the Lord, and brought the shadow backward by ten degrees, by the same lines by which it had gone forward on Ahaz’s sundial.)

¹¹ Orou o profeta Isaías, e o Senhor fez com que a sombra recuasse dez graus no relógio solar de Acaz.

¹² In that time, Berodach-baladan, the son of Baladan, the king of Babylon, sent letters and gifts to Hezekiah; for he had heard that Hezekiah had been sick, and had recovered. (Now at that time, Berodach-baladan, the son of Baladan, the king of Babylon, sent letters and gifts to Hezekiah; for he had heard that Hezekiah had been sick.)

¹² Naquele tempo, ouvindo o rei de Babilônia, Merodac-Baladã, que Ezequias se achava enfermo, mandou-lhe uma carta com presentes.

¹³ And Hezekiah was glad in the coming of them (or And Hezekiah welcomed the messengers), and he showed to them the house of spiceries, and (the) gold, and silver, and diverse pigments, (and) also (the) ointments, and the house of his vessels, and all (the) things that he might have in his treasures; there was not any word, or thing, in his house, and in all his power, that Hezekiah showed not to them.

¹³ Ezequias, contentíssimo com a vinda desses mensageiros, mostrou-lhes o palácio onde se encontravam os seus tesouros, a prata, o ouro, os aromas, o óleo precioso, o seu arsenal e tudo o que se encontrava em suas reservas. Nada houve em seu palácio e em suas propriedades que Ezequias não lhes mostrasse.

¹⁴ Soothly Isaiah, the prophet, came to king Hezekiah, and said to him, What said these men, either from whence came they to thee? To whom Hezekiah said, They came to me from a far land, from Babylon. (And the prophet Isaiah came to King Hezekiah, and said to him, What did these men say to thee, and from where did they come? To whom Hezekiah said, They came to me from a far land, from Babylon.)

¹⁴ O profeta Isaías foi ter com o rei e perguntou-lhe: Que te disse aquela gente? De onde vieram esses homens para te visitar? Vieram de uma terra longínqua, de Babilônia, respondeu Ezequias.

¹⁵ And he answered, What have they seen in thine house? Hezekiah said, They have seen all things, whatever things be in mine house; nothing is in my treasures, which I showed not to them. (And Isaiah asked, What have they seen in thy house? And Hezekiah said, They have seen everything that is in my house; there is nothing among my treasures, which I have not shown them.)

¹⁵ Isaías continuou: Que viram eles em teu palácio? Viram tudo o que há em meu palácio, respondeu Ezequias; nada há em meu palácio que eu não lhes tenha mostrado.

¹⁶ Therefore Isaiah said to Hezekiah, Hear thou the word of the Lord.

¹⁶ Então Isaías disse ao rei: Ouve a palavra do Senhor:

¹⁷ Lo! days (shall) come, and all things that be in thine house, and which things thy fathers made till into this day, shall be taken away into Babylon; not anything shall (still) dwell, saith the Lord, (or nothing shall be left, saith the Lord).

¹⁷ Virão dias em que tudo o que se encontra em teu palácio, tudo o que ajuntaram os teus pais até o dia de hoje será levado para Babilônia. Nada ficará, diz o Senhor.

¹⁸ But also of thy sons, that shall go out of thee, which thou shalt beget, shall be taken [away], and they shall be geldings in the palace of the king of Babylon (or and they shall be eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon).

¹⁸ Tomar-se-ão mesmo os teus filhos que saírem de ti, que tiveres gerado, para se tornarem eunucos no palácio do rei de Babilônia.

¹⁹ And Hezekiah said to Isaiah, The word of the Lord, which he spake, is good; only peace and truth be in my days. (And Hezekiah said to Isaiah, The word of the Lord, which thou spoke, is good; let there be only peace and truth in my days.)

¹⁹ Ezequias respondeu a Isaías: O Senhor tem razão; é justo tudo o que me acabas de anunciar. E dizia consigo: Ao menos enquanto eu viver, haverá paz e segurança.

²⁰ Forsooth the residue of [the] words of Hezekiah, and all his strength, and how he made a cistern, and a water conduit, and brought water into the city, whether these be not written in the book of [the] words of [the] days of the kings of Judah?

²⁰ O resto da história de Ezequias, seus atos e grandes feitos, a construção do reservatório e do aqueduto pelo qual proveu de água a cidade, tudo isso se acha consignado no livro das Crônicas dos reis de Judá.

²¹ And Hezekiah slept with his fathers, and Manasseh, his son, reigned for him.

²¹ Ezequias adormeceu com seus pais, e seu filho Manassés sucedeu-lhe no trono.
