1 But, brethren, of times and moments ye need not that I write to you.
1 A respeito da época e do momento, não há necessidade, irmãos, de que vos escrevamos.
2 For ye yourselves know diligently, that the day of the Lord shall come, as a thief in the night. (For ye yourselves assuredly know, that the Day of the Lord shall come, like a thief in the night.)
2 Pois vós mesmos sabeis muito bem que o dia do Senhor virá como um ladrão de noite.
3 For when they shall say peace is, and secureness, then sudden death shall come on them [+or then suddenly perishing shall come on them], as sorrow to a woman that is with child, and they shall not escape.
3 Quando os homens disserem: Paz e segurança!, então repentinamente lhes sobrevirá a destruição, como as dores à mulher grávida. E não escaparão.
4 But, brethren, ye be not in darknesses, that that day as a thief catch you. (But, brothers, ye do not be in darkness, so that that day shall catch you like a thief.)
4 Mas vós, irmãos, não estais em trevas, de modo que esse dia vos surpreenda como um ladrão.
5 For all ye be the sons of light, and sons of [the] day; we be not of night, neither of darknesses. (For all of ye be the children of the light, and the children of the day; we do not be of the night, nor of the darkness.)
5 Porque todos vós sois filhos da luz e filhos do dia. Não somos da noite nem das trevas.
6 Therefore sleep we not as others; but wake we, and be we sober. (And so let us not sleep like others; but watch, and be resolute.)
6 Não durmamos, pois, como os demais. Mas vigiemos e sejamos sóbrios.
7 For they that sleep, sleep in the night, and they that be drunken, be drunken in the night.
7 Porque os que dormem, dormem de noite; e os que se embriagam, embriagam-se de noite.
8 But we that be of the day, be sober, clothed in the habergeon of faith and of charity, and in the helmet of hope of health. (But we who be of the day, be resolute, clothed in the breastplate of faith and of love, and in the helmet of the hope of salvation.)
8 Nós, ao contrário, que somos do dia, sejamos sóbrios. Tomemos por couraça a fé e a caridade, e por capacete a esperança da salvação.
9 For God putted not us into wrath, but into the purchasing of health (or but unto the getting of salvation), by our Lord Jesus Christ,
9 Porquanto não nos destinou Deus para a ira, mas para alcançar a salvação por nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo.
10 that was dead for us (or who died for us); (so) that whether we wake, whether we sleep, we live together with him.
10 Ele morreu por nós, a fim de que nós, quer em estado de vigília, quer de sono, vivamos em união com ele.
11 For which thing comfort ye together (or For which thing strengthen ye one another), and edify ye each other, as ye do.
11 Assim, pois, consolai-vos mutuamente e edificai-vos uns aos outros, como já o fazeis.
12 And, brethren, we pray you, that ye know them that travail among you, and be sovereigns to you [or be before to you] in the Lord, and (who) teach you, (And, brothers, we beseech you, that ye acknowledge and honour those who labour among you, and be your leaders in the Lord, and who teach you,)
12 Suplicamo-vos, irmãos, que reconheçais aqueles que arduamente trabalham entre vós para dirigir-vos no Senhor e vos admoestar.
13 that ye have them more abundantly in charity (or and that ye have more love for them); and for the work of them, have ye peace with them.
13 Tende para com eles singular amor, em vista do cargo que exercem. Conservai a paz entre vós.
14 And, brethren, we pray you, reprove unpeaceable men, [or reprove ye, or chastise, unquiet men]. Comfort ye men of little heart, receive ye sick men, be ye patient to all men. (And, brothers, we beseech you, rebuke the unpeaceable, or chastise the troublesome. Strengthen men of faint heart, receive the frail, or support the weak, and be patient with all men.)
14 Pedimo-vos, porém, irmãos, corrigi os desordeiros, encorajai os tímidos, amparai os fracos e tende paciência para com todos.
15 See ye, that no man yield evil for evil to any man; but (for)evermore (pur)sue ye that that is good, each to (the) other, and to all men. (Ensure, that no one give back evil for evil to anyone; but always pursue that which is good, for one another, and for all \+em people\+em*.)
15 Vede que ninguém pague a outro mal por mal. Antes, procurai sempre praticar o bem entre vós e para com todos.
16 (For)Evermore joy ye; (Always have joy;)
16 Vivei sempre contentes.
17 without ceasing pray ye;
17 Orai sem cessar.
18 in all things do ye thankings. For this is the will of God in Christ Jesus, in all you. (in all things give thanks. For this is the will of God in the Messiah Jesus, for all of you.)
18 Em todas as circunstâncias, dai graças, porque esta é a vosso respeito a vontade de Deus em Jesus Cristo.
19 Do not ye quench the Spirit,
19 Não extingais o Espírito.
20 do not ye despise prophecies.
20 Não desprezeis as profecias.
21 But prove ye all things, and hold ye (fast, or firm), (to) that thing that is good.
21 Examinai tudo: abraçai o que é bom.
22 Abstain [ye] you(rselves) from all evil species, [or \+sls (all evil)\+sls* likeness]. (Absent yourselves from anything that hath even the appearance of evil.)
22 Guardai-vos de toda a espécie de mal.
23 And God himself of peace make you holy by all things, that your spirit be kept whole, and soul, and body, without (com)plaint, in the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. (And God himself, the God of peace, make you holy in everything, so that your spirit, and your soul, and your body, be kept whole, yea, without fault, into the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.)
23 O Deus da paz vos conceda santidade perfeita. Que todo o vosso ser, espírito, alma e corpo, seja conservado irrepreensível para a vinda de nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo!
24 God is true, that called you, which also shall do [\+sls (a)\+sls* work of grace in you].
24 Fiel é aquele que vos chama, e o cumprirá.
25 Brethren, pray ye for us.
25 Irmãos, orai também por nós.
26 Greet ye well all (the) brethren in (a) holy kiss. (Give hearty greetings to all the brothers with a holy kiss.)
26 Saudai a todos os irmãos com o ósculo santo.
27 I charge you by the Lord, that this epistle be read to all (of the) holy brethren.
27 Peço-vos encarecidamente, no Senhor, que esta carta seja lida a todos os irmãos.
28 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.
28 A graça de nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo esteja convosco!
