1 Now|strong="G2532" that|strong="G3956" you|strong="G3956" have|strong="G2532" done with|strong="G2532" all|strong="G3956" malice|strong="G2549", all|strong="G3956" deceitfulness, insincerity, jealous feelings, and|strong="G2532" all|strong="G3956" backbiting,
1 Deponde, pois, toda malícia, toda astúcia, fingimentos, invejas e toda espécie de maledicência.
2 like|strong="G5613" newly born infants|strong="G1025", crave pure spiritual|strong="G3050" milk|strong="G1051", so|strong="G2443" that|strong="G2443" you|strong="G1722" may|strong="G2443" be|strong="G1519" enabled by|strong="G1722" it|strong="G5613" to|strong="G1519" grow until|strong="G1519" you|strong="G1722" attain salvation|strong="G4991" –
2 as newborn babes desire earnestly the pure mental milk of the word, that by it ye may grow up to salvation,
3 since|strong="G3754" “you|strong="G1487" have|strong="G3748" found by|strong="G3588" experience|strong="G1089" that|strong="G3754" the|strong="G3588" Lord|strong="G2962" is|strong="G3588" kind|strong="G5543".”
3 if indeed ye have tasted that the Lord {is} good.
4 Come|strong="G4334" to|strong="G4314" him|strong="G3739", then|strong="G1161", as|strong="G1161" to|strong="G4314" a|strong="G1161" living|strong="G2198" stone|strong="G3037", rejected, indeed|strong="G3303", by|strong="G5259" men|strong="G3739", but|strong="G1161" in|strong="G2316" God|strong="G2316"’s eyes choice|strong="G1588" and|strong="G1161" precious|strong="G1784";
4 — ausente —
5 and|strong="G2532", as|strong="G5613" living|strong="G2198" stones|strong="G3037", form yourselves into|strong="G1519" a|strong="G5613" spiritual|strong="G4152" house|strong="G3624", to|strong="G1519" be|strong="G2532" a|strong="G5613" consecrated priesthood|strong="G2406", for|strong="G1519" the|strong="G2532" offering|strong="G2532" of|strong="G1223" spiritual|strong="G4152" sacrifices|strong="G2378" that|strong="G2532" will|strong="G2316" be|strong="G2532" acceptable|strong="G2144" to|strong="G1519" God|strong="G2316" through|strong="G1223" Jesus|strong="G2424" Christ|strong="G5547".
5 yourselves also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.
6 For|strong="G1909" there|strong="G2532" is|strong="G3588" a|strong="G2532" passage of|strong="G2532" scripture|strong="G1124" that|strong="G3588" runs –
6 Because it is contained in the scripture: Behold, I lay in Zion a corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believes on him shall not be put to shame.
7 It|strong="G2532" is|strong="G3588" to|strong="G1519" you|strong="G5210", then|strong="G3767", who|strong="G3739" believe|strong="G4100" in|strong="G1519" him|strong="G3588" that|strong="G3739" he|strong="G2532" is|strong="G3588" precious|strong="G5092", but|strong="G1161" to|strong="G1519" those|strong="G3588" who|strong="G3739" do|strong="G1096" not|strong="G3739" believe|strong="G4100" he|strong="G2532" is|strong="G3588" “a|strong="G1096" stone|strong="G3037" which|strong="G3739", though|strong="G2532" rejected by|strong="G2532" the|strong="G2532" builders|strong="G3618", has|strong="G3739" now|strong="G1161" itself become|strong="G1096" the|strong="G2532" corner-stone,”
7 To you therefore who believe {is} the preciousness; but to the disobedient, the stone which the builders cast away as worthless, this is become head of {the} corner,
8 and|strong="G2532" “a|strong="G2532" stumbling-block, and|strong="G2532" a|strong="G2532" rock|strong="G4073" which|strong="G3739" will|strong="G2532" prove a|strong="G2532" hindrance.” They|strong="G2532" stumble|strong="G4350" because|strong="G2532" they|strong="G2532" do|strong="G2532" not|strong="G3739" accept the|strong="G2532" message|strong="G3056". This|strong="G3588" was|strong="G3588" the|strong="G2532" fate destined|strong="G5087" for|strong="G1519" them|strong="G3588".
8 and a stone of stumbling and rock of offence; {who} stumble at the word, being disobedient to which also they have been appointed.
9 But|strong="G1161" you|strong="G5210" are|strong="G3588" “a|strong="G1519" chosen|strong="G1588" people|strong="G2992", a|strong="G1519" royal priesthood|strong="G2406", a|strong="G1519" consecrated nation|strong="G1484", God|strong="G1519"’s own people|strong="G2992",” entrusted with|strong="G1537" the|strong="G1519" proclamation of|strong="G1537" the|strong="G1519" goodness of|strong="G1537" him|strong="G3588" who|strong="G3588" called|strong="G2564" you|strong="G5210" out|strong="G1537" of|strong="G1537" darkness|strong="G4655" into|strong="G1519" his|strong="G1519" wonderful light|strong="G5457".
9 But *ye* {are} a chosen race, a kingly priesthood, a holy nation, a people for a possession, that ye might set forth the excellencies of him who has called you out of darkness to his wonderful light;
10 Once|strong="G4218" you|strong="G3739" were|strong="G3588" “not|strong="G3756" a|strong="G1161" people|strong="G2992",” but|strong="G1161" now|strong="G1161" you|strong="G3739" are|strong="G3588" “God|strong="G2316"’s people|strong="G2992"”; once|strong="G4218" you|strong="G3739" “had|strong="G2316" not|strong="G3756" found|strong="G1653" mercy|strong="G1653",” but|strong="G1161" now|strong="G1161" you|strong="G3739" “have|strong="G1653" found|strong="G1653" mercy|strong="G1653".”
10 who once {were} not a people, but now God's people; who were not enjoying mercy, but now have found mercy.
11 Dear friends, I|strong="G2532" beg|strong="G3870" you|strong="G2532", as|strong="G5613" pilgrims|strong="G3927" and|strong="G2532" strangers|strong="G3927" on|strong="G2596" earth|strong="G2532", to|strong="G2532" refrain from|strong="G2532" indulging the|strong="G2532" cravings of|strong="G2532" your|strong="G2532" earthly nature, for|strong="G2532" they|strong="G2532" make|strong="G2532" war|strong="G4754" on|strong="G2596" the|strong="G2532" soul|strong="G5590".
11 Beloved, I exhort {you}, as strangers and sojourners, to abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;
12 Let|strong="G2443" your|strong="G2192" daily|strong="G2250" life among|strong="G1722" the|strong="G1722" Gentiles|strong="G1484" be|strong="G2316" so|strong="G2443" upright, that|strong="G2443", whenever|strong="G5613" they|strong="G3588" malign you|strong="G5210" as|strong="G5613" evildoers|strong="G2555", they|strong="G3588" may|strong="G2443" learn, as|strong="G5613" they|strong="G3588" watch, from|strong="G1537" the|strong="G1722" uprightness of|strong="G1537" your|strong="G2192" conduct|strong="G2041", to|strong="G2443" praise|strong="G1392" God|strong="G2316" “at|strong="G1722" the|strong="G1722" time|strong="G2250" when|strong="G5613" he|strong="G3739" will|strong="G2316" visit them|strong="G3588".”
12 having your conversation honest among the Gentiles, that {as to that} in which they speak against you as evildoers, they may through {your} good works, {themselves} witnessing {them}, glorify God in {the} day of visitation.
13 Submit|strong="G5293" to|strong="G5293" all|strong="G3956" human institutions for|strong="G1223" the|strong="G3956" Lord|strong="G2962"’s|strong="G2962" sake|strong="G1223", alike to|strong="G5293" the|strong="G3956" emperor as|strong="G5613" the|strong="G3956" supreme|strong="G5242" authority|strong="G5242",
13 — ausente —
14 and|strong="G1161" to|strong="G1519" governors|strong="G2232" as|strong="G5613" sent|strong="G3992" by|strong="G1223" him|strong="G1519" to|strong="G1519" punish|strong="G1557" evildoers|strong="G2555" and|strong="G1161" to|strong="G1519" commend those|strong="G1161" who|strong="G3992" do|strong="G1223" right|strong="G1519".
14 or to rulers as sent by him, for vengeance on evildoers, and praise to them that do well.
15 For|strong="G3754" God|strong="G2316"’s will|strong="G2307" is|strong="G1510" this|strong="G3588" – that|strong="G3754" you|strong="G3754" should|strong="G2316" silence|strong="G5392" the|strong="G3588" ignorance of|strong="G2316" foolish people|strong="G1510" by|strong="G3588" doing what|strong="G3588" is|strong="G1510" right|strong="G3779".
15 Because so is the will of God, that by well-doing ye put to silence the ignorance of senseless men;
16 Act as|strong="G5613" free|strong="G1658" people|strong="G3361", yet|strong="G2532" not|strong="G3361" using|strong="G2192" your|strong="G2192" freedom|strong="G1657" as|strong="G5613" those|strong="G3588" do|strong="G2532" who|strong="G3588" make|strong="G2532" it|strong="G2532" a|strong="G2192" cloak for|strong="G2532" wickedness|strong="G2549", but|strong="G2532" as|strong="G5613" Servants|strong="G1401" of|strong="G2316" God|strong="G2316".
16 as free, and not as having liberty as a cloak of malice, but as God's bondmen.
17 Show honour|strong="G5091" to|strong="G2316" everyone|strong="G3956", love the|strong="G3956" Lord|strong="G3588"’s followers|strong="G3588", “revere God|strong="G2316", honour|strong="G5091" the|strong="G3956" emperor.”
17 Shew honour to all, love the brotherhood, fear God, honour the king.
18 Those|strong="G3588" of|strong="G2532" you|strong="G1722" who|strong="G3588" are|strong="G3588" domestic servants|strong="G3610" should|strong="G3588" always|strong="G3956" be|strong="G2532" submissive|strong="G5293" and|strong="G2532" respectful|strong="G5401" to|strong="G2532" their|strong="G2532" masters|strong="G1203", not|strong="G3756" only|strong="G3440" to|strong="G2532" those|strong="G3588" who|strong="G3588" are|strong="G3588" good|strong="G3956" and|strong="G2532" considerate, but|strong="G2532" also|strong="G2532" to|strong="G2532" those|strong="G3588" who|strong="G3588" are|strong="G3588" arbitrary.
18 Servants, {be} subject with all fear to your masters, not only to the good and gentle, but also to the ill-tempered.
19 For|strong="G1063" this|strong="G3778" wins God|strong="G2316"’s approval when|strong="G5100", because|strong="G1223" conscious of|strong="G1223" God|strong="G2316"’s presence|strong="G1223", a|strong="G1487" person|strong="G5100" who|strong="G2316" is|strong="G2316" suffering|strong="G3958" unjustly bears|strong="G5297" their|strong="G1223" troubles patiently.
19 For this {is} acceptable, if one, for conscience sake towards God, endure griefs, suffering unjustly.
20 What|strong="G4169" credit|strong="G5485" can|strong="G1063" you|strong="G1487" claim when|strong="G2532", after|strong="G2532" doing|strong="G3844" wrong, you|strong="G1487" take|strong="G2316" your|strong="G2532" punishment for|strong="G1063" it|strong="G2532" patiently|strong="G5278"? But|strong="G2532", on|strong="G2532" the|strong="G2532" other hand, if|strong="G1487", after|strong="G2532" doing|strong="G3844" right, you|strong="G1487" take|strong="G2316" your|strong="G2532" sufferings|strong="G3958" patiently|strong="G5278", that|strong="G2532" does|strong="G2316" win the|strong="G2532" approval of|strong="G2316" God|strong="G2316".
20 For what glory {is it}, if sinning and being buffeted ye shall bear {it}? but if, doing good and suffering, ye shall bear {it}, this is acceptable with God.
21 For|strong="G1063" it|strong="G2532" was|strong="G3588" to|strong="G1519" this|strong="G3778" that|strong="G3754" you|strong="G5210" were|strong="G3588" called|strong="G2564"! For|strong="G1063" Christ|strong="G5547", too|strong="G2532", suffered|strong="G3958" – on|strong="G1519" your|strong="G2532" behalf|strong="G5228" – and|strong="G2532" left you|strong="G5210" an|strong="G2532" example|strong="G5261", that|strong="G3754" you|strong="G5210" should|strong="G3588" follow|strong="G1872" in|strong="G1519" his|strong="G1519" steps|strong="G2487".
21 For to this have ye been called; for Christ also has suffered for you, leaving you a model that ye should follow in his steps:
22 He|strong="G3739" “never|strong="G3756" sinned, nor|strong="G3761" was|strong="G3588" anything deceitful ever|strong="G3756" heard from|strong="G3756" his|strong="G1722" lips|strong="G4750".”
22 who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth;
23 He|strong="G1161" was|strong="G3588" abused, but|strong="G1161" he|strong="G1161" did|strong="G3588" not|strong="G3756" answer with|strong="G3756" abuse; he|strong="G1161" suffered|strong="G3958", but|strong="G1161" he|strong="G1161" did|strong="G3588" not|strong="G3756" threaten; he|strong="G1161" entrusted|strong="G3860" himself to|strong="G3756" him|strong="G3588" whose|strong="G3739" judgments|strong="G2919" are|strong="G3588" just|strong="G3739".
23 who, {when} reviled, reviled not again; {when} suffering, threatened not; but gave {himself} over into the hands of him who judges righteously;
24 And|strong="G4983" he|strong="G3739" “himself carried our|strong="G1722" sins” in|strong="G1722" his|strong="G1909" own body|strong="G4983" to|strong="G2443" the|strong="G1722" cross|strong="G3586", so|strong="G2443" that|strong="G2443" we|strong="G2249" might|strong="G1473" die to|strong="G2443" our|strong="G1722" sins, and|strong="G4983" live|strong="G2198" for|strong="G1909" righteousness|strong="G1343". “His|strong="G1909" bruising was|strong="G3588" your|strong="G1909" healing|strong="G2390".”
24 who himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, in order that, being dead to sins, we may live to righteousness: by whose stripes ye have been healed.
25 Once you|strong="G5210" were|strong="G1510" straying|strong="G4105" like|strong="G5613" sheep|strong="G4263", but|strong="G2532" now|strong="G3568" you|strong="G5210" have|strong="G2532" returned|strong="G1994" to|strong="G2532" the|strong="G2532" shepherd|strong="G4166" and|strong="G2532" guardian|strong="G1985" of|strong="G2532" your|strong="G2532" souls|strong="G5590".
25 For ye were going astray as sheep, but have now returned to the shepherd and overseer of your souls.
