GOD'S WORD (ENGGW) vs NVT
1 In the first month the whole community of Israel came into the Desert of Zin, and they stayed at Kadesh. Miriam died and was buried there.
1 No primeiro mês do ano, toda a comunidade chegou ao deserto de Zim e acampou em Cades. Enquanto estavam lá, Miriã morreu e foi sepultada.
2 Since the community was without water, they came together to confront Moses and Aaron.
2 Como não havia água naquele lugar, o povo se rebelou contra Moisés e Arão.
3 The people complained to Moses and said, “If only we had died when the other Israelites died in the Lord’s presence!
3 Discutiram com Moisés e disseram: “Se ao menos tivéssemos morrido com nossos irmãos diante do S enhor !
4 Did you bring the Lord’s assembly into this desert just to have us and our animals die here?
4 Por que vocês trouxeram a comunidade do S enhor até este deserto? Foi para morrermos, junto com todos os nossos animais?
5 Why did you make us leave Egypt and bring us into this terrible place? This is no place to plant crops. Even figs, grapes, and pomegranates won’t grow here. And there’s no water to drink!”
5 Por que nos obrigaram a sair do Egito e nos trouxeram para este lugar terrível? Esta terra não tem cereais, nem figos, nem uvas, nem romãs, nem água para beber!”.
6 Moses and Aaron went from the assembly to the entrance of the tent of meeting. Immediately, they bowed with their faces touching the ground, and the glory of the Lord appeared to them.
6 Moisés e Arão se afastaram do povo e foram até a frente da tenda do encontro, onde se prostraram com o rosto em terra. Então a presença gloriosa do S enhor lhes apareceu,
7 The Lord said to Moses,
7 e o S enhor disse a Moisés:
8 “Take your staff, then you and your brother Aaron gather the community. Right before their eyes, tell the rock to give up its water. In this way you will give the community water from the rock for them and their animals to drink.”
8 “Você e Arão, peguem a vara e reúnam todo o povo. Enquanto eles observam, falem àquela rocha ali, e dela jorrará água. Vocês tirarão água suficiente da rocha para matar a sede de toda a comunidade e de seus animais”.
9 Moses took his staff out of ⌞the tent in⌟ the Lord’s presence as he had been commanded.
9 Moisés fez conforme o S enhor havia ordenado. Pegou a vara que ficava guardada diante do S enhor e,
10 Then Moses and Aaron assembled the community in front of the rock and said to them, “Listen, you rebels, must we bring water out of this rock for you?”
10 em seguida, ele e Arão mandaram chamar o povo para se reunir em frente da rocha. “Ouçam, seus rebeldes!”, gritou Moisés. “Será que é desta rocha que teremos de tirar água para vocês?”
11 Moses raised his hand and hit the rock twice with the staff. Water came pouring out, and all the people and their animals drank.
11 Então Moisés levantou a mão e bateu na rocha duas vezes com a vara, e jorrou muita água. Assim, toda a comunidade e todos os seus animais beberam até matar a sede.
12 But the Lord said to Moses and Aaron, “You didn’t trust me! You didn’t show the Israelites how holy I am! So you will not bring this congregation into the land I’m giving them.”
12 O S enhor , porém, disse a Moisés e a Arão: “Uma vez que vocês não confiaram em mim para mostrar minha santidade aos israelitas, não os conduzirão à terra que eu lhes dou!”.
13 This was the oasis of Meribah [Complaining], where the Israelites complained about the Lord and where he showed them he was holy.
13 Por isso aquele lugar ficou conhecido como Meribá, pois ali os israelitas discutiram com o S enhor , e ali ele mostrou sua santidade entre eles.
14 Moses sent messengers from Kadesh to the king of Edom. He said, “This is what your brother Israel says: You know all the hardships we’ve had.
14 Enquanto estava em Cades, Moisés enviou representantes ao rei de Edom com a seguinte mensagem: “É isto que dizem seus parentes, o povo de Israel: É de seu conhecimento todas as dificuldades que tivemos.
15 Our ancestors went to Egypt, and we lived there for many years. The Egyptians mistreated us and our ancestors.
15 Nossos antepassados desceram ao Egito, onde vivemos por muito tempo. Ali, nós e nossos antepassados fomos maltratados pelos egípcios,
16 When we cried out to the Lord, he heard us, sent a messenger, and brought us out of Egypt.
16 mas, quando clamamos ao S enhor , ele nos ouviu e enviou um anjo que nos tirou do Egito. Agora estamos acampados em Cades, cidade na fronteira de seu território.
17 Please let us go through your country. We won’t go through any of your fields or vineyards, or drink any of the water from your wells. We’ll stay on the king’s highway and never leave it until we’ve passed through your territory.”
17 Pedimos que nos deixe atravessar sua terra. Tomaremos cuidado para não passar por seus campos e vinhedos, e não beberemos água de seus poços. Seguiremos pela estrada real e só a deixaremos quando tivermos atravessado seu território”.
18 But the Edomites answered, “You may not pass through our country. If you try, we’ll come out and attack you.”
18 O rei de Edom, porém, disse: “Fiquem fora do meu território ou irei ao seu encontro com meu exército!”.
19 The Israelites replied, “We’ll stay on the main road, and if we or our livestock drink any of your water, we’ll pay for it. We want to pass through on foot. That’s all.”
19 Os israelitas responderam: “Ficaremos na estrada principal. Se nós ou nossos animais bebermos de sua água, pagaremos por ela. Apenas deixe-nos passar por seu território; é só o que pedimos”.
20 But the Edomites said, “You may not pass through.” Then they came out and attacked with many well-armed troops.
20 O rei de Edom retrucou: “Vocês não têm permissão de passar por nossa terra!”. Em seguida, mobilizou suas tropas e marchou contra o povo de Israel com um exército poderoso.
21 Since the Edomites refused to let Israel go through their territory, the Israelites turned around and went a different way.
21 Uma vez que o povo de Edom se recusou a deixá-los passar por seu território, os israelitas foram obrigados a desviar-se dele.
22 The whole community of Israel left Kadesh and came to Mount Hor.
22 Então toda a comunidade de Israel partiu de Cades e chegou ao monte Hor.
23 At Mount Hor, near the border of Edom, the Lord said to Moses and Aaron,
23 Ali, na fronteira com a terra de Edom, o S enhor disse a Moisés e a Arão:
24 “Aaron must now join his ancestors ⌞in death⌟, since he cannot enter the land I’m giving the Israelites. This is because you both rebelled against my command at the oasis of Meribah.
24 “É chegado o momento de Arão reunir-se a seus antepassados. Não entrará na terra que dou aos israelitas, pois vocês se rebelaram contra minhas instruções a respeito da água em Meribá.
25 Bring Aaron and his son Eleazar up on Mount Hor.
25 Agora, leve Arão e seu filho Eleazar ao monte Hor.
26 Take off Aaron’s priestly clothes, and put them on his son Eleazar. Then Aaron will die there and join ⌞his ancestors⌟.”
26 Em seguida, tire as roupas sacerdotais de Arão e coloque-as em Eleazar, seu filho. Arão morrerá ali e se reunirá a seus antepassados”.
27 Moses did as the Lord commanded. The whole community saw them go up on Mount Hor.
27 Moisés fez conforme o S enhor lhe ordenou. Os três subiram juntos ao monte Hor, enquanto toda a comunidade observava.
28 Moses took off Aaron’s priestly clothes and put them on his son Eleazar. Aaron died there on top of the mountain. Then Moses and Eleazar came down from the mountain.
28 No topo, Moisés tirou as roupas sacerdotais de Arão e as colocou em Eleazar, filho de Arão. Então Arão morreu no alto do monte, e Moisés e Eleazar desceram.
29 The whole community saw that Aaron had died, and all the Israelites mourned for Aaron 30 days.
29 Quando a comunidade percebeu que Arão havia morrido, todo o povo de Israel lamentou sua morte por trinta dias.
