GOD'S WORD (ENGGW) vs ACF
1 Joshua got up early the next morning. He and all the Israelites left Shittim. They came to the Jordan River, where they camped before crossing.
1 Levantou-se, pois, Josué de madrugada, e partiram de Sitim, ele e todos os filhos de Israel; e vieram até ao Jordão, e pousaram ali, antes que passassem.
2 Three days later the officers went through the camp.
2 E sucedeu, ao fim de três dias, que os oficiais passaram pelo meio do arraial;
3 They told the people, “As soon as you see the ark of the promise of the Lord your God and the Levitical priests who carry it, break camp and follow them.
3 E ordenaram ao povo, dizendo: Quando virdes a arca da aliança do Senhor vosso Deus, e que os sacerdotes levitas a levam, partireis vós também do vosso lugar, e a seguireis.
4 However, stay about half a mile behind them. Don’t come any closer to them so that you will know which way to go because you have not gone this way before.”
4 Haja contudo, entre vós e ela, uma distância de dois mil côvados; e não vos chegueis a ela, para que saibais o caminho pelo qual haveis de ir; porquanto por este caminho nunca passastes antes.
5 Joshua told the people, “Perform the ceremonies to make yourselves holy because tomorrow the Lord will do miracles among you.”
5 Disse Josué também ao povo: Santificai-vos, porque amanhã fará o Senhor maravilhas no meio de vós.
6 Joshua also told the priests, “Take the ark of the promise, and go ahead of the people.” They did as they were told.
6 E falou Josué aos sacerdotes, dizendo: Levantai a arca da aliança, e passai adiante deste povo. Levantaram, pois, a arca da aliança, e foram andando adiante do povo.
7 Then the Lord said to Joshua, “Today I will begin to honor you in front of all the people of Israel. I will do this to let them know that I am with you just as I was with Moses.
7 E o Senhor disse a Josué: Hoje começarei a engrandecer-te perante os olhos de todo o Israel, para que saibam que, assim como fui com Moisés, assim serei contigo.
8 Order the priests who carry the ark of the promise, ‘When you step into the water of the Jordan River, stand there.’ ”
8 Tu, pois, ordenarás aos sacerdotes que levam a arca da aliança, dizendo: Quando chegardes à beira das águas do Jordão, parareis aí.
9 So Joshua said to the people of Israel, “Come here, and listen to the words of the Lord your God.”
9 Então disse Josué aos filhos de Israel: Chegai-vos para cá, e ouvi as palavras do Senhor vosso Deus.
10 Joshua continued, “This is how you will know that the living God is among you and that he will certainly force the Canaanites, Hittites, Hivites, Perizzites, Girgashites, Amorites, and Jebusites out of your way.
10 Disse mais Josué: Nisto conhecereis que o Deus vivo está no meio de vós; e que certamente lançará de diante de vós aos cananeus, e aos heteus, e aos heveus, e aos perizeus, e aos girgaseus, e aos amorreus, e aos jebuseus.
11 Watch the ark of the promise of the Lord of the whole earth as it goes ahead of you into the Jordan River.
11 Eis que a arca da aliança do Senhor de toda a terra passa o Jordão diante de vós.
12 Choose one man from each of the 12 tribes of Israel.
12 Tomai, pois, agora doze homens das tribos de Israel, de cada tribo um homem;
13 The priests who carry the ark of the Lord, the Lord of the whole earth, will stand in the water of the Jordan. Then the water flowing from upstream will stop and stand up like a dam.”
13 Porque há de acontecer que, assim que as plantas dos pés dos sacerdotes, que levam a arca do Senhor, o Senhor de toda a terra, repousem nas águas do Jordão, se separarão as águas do Jordão, e as águas, que vêm de cima, pararão amontoadas.
14 So they broke camp to cross the Jordan River. The priests who carried the ark of the promise went ahead of the people.
14 E aconteceu que, partindo o povo das suas tendas, para passar o Jordão, levavam os sacerdotes a arca da aliança adiante do povo.
15 (The Jordan overflows all its banks during the harvest season.) When the priests who were carrying the ark came to the edge of the Jordan River and set foot in
15 E quando os que levavam a arca, chegaram ao Jordão, e os seus pés se molharam na beira das águas (porque o Jordão transbordava sobre todas as suas ribanceiras, todos os dias da ceifa),
16 the water, the water stopped flowing from upstream. The water rose up like a dam as far away as the city of Adam near Zarethan. The water flowing down toward the Sea of the Plains (the Dead Sea) was completely cut off. Then the people crossed from the east side ⌞of the Jordan River⌟ directly opposite Jericho.
16 Pararam-se as águas, que vinham de cima; levantaram-se num montão, mui longe da cidade de Adão, que está ao lado de Zaretã; e as que desciam ao mar das campinas, que é o Mar Salgado, foram de todo separadas; então passou o povo em frente de Jericó.
17 The priests who carried the ark of the Lord’s promise stood firmly on dry ground in the middle of the Jordan until the whole nation of Israel had crossed the Jordan River on dry ground.
17 Porém os sacerdotes, que levavam a arca da aliança do Senhor, pararam firmes, em seco, no meio do Jordão, e todo o Israel passou a seco, até que todo o povo acabou de passar o Jordão.
